IMO I find TIktok to be over rated and here are my reasons They aren't funny They're mostly stolen clips from other places in the internet It makes no sense It's spreading faster than a god damn misspelling on twitter THEY'RE NOT FUNNY It's not a good platform it has many issues the community is more toxic than a league game with Tyler1 and Nightblu3 fighting and other toxic players (I don't know many) RANDOM DOESN'T EQUAL FUNNY I found this video (I'm English so I know no Turkish I just know this from another video) This means "Worlds funniest videos And yes I know that's musicaly But he's doin the same stuff on tiktok and it's not funny he's just making stupid faces making a damn fool of himself. What is your opinion on Tiktok and what're your reasoning behind it.
I think TikTok is cringey trash. The old vines were way better, at least somewhat funny and not as cringey.
Just go on reddit and there's subs dedicated to TikTok cringe. Don't even have to waste your time there to find how bad it is
I only like tik tok when the videos are more like vines that just so happen to be put onto tik tok. I find some of them funny, but not enough to actually actively watch tik tok. I do also get annoyed with how they're everywhere. Even if something is the best thing in the world, if people don't shut up about it, it gets old real quick. If it's not all that good in the first place, like tik tok, and yet is still super popular, it makes it seem like it's worse than it really is.
Referencing the video you posted, I would think people go there to look at 'attractive' people do stupid things to entertain themselves. Or they think they are attractive and a very interesting person, so of course others want to see what they're doing with their down time. I've gleaned this information from my younger co-workers. They think they're fabulous, and don't interact with their co-workers in a more meaningful way, as this is what they've been raised on. Or they're just perpetually bored. I'm not a fan of Tik Tok, Vine, or Musically, so I'm guessing it is for a slightly younger audience. Slightly. I think it stems from 'selfies' and 'duck-faces' and it got worse from there. I think some fandoms use them to interact with each other, or make character theme songs. I see that as a less boring way to use the application, if one should have to use it at all. It could be a great way to show off a costume or fur-suit, without having to put too much thought into the video itself.
I personally do not use tik tok but the student in my school does. I don't get the point of them making a video of a repeat or an exact copy of others.
As a citizen of the social media capital of the world, I can say TikTok is quite fun~ 'Tis also funny to see my friends and teachers do all sorts of weird dances while I sit back and eat popcorn~ (yeah I don't use TikTok but I watch others use it~)
I'm gonna go out on the limb, play devil's advocate, and say something completely different from everyone else here - I don't care if TikTok is insanely popular, and I wouldn't care if whatever other social media I use was insanely popular. TikTok has just happened to find its niche, even if that niche is in humor that I can't find any enjoyment out of (just like most other people in this thread it seems). The one thing I don't like about it is that a lot of what determines whether or not you have a shot at being popular on it depends on whether or not you're attractive, as PoserPanda mentioned. I personally would never use it because I hate its sense of humor, but from what I can tell, it's kind of harmless. I can't even blame you if you hate it for its awful sense of humor even if I don't feel the same, honestly. Also, one other quick thing that's kind of unrelated to anything else, but I felt like mentioning here anyways just so it's known - every form of social media that I've ever seen has had meme stealing. TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, iFunny, Reddit... I hate that meme stealing exists as well for reasons that should be obvious to anyone who agrees with me, but no social media platform is safe from this.
I was clueless at what it was at first. I do not pay attention what the kids do these days. Now I think, um okay than, I do not understand the fun at all.
I haven't downloaded the app, but I've seen a couple of videos from that app on youtube, and oh boy the videos aren't funny at all. Tik-Tok is certainly overrated imo.
I personally do not like Tik-Tok, but I'm not sure I can call it overrated since that's a relative term. If somebody prefers a certain social media outlet, more power to them. Even if the humor and attraction doesn't really reach me, it certainly does for millions of others. My answer to the question without going on a rant is simply this: I don't like it, but that does not make it bad or overrated.
my only exposure to tiktok is from stupid videos on my timeline from the app and those "tiktoks that have the same energy as vines" videos but isnt everything overrated to someone..? i dont think its overrated per say but its def prevalent enough that its all over my twitter and instagram haha. personally i think the ppl who say its overrated are just tired of seeing it everywhere so (shrugs)
Tik Tok is too overrated. 1. While some of them are funny, most of them are just reusing the same idea over and over and over and over again 2. It spreads faster and wider than COVID19 3. It appears everywhere. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. 4. Most of the "lesser-known knowledge" or "big eater" videos are often fake or just reused ideas 5. (At least for my country, China the OG Tik Tok) It has the greatest difference in reacting to copying ideas. If the person who makes the video is beautiful, everyone says it is the original(Even it is the copier). If the person is ugly, everyone says it is copying someone else(Even it is the original) 6. (At least for my country, China the OG Tik Tok) Its videos are all about how to be good or how to be a better person. While some makes a good job to tell the Chinese to do good and be a nice person, some are just downright awful. They made it seems like it is the right thing to be bad or disrespect others. 7. (At least for my country, China the OG Tik Tok) Ok, this is personal. The video in Tik Tok just use fake information or take video from Youtube then put a clickbait title and it the owner. Even worse is that, these videos are just spreading fake information and/or showing off how "great" China/Chinese is, or does NOT fact check the video and just steal it and pose it in Tik Tok. Even in the place, I live(HK), there are tests/examinations asking the effect of Tik Tok on teenagers. 8. It is just a worse version of Vine and 4chan.
What I don't like about Tik-Tok is how literally every second or third video is a remake of a popular tik-tok concept. Like the first 8 versions are cool I guess but I can't stand the next 4 million same videos. I do have to concede though that every once in a while I'll find a really really really funny video that'll make me laugh which is nice. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it can go both ways and so kudos to Tik-Tok to making something captivating.
