While listening to music, how often do you find yourself tapping to the beat of a song, or humming/singing along? I have a tendency to start drumming on the table or my ipad (or even my leg) to a song, or tapping my foot to the beat. What can I say, I’m a band kid and a rhythm game player, so of course I can’t just ignore the beat. I only start singing if I’m alone, otherwise I hum instead.
For me 'tis either of three things, all equally possible: 1) I tap/shake me head to the beat 2) I literally run to the beat 3) I start singin' out loud, with facial expressions and all Sometimes I do it even without music...
In addition to all of those, sometimes I'll get a song stuck in my head without even having listened to it in awhile, and (unless it's one I've done all in my power to forget) then I'll start drumming and/or humming along to it regardless of who's around me. Happened earlier with "A Knight's Oath," from Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword... It's a simple melody, but powerful nonetheless.
i play osu, so i kinda gotta tap to the beat or I fail the beatmap! All jokes aside. I will tap to the music sometimes twirling a pencil to it as well. Just keeping tempo up. Thinking about beatmaps as I do so.
I usually nod my head or tap my foot if its got a strong/catchy beat. If I'm alone, I like to 'dance' ( I say the term lightly, because I don't know if you can call what I do dancing, lol)
If I'm walking, I like to take steps to the beat. Sometimes, if on a run, it just makes me happy if my current pace (I use a treadmill, something that has paid off especially when quaranting showed up) matched the beat of the song. I hum along if I'm trying to figure out the exact rhythm (usually when lyric writing), or bob up and down to the beat if it's difficult for me to keep time with it. I will headbang if I feel like the song needs it (I Need A Hero but only the Shrek 2 version). But what I do most is imagine stuff to songs. How I might perform it for my friends, or maybe a scenario related to it, or that sort of thing. Call me childish, but let me dream.
I don't often tap to the beat, unless I am sure I won't miss any of them. Otherwise I prefer to dance much like the actors did in the movie, 'It's a Mad mad mad mad world.'
I haven't tapped my toe to the beat since I was in orchestra. However, I still very regularly nod my head to the beat of the rock music I'm listening to. It's a lot less subtle than toe tapping, but a lot more fun.
