Secret Rocket Experimental Facility Site #12

    Ilex Forest

    Johto

Just outside of the small town of Azalea stands the Ilex Forest, a large, densely packed wilderness which serves as the gateway for young Trainers attempting to reach Goldenrod from Azalea. The path to Goldenrod is marked clearly so no one can get lost easily, and anyone passing through are always asked to pay respect at the shrine halfway down the Forest path, which has been erected for the Guardian of Ilex. Aside from some essential logging that is done with the highest respect to the forest surrounding them, no one dares venture too far into the wood, fearing the rage of the Guardian of Ilex. Naturally, this can make Ilex Forest prime real estate for anyone who seeks to hide from the masses and didn’t care about respecting the forest or its guardian, erecting a facility where many dark deeds can be performed with little to no threat of any outside interference.

On this particular morning, however, an eerie silence has overtaken this normally active Team Rocket outpost. Many bodies covered the ground, both people and Pokémon, all having collapsed during their rudimentary work into their current state of unconsciousness. Even those Pokémon with Insomnia seemed affected by this, as if some strange spell had been cast over the building.

And within the building’s main control room ignoring the unconscious bodies around him sat a man wearing a dark trench coat with a collar so high it covered his face and a matching fedora, casually flickering through the security cameras as if he was simply surfing channels on an ordinary television. The automatic door behind him suddenly swished open, and a smile formed on his face. “You know, it’s funny how easily one can upend an entire criminal enterprise with the help of one singular Pokémon.” On cue, a Magnemite floated over to him, and he stroke its metallic head before retrieving a Pokégear from one of its magnets. “With the help of the songstress Jigglypuff up in Goldenrod, naturally.”

“The idea of using the Pokémon Lullaby broadcast and hooking it up to the speakers was ingenious, sir.” A woman's voice answered him from behind.

The man nodded with an amused smile. “How is progress?”

“Proceeding as planned. Most of the test subjects here have been transported safely away, but…”

He turned to her, his smile fading back to a neutral expression, “Yes? Is there an issue?”

The woman, who was currently wearing a grey hooded cloak that covered most of her body and face, turned back and frowned in disgust. “It appears that there were far more subjects than we anticipated. As I said, most have already been retrieved, but I know there are still several scattered within the building that we have not been able to reach just yet. At this rate, we may have to battle our way out in order to rescue them.”

The man leaned back in the chair, sighing. “That would be troublesome. Our current strategy only works due to their lack of information on us. If that were to be compromised…”

The two of them sat in silence for several minutes, before the man went back to the cameras and quickly switched through a few channels before finally stopping on a cryogenic tube where the shadow of one of these remaining test subjects was still being held, the small glow within likely indicating some kind of Fire type.

His eyes lingered on this image a moment longer, before he made up his mind and begin rapidly typing in the keyboard in front of him. Upon hitting the enter key, he stood up and looked at the Magnemite and gave it a nod. It immediately fired a Thundershock at the control panel, frying the mainframe with. He then turned around and walked towards the door, telling the cloaked woman, “Make the final preparations. We’re leaving now.”

Obviously surprised, the woman glanced at the screen and saw the tube had begun the process of thawing the contained subject. “Sir, what are you doing?”

The man stopped and glanced back at her. “How long has it been since the creation of Mewtwo? Thirty years? Forty? More? Whatever the case, ever since the events on Cinnabar, we have been working diligently from the shadows to ensure nothing like this happens again, at least not in the public eye. However, time and again, Giovanni refuses to learn his lesson, and my patience with him and his entire organization has worn thin. It’s time for them to face what they have done, and bring their crimes against nature to the light.”

“Sir, I don’t mean to be blunt, but are you really willing to put our entire operation at stake? Do you understand the kind of fallout this could bring?” the woman protested. The man gave a light chuckle, which only got the woman more angry. “This is not a laughing matter!”

    “I'm aware of that.”

    “Then why risk everything now?”

The man gave a great sigh, one of a person with far too much weight on their shoulders. “Perhaps it’s simply that I believe it’s time for the world to know. We have fought so hard for far too long for the sake of those Pokémon. We know they deserve a chance at happiness, and this could finally be their chance to earn it for themselves.”

“And that’s another thing, sir,” the woman interjected. “Is it truly wise to leave them here? Alone and defenseless, with no one to help them?”

The man glances back at the feed, the thawing process for the tube nearly finishing and beginning to show signs of opening. “This is their fight. It’s not my place to earn their freedom for them. If our paths cross again, I can see how to lend my assistance then. But, for now, they have each other, and I believe that is enough.”

The man said no more, walking out of the room with his Magnemite following close by, and with some hesitation, the woman followed after. As the door opened and she walked through, she gave one last look to the camera feed above the ruined command station. Her eyes locked on the screen of the pod now beginning to unseal, and silently gave a small prayer for their safety before the automatic doors finally closed behind her.

The blinking light of the camera was the first thing to catch Auron’s attention, the Golduck’s blurry eyes finally fluttering open after having awoken once more to his hell of a life. He stumbled over his feet and grasped the edge of the opening, his clawed hand causing the glass to turn red from the intense heat he was accidentally giving off. However, it did not melt, which made sense considering this enclosure was made specifically with him in mind.

As his eyesight cleared, he immediately noticed that the crowd of black uniformed men that usually surrounded him upon awakening was absent, with a lone scientist laying on the floor in a prone position. Just then, the man stirred and looked around. Upon seeing his panicked eyes and scramble to get away from him, Auron immediately understood this wasn’t a planned occurrence, and without a second thought, charged at the scientist and slammed him into the wall with a Fire Punch in the back. He was reaching for the alarm switch, but the impact caused him slump against the wall and fall back into unconsciousness.

“If this is really my one shot, then I can’t have you giving me away just yet,” he said, jumping off and running to the door. “I’m getting out of here, today!” As he got to the door, he spotted a faded reflection of himself in the stainless-steel door, his blue upper body clashing with his yellow lower body with a bright flame glowing at the end of his tail. While it wasn’t the clearest look he has had of himself after arriving here, seeing this only added to his own desire and motivation, and he took off down the hall. Admittedly, he was unsure where the exit was in the building, but ready to fight for his life in order to make his escape however he can.

Muzzled. Muzzled and bolted down to a table was how one would find Boreas. Metal clasps were used to keep him restrained. The humans keeping him captive did this because he would whip up snowstorms or let loose a bolt of lightning if he wasn’t properly restrained. Rubber restraints could’ve been frozen, and electronic locks could’ve been fried. They were smart to go old school with his restraints. The cage was just extra protection. If he launched any electric attacks, they just got absorbed by the spikes sticking out, and the one keeping him here always entered the room heavily insulated from the cold; always with a Camerupt just in case.

Sure, the room was kept cool enough to avoid causing the Ice-Type any problems, but the insulation was necessary in case he tried to freeze his captors. They only removed the muzzle to allow him food and water. The food wasn’t even good. Just bland pellets offering the bare minimum. They said they would let him have something better if he “behaved” himself, but they’ve already ran his trust in humans into the ground. There was nothing that was going to get him to cooperate. The only time they allowed him to move around was after being sedate and waking up. Once that time was used up, he would be sedated again and put back here.

They should’ve just released me somewhere, literally anywhere, because they aren’t getting my help, he fumed. In fact, they’re going to regret everything they’ve done to me if I ever break out of here.

The human on guard sighed heavily.

“I wish you would make my job easier,” she muttered under her insulation. “I hate being here almost as much as you. Even worse, they put me in this cold room with you.” Boreas growled in irritation, indicating both that she was right and his annoyance by her complaining. The woman put her hands on her hips. “That’s exactly what I’m talking about. You have the worst attitude about this.” She pursed her lips together.

“Look. We’ll both get out of this eventually. You just need to behave so that they can be a little more relaxed with you, and then maybe I’ll get transferred out of this place,” she pointed out. Boreas stared at his handler.in mild curiosity. He had to admit, if he wanted to break out, that was likely his best option. “Either you’ll manage to escape, or you’ll get used by one of the higher ups.”

    Boreas remained still and quiet.

    CRACK!

He let out an electrical blast, which got sucked into the nearest spike. Sure, he wanted freedom, but he wasn’t about to comply to get it, and he most certainly wasn’t about to sink to their level to get it. His guard let out a sigh.

“I don’t know why I even bothered,” she stated.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boreas blinked his eyes open. He remembered falling asleep, but he didn’t remember being stuck with a needle this time. A groan caught his attention. The guard had fallen asleep, but she was coming to as well. This was no coincidence. If she figured that out too, then…

That’s right. She hates it here too, Boreas remembered. “Hey!”

That got her attention. She looked up at Boreas still sprawled across a table

“Did I fall asleep on the job?” she asked. “I’m going to be in trouble.”

“You’re not the only one who fell asleep,” Boreas growled through his muzzle.

“Did they forget to feed you or something?” the Rocket asked. Typical humans. Can’t understand a word a Pokémon says.

He shook his head as best as he could with his neck strapped down. While he hated the idea of getting help from one of his captors, it was his best shot at the time. That meant he needed to get the message across. The rocket stared at him briefly before it dawned on her.

“Something happened?!” she gasped. She seemed to ponder this a bit. Then her green eyes twinkled with mischief, a smile forming across her glossy pink lips. She approached Boreas cautiously.

“Today might be our lucky day,” she whispered. “First, I’m going to look around outside the room. Once I’m sure what’s going, I can work out a way to make everyone else think I’m dead.” Boreas rolled his eyes. Of course she wasn’t going to just let him out. He had figured as much. The rocket produced a ball and promptly released the Camerupt Boreas recognized all too well. “Camerupt, stay here and guard 99. I need check what’s going on outside this room,” she instructed the volcanic camel.

NA-038-99. It was always this, Ninetails, or Ninepharos that these humans called him. Of course it wasn’t like they would be able to know his name, though they could find ways of finding out. But that was assuming they cared which they obviously did not. He exhaled strongly out of his nose, unable to express his annoyance in any other manner than a growl, as the human left the room.

Today might be the day I get to quit! the rocket squealed internally as she moved to open the door, her auburn hair bouncing behind her. Secretly, she hated this place for nearly the same reason Boreas did, not that she would admit it to her superiors. She peaked her head out the room. Nobody seemed to be in the hall. Very sus, she thought as she grabbed her Kadabra's Pokéball. There was normally someone walking down this hall at any given time. If worse comes to worse, then I'll have Kadabra teleport me to safety.

Dreams of colorful, unreal landscapes faded to a dull grey as Umo awoke, flat on her back in the middle of the warehouse. She groggily lifted herself up with a sticky tearing sound, her gooey inner core pulling away from the cold stone floor. She stretched out to her full height, standing a head taller at least than most of the shelves in this storage unit. She stretched further still, extending her core like a bizarre girafarig neck. All the humans in her room had gone it seemed, Umo pondered this as she ambled her way to the exit, leaving behind some half sorted crates.

I wonder where they all left in a hurry, not like them to leave me alone this long... she thought to herself.

Arriving at the door, she was faced with a bit of a problem. The humans that needed her help normally would have her in a Pokéball and only release her when there was work to be done. This meant that she never went around the small corridors on her own, she didn't really fit in the human sized door frames. She sat and considered her situation for a while.

No humans, no Pokéball...no one to tell me what to do. No one...to stop me from taking a lunch break?

The thought of an unsupervised lunch excited Umo more than anything, she rushed forward through the doorframe with a squelching noise. Her Reuniclus core spread to fill the corners of the corridor and she proceeded forward, sliding along on her slime trail, her Golurk torso and limbs dangling behind her making a ruckus. She paid it little mind, exploration and food was all she could think of right now. She took a few left turns then a few right, gliding along noisily and still no humans came out to stop her. Her memory was fuzzy but she did recall the ones in her room leaving, shouting over a pretty song that was coming from the speaker in the ceiling. She recalled dancing briefly to the tune as the humans had their back turned and then...a dream of the picture places she had seen in the human books. Vast sprawls of green and brown, towers of silver and metal, it all looked so magical...

Daydreaming, Umo barely noticed the panicked voice of a lady human. She was shouting down the hallway where Umo was, her voice too muffled behind big clothes to hear well.

"What...heck.... out!" the lady shouted as a bright red light emerged from her hand.

The light formed into a strange looking Pokémon that Umo had never met before, it was yellow like the goopy stuff that humans had on their food disks. It was holding a pretty silver spoon that it pointed at Umo.

Umo shouted down the corridor in response: "Hey there new guy! Sorry you can't eat me. The humans say I am "forbidden jello", I am not sure what it means but I think it means that I would make you sick."

The woman produced some more muffled words from the human before a bright purple flash that nearly blinded Umo. She flinched back, slowing her approach, but when she opened her eyes the Pokémon and its trainer were gone.
Huh, I guess they went to find somewhere warmer to play. That lady looked awfully chilly.

Umo slowed as she approached the spot where the lady had been and peeked through the small door she had left open. Perhaps this was the room with the frozen berries she had heard of? That would be mighty tasty right about now...

'Another day locked in captivity, another day of forced experiments'. Benison has long lost track of how long he's been locked up, but with how he hasn't seen the light of day in so long, it became impossible to know how long exactly is a day. He had just finished being forced to do more test by the scientists, and was now being thrown back into his dark cell. Under normal circumstances, he would've attempted to fight his captors and attempt yet another escape, but his latest test involved using psionics abilities, which have left him both physically and mentally drained. Knowing that he was unable to fight back, all they needed was a single grunt to pick him up, and take him back into his cell. 'Another day of headaches and migraines, another day locked in darkness'.

Once again being locked in his dark room, barely able to move due to the exhaustion, he pulled himself towards the small pile of hay by the corner of his room and laid there until he finally lost his consciousness.

    ------------------------------------------------------

His rest had been interrupted by the sound of his doors alarm noises, followed by the sound of it unlocking. It would only be a matter of time before a random grunt or scientist would pick him up in his weakened state, and forced into more experiments. Able to recover some strength, Benison stood up and prepared himself for whoever was about to come through the door... But nobody showed up. At first, he thought the grunts were playing a trick on him, but after a while of the alarms still going off, and no voices outside, he was lead to believe that no one was outside his cell. With caution, he made his way to the door, and creaked it open slowly in case this actually was a trap. Once the door was fully open, he was surprised by the sight. A few grunts and scientist were around the area, but all of them were lying unconscious. It took Benison a while to process what was going on in front of him, but he quickly came to a realization. 'I... can escape!?'.

As soon as that thought came to mind, he immediately made a dash to the hallways. He had been dragged and carried through some of these hallways, but as soon as he got out of his current floor, he would have no idea where he needed to go in order to get out. He also had no idea how long they were going to stay down, so he needed to be quick.

As Beryl awoke, she found herself in one of the observation chambers. Several dummies shaped like various Pokémon were strewn about the room, and a one-way mirror spanned the length of one of the walls. She'd been escorted here just before passing out, but what happened to all the scientists? Even if she couldn't see them, she could still sense their auras through the glass. Every single one was on the ground, as if they were just waking up as well.

This may just be my opportunity, she thought.

She'd need to find a way out of this room quickly. Teleportation was out of the question. While she'd managed to do so previously, she had very little control over where she ended up. In the tight corridors of this facility, the odds of teleporting herself inside of a wall were too high for her liking. Breaking through the glass wasn't an option, ether. It was likely reinforced, and even if she did manage to break through, the scientists would likely be awake and ready to subdue her by that point. With no other way out, she tried simply pulling the door handle, and much to her surprise, it opened without issue. Had one of the grunts really been careless enough to leave it unlocked?

Rushing out into the hallway, her problems were far from over. There were more Rocket grunts out in the hallway, and they were slowly beginning to wake up. Beryl's gaze moved upward, towards an air vent in the ceiling. A green glow enveloped her body as she began to float upwards, doing her best to ignore the worsening pain in her head. After pulling the grate off, she squeezed her way inside. It was a tight fit, but she managed to get in, just as the scientists began to rush out of the room in pursuit.

    "The test subject's escaping!"

"What's gotten into her? She's never done anything like this before."

The desperate cries of the scientists faded into the distance as Beryl moved through the air duct. Crawling would make too much noise and alert the grunts to her position, so she had no choice but to keep floating. Of course, this wasn't easy. What had started as a light throbbing pain in her head was now becoming more and more painful by the second. Still, she pressed on.

She eventually came across another grate. She wasn't entirely sure where she ended up. Just to make sure, she peeked down into the room below, only for her nose to start bleeding at the worst possible moment. In her panic, she released the psychic hold keeping her afloat, hitting the bottom of the air duct with a loud clang. She wasn't sure if anyone was in the room below her, but if there was, they certainly knew she was there now.

Aaron continued to run through the halls, attempting to find some way of escaping the facility. "This place is like a maze." He thought to himself.

After turning another corner, he stumbled upon a bunch of grunts that were currently sprinting down the hall, but paused as they noticed Auron. "Another one? Damn it, they're all getting out. Capture that Spliced Pokémon!"

The grunts all reached for their Pokéballs and charged at Auron. "You're not stopping me!" cried out Auron, as he let out a devastating Flamethrower that caused all of them to stumble back so they don't get burned to a crisp. That didn't stop Auron, however, who leaped through the flames and crashed into the lot of them with his Zen Headbutt, knocking several of them out and leaving the rest dazed.

"He's too strong!" One of the grunts said.

"No, you idiot. He got lucky!" Another snapped.

"Get that freak!" A grunt cried.

That statement echoed in Auron's head. "Freak! Freak! Freak!" The Golduck gritted his teeth, and his tail flame suddenly ignited higher than ever. "You dare call me a freak?!" He yelled, not caring if they understood or not.

Both of his fists went aflame with Fire Punches, walking menacingly towards them. "You stole me from my home." He charged forward and tackled two grunts simultaneously, punching them in the chest and immediately knocking them out. "You put me in constant pain, day in and day out." He backhanded another grunt with his flaming fist who approached from behind and thrust himself into another with a Zen Headbutt. "You turned me into a monster!"

He glanced over his shoulder to see the last remaining grunt had somehow obtained a net launcher and fired one at him. "You took everything from me!" A Hydro Pump roared out of his mouth and blasted the net away, while slamming the grunt into the wall, who slumped against it unconscious. Steam rose out of Auron's mouth and he collapsed on the floor, coughing and gagging from the pain the water caused him. Tears formed in his eyes, both from the pain and the fact that the element that had been his friend for the longest time was now causing him such pain.

Taking a moment to collect himself, he stood up, breathing hard from exertion. "I will never allow you to escape with what you've done to me. Never!"

Suddenly, he heard a noise from behind him and turned quickly with fury in his eyes, ready to fight as much as he had to in order to secure his freedom.

“What the heck?!” Margret had to stop dead in her tracks when she saw the Reuniclus approaching. This was no normal Reuniclus after all, and seeing it unsupervised raised some red flags. If it had gone rogue, she was in no position to handle it herself. “Come out!” she shouted as she opened her Kadabra’s Pokéball. In a red flash, the spoon wielding Pokémon emerged.

“Use Teleport!” she ordered. In another flash, she and her Kadabra were gone. She was stunned for a moment, however, when she came face to face with a very unhappy Golduck instead. “Get ready…” she told her Kadabra. All she had to do about the situation was “accidentally” teleport back to 99’s enclosure with this Golduck, and then she could enact her plan.

While the grunts laying on the floor around this Golduck were worrying, she had to help the escaped Pokémon find one of the others while making it look like an accident, and then find some way to fake her demise. She didn’t know if any of the cameras were working or if anyone was watching them, but she had to make it all look real just in case.

And then once she was out, she could go clothes shopping, destroy her uniform, and disappear.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boreas struggled against the metal restraints of the table, growling and grunting as he did. For now, he was on his own with no way of knowing when or if anyone was coming to his rescue. Even if he wasn’t completely tied down, ice wouldn’t help here. The cage absorbed his electric attacks, and he couldn’t summon rain while bolted down. That just left Dazzling Gleam, which wouldn’t be able to do much either. The Camerupt only snorted at the display.

“You may as well give up. You’re not getting out of this,” he pointed out.

“We-grr-don’t know that yet!” Boreas stated. Struggling against the restraints was proving fruitless, however. They had been thorough about restraining his movements. Still, he could see that the door had been left open either intentionally or unintentionally. Electricity danced across his fur as he let out a blast of lightning, which only got sucked into the nearest spike once again.

He knew this was pointless. Even if the cage didn’t absorb it, the one standing guard was a Ground Type. He did however hope the flash would catch someone’s attention. Glancing at the open door, he caught a glimpse of something green. A rainbow glow of Fairy-Type energy encompassed Boreas as the ten spheres adorning his body began to light up. He wasn’t sure he had shown his captors this move, but he had hoped it would do something so as to not leave any would be rescuers to do all of the work. The Camerupt could only watch on as any action on his part would do more harm than good.

The energy expanded outward violently, engulfing the table and the cage with him. When the Dazzling Gleam faded, it had actually done more damage to the cage than he had expected. Perhaps he could finish the job in two more blasts if he were at full strength. The cage appeared as if it would be able to take at least two more of the same strength without giving out, and he was unable to check the condition of the table.

“I don’t suppose you’ll help,” Boreas said sarcastically.

“Nah, I’d rather let you do that yourself,” Camerupt shot back. “Better I let you tire yourself out so I can knock you out easier.”

“What will you do after that? Sit on me?” Boreas remarked. “All I have to do at that point is use Dazzling Gleam until you get off.”

“There’s probably more than one cage like this here,” Camerupt pointed out.

“You’d have to put me in it first.”

It seemed like his plan of running away immediately was a good idea after all. As soon as he left the room, the scientist and a few grunts were beginning to wake up. Slamming the door behind him, he began running down the dark yet familiar corridors of the lab. His many forced trips to these parts were starting to give him some sort of upper hand in this situation.

"Crap, what just happened? One moment, I'm on break, then I'm suddenly waking up from this hard concrete floor. What's going on?" A voice had spoken from around one of the many corners of the hallway. Surprised by how close the voice had sounded, Benison attempted to stop running, causing him to accidentally trip over his own feet, Making a loud *THUD* while hitting the floor. "Huh, the heck was that!?"

Hearing the footsteps approaching him at a rapid pace, Benison had realized that he had nowhere to hide. Steeling his resolve to confront whoever came around the corner the grunt had poked his head around the corner, both parties making eye contact with each other. The eye contact didn't last long, as the grunt immediately backed up a bit before running in the opposite direction from Benison. "Shit, those things are escaping!?"

Benison, assuming that this grunt was going to call for backup, decided to give chase. Due to their great difference in physical abilities, Benison quickly caught up with the grunt. Wanting to end things quickly, Benison jumped up into the air, and landed one good attack to the back of the grunts head, knocking them back into unconsciousness. As soon as Benison wanted to take a short break, the sound of other voices coming from many directions made themselves known. Not wanting to deal with more grunts, he quickly bolted from the scene in the opposite direction from the voices.

Luckily for him, it didn't take him long to find what he was looking for. It was a big metal door with no handles, and a big line that splits if from the middle. Benison recalls the humans calling it an "Elevator". He had seen so many grunt go in and out of this door, so his best odds for leaving were through this door. But since the door did not have a handle, nor could it be pushed open, Benison had no idea how to open this door. As he was trying to figure out how to open the door, his thoughts were interrupted by a loud *CLANG*. Stiffening up at the alarmingly close sound, Benison quickly turns around only to find no one behind him. Looking around for whatever made that sound, he heard an audible sound of a drop hitting the floor, which caused him to notice a few blood drops on the concrete floor.

Looking up, he noticed the somewhat small vents above him, but more importantly, a figure up on the grates. It was very dark to see the figure for what it was, but he did notice one thing. Facial patterns that resembled that of a Beheeyem were apparent from where he was standing, although something was odd about it. Nonetheless, he was ecstatic to meet someone that was not a human nor their aggressive Pokémon. A bit concerned with the bleeding and not wanting to get caught by any possible nearby grunts, Benison spoke up in a hushed tone.

"Hey, you... up there in the vents. Look, I'm not a human, I don't know who you are, but can you help me get out of here? I've been locked down here and I just want to get out." Benison called out to the creature in the vent.

Beryl froze, hoping nobody was around to hear her just now. Much to her dismay, though, she heard footsteps down below. She wouldn't get much further floating through the vents. If there was a Rocket grunt here, her best chance would be to stay as quiet as possible and hope they just dismiss the sound they just heard. So, she held her breath and waited, at least until she heard a voice from below.

"Hey, you... up there in the vents. Look, I'm not a human, I don't know who you are, but can you help me get out of here? I've been locked down here and I just want to get out."

She let out a sigh of relief as she peeked down through the grate. Standing below her was a Hitmontop, though he looked quite unlike most of his kind. "You're... ngh... you're a hybrid too, aren't you?" She asked, wincing a little at the pain in her head. "I'll be right down, just... just gimme a second."

Grabbing onto the grate with both paws, she manages to pull it off, and sets it off to the side. She paused for a moment, as she internally debated whether or not she should use her psychic powers to slow her fall. It didn't seem to be too high, and using her powers in the condition she's in right now would only make things worse, so she decided against it. As she dropped down, she thankfully landed without injuring herself, though she was thrown off balance a little.

As she stumbled back to her feet, she put a paw on the wall to support herself. As she did so, she accidentally pressed some kind of button. It was marked with a triangle, which started to glow after she touched it, but it didn't seem to do anything else. She wasn't sure why it was there in the first place, but they had more important things to worry about.

"The humans... they're probably looking for us. We need to find-"

She was suddenly cut off by a mechanical-sounding *ding* as a door next to them began to open. On the other side was a small room, though unlike some of the storage closets scattered around the facility, this one looked like it was completely empty. How odd.

Sparkles and flashes of light dazzles Umo for a moment as she made her way into the small, chilly room. A strange looking hybrid lay on the table, strapped and held in a cage which seemed mighty uncomfortable. A big orange and brown Pokémon stood near by, huffing and grumbling at the one on the table. No frozen berries in sight sadly.

Still blinking out the floating dots from in front of her eyes, Umo entered the room proper in a bit of a squat to fit in the door frame. She had not been paying much attention to the talking in her excitement about the potential berry treasures within.

She called out loudly to the other two:
"Are they stuck? I can help!"

Auron locked eyes with the lone grunt who suddenly appeared behind him. He was extremely confused with how someone like that could have snuck up behind him, but his question was immediately answered when he noticed the Kadabra standing at her side. His guess was that she tried to teleport in behind him while he was distracted with her subordinates and take him out. A smart yet cruel plan, fitting for these evil humans.

His fists lit ablaze as he began to approach her, the momentary stunned look in her eyes vanishing and being replaced with a determined expression. "It doesn't matter how many of you come at me," he growled. He then blitzed forward, aiming to take both of them out with one punch, screaming, "I'm going to earn my freedom!"

    **~FLASH~**

The sensation of being teleported was not something he was used to, which disoriented Auron enough to miss his targets, punching and melting a good-sized hole into the ground. The first thing he noticed after getting his bearings and extinguishing the fire around his hands was the temperature, which was far cooler than normal, but not an unusual temperature for Auron's experience considering his personal containment method. The second thing he noticed was the large cage in the center of this new room he had found himself in, as well as its lone occupant, an icy blue Ninetales with bright yellow tails and paws, with each limb having been strapped down to a metal table and a muzzle covering its snout. It appeared to be just as surprised to see him as he did it.

He suddenly saw the grunt out of the corner of his vision rushing over to a Camerupt who also appeared confused, grasped it, and commanded her Kadabra to teleport once more, giving Auron an almost unnoticeable wink as she vanished. "Did...Did that human actually lead me to one of the other mutants? Why would she-"

A loud step snapped him out of it, and he looked up to see a goliath of a Pokémon standing above him, too overwhelmed to notice it until now. Having not seen any Pokémon from the Unova region before, he was taken aback by this stony yet jiggly creature, unsure if it even was a mutant or not. He readied a Flamethrower in the back of his throat to defend himself, in case this thing turned out to be hostile, as he was taking no chances here.

The Camerupt gave the slimy golem Pokémon a baffled stare. What on Earth was another spliced Pokémon doing here? Boreas gave the newcomer a toothy grin.

“Please do! I’m stiff as a board,” he responded.

    “What? No!” Camerupt objected.

“Pay the fire spitter no mind. He clearly has not thought this through,” Boreas pointed out.

Camerupt wasn’t sure what to do at this point. If this newcomer tried to fight him, he wouldn’t have a prayer unlike if he battled this Ninetails. That meant the only stop him from getting out was to preemptively attack the Ice Type. Boreas dropped his grin as flames wreathed the Camerupt’s mouth.

The temperature dropped in the already chilly room as snow and bits off ice started blowing around. Boreas’s Snow Warning had activated. It was then a rainbow colored light shown from the sphere in his forehead, projecting a veil of light over him as the volcanic Pokémon spewed his flames. While the Aurora Veil wouldn’t completely block the attack, it would at least take off half the damage from the super effective hit.

    “How rude,” Boreas uttered.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Margret and her Kadabra locked eyes with the spliced Golduck. While the Kadabra had to admit that he didn’t have the sanest trainer, she was an intelligent one. That was the sole reason he allowed his capture as an Abra. After what felt like an age, the Golduck made his move.

    “Now!”

With a flash, the Kadabra teleported himself and Margret back to the room she had been tasked with guarding, “accidentally” dragging the Golduck with them. Fortunately, the Ire Punch had missed its intended target. Margret looked from the less than pleased Alolan Ninetails to the Reuniclus and smirked behind the collar of her heavy black coat.

Seems she didn’t need make any further attempts at being convincing after all. If the other two spliced Pokémon that definitely weren’t supposed to be in the room freed the one that was supposed to be here, she would not only be outmatched, but outnumbered as well, and she doubted her superiors could argue with getting out of dodge in order to "regroup" and get some intel on the situation. Then she could plot out her disappearing act.

Reading her mind, the Kadabra teleported Margret and the Camerupt out of the room, leaving Boreas quite baffled as the snowstorm settled down.

He hadn’t expected her to actually come back with help, much less leave without a fight. His laughter over the matter was muffled only by the muzzle strapped to his head.

“I guess that human really did hate it here after all!” he noted. Out of all of the grueling days he had spent in captivity, he had to admit, this was the most entertaining by a long shot. “Still, I doubt we’ve seen the last of her. She’ll want to make sure she can leave this place without anyone else following her.”

As the fox like fusion finished their sentence there were a series of flashes. For a moment that human woman from before was back then she was gone again, taking the large humped Pokémon with her. She also left another fusion behind, a blue and yellow one with a flame on the end of its tail. The later looked a bit dazed from the flashes and Umo blinked hard to get the white dots out of her eyes. The fox like fusion was still strapped to the table and she wouldn't let that stand.

"I'll get the cage up, new friend could you get the straps?" Umo said carefully.

She had never met other fusions before, all the other ones she had seen were fast asleep in tubes and such, usually far away from her. The humans didn't want them meeting from what she had heard, easier to handle them that way. The golem made her way passed the new fusion and around to the back of the table, she grasped the sides of the cage, minding the trapped fusion's pretty tails and the large spikes sticking out of the cage.

    "One, two, three, HUP!"
Umo gave a great heaving yank upwards, the cage not budging at first. She persisted and heard a groaning noise as the metal bent, buckled then finally gave way. She lifted the cage as high as she could in the narrow room.
"C'mon now....I wont be able to hold this forever sadly."

The fire in the Golduck's throat died down as quickly as it had formed, the giant's nearly childlike mannerisms causing Auron's suspicion to quickly die away.

He stared as the golem walked forward and explained its plan to him, where he would be up close and personal with the Ninetales strapped to the table. Before he could question its motives for doing so, or whether it would even be safe to, she grabbed the cage and, with some effort, lifted the whole thing up, at least enough for him to slip through.

The giant Pokémon warned him that she couldn't hold it forever, so with the added urgency this statement caused, Auron stepped under the raised cage and stepped near the Ninetales. He couldn't understand why the air seemed to get even colder as he approached, though his best guess was that those humans must have tried to fuse the Fire type with an Ice type, much like how they attempted to fuse a Fire type into a Water type, which resulted in...him.

He looked hesitantly at the Ninetales, seeing that his eyes was filled with a deeper hatred than he ever bore, but he could tell there was a layer of grief in his expression, one of an unrelenting will that has refused to bow down to anyone, which took its toll over time. Seeing this, the Golduck placed his hands on the straps on his side, immediately causing them to heat up and weaken their bonds, before ripping them off. He then proceeded to quickly do the same on the other side, as well as the ones strapping its tails down. Finally, he moved to the muzzle, telling the Ninetales, "Don't even breathe," as he reached up to the strap holding the muzzle on, melting the material and immediately removing it from the Pokémon's head.

Despite wishing for his own freedom so badly just moments ago, giving that gift to someone else felt far better than he thought it would. It made him momentarily reflect on the happy days he spent as a normal Golduck. It felt...good.

Boreas watched as the slimy golem lifted up one side of the cage. He then let out a pained hiss as the other newcomer began to heat the metal bands. To him, it made slightly more sense to bust the cage wide open and have larger one peel the restraints off, but at least they were helping. Then again, perhaps they weren’t fully aware that this Ninetails was weak to Fire. He nodded in understanding as the fire type advised against breathing.

In the grand scheme of things, this pain was nothing compared to what the humans have already put him through. Especially since the Aurora Veil helped with some of it. Freed from his restraints, the Ice-Type stretched as he stood before darting out from under the cage. He then fanned his tail as he studied the Golduck. He had seen one of these Water-Types with one of the travelers that visited the mountain he had called home. Seeing the flame-tipped tail, he felt a twinge of sympathy. Having been given a conflicting type could not have been easy.

“I imagine they took something important from you as well,” he noted. “Bad news, you’ve probably freed one of the most dangerous ones here. The good news? I’m more than happy to help. Just be ready to deal with me when I lose it.” He put one his front paws to his chest. “They’ve done something else to me besides what you can see. I’m not sure what is myself. I just remember blacking out without those humans sticking me with one of those needles once before, specifically when I discovered what they had taken away.”

He looked at the damaged cage and the table he had been strapped to. “Whatever it was might have been the real reason why they were so thorough in keeping me tied down, but they probably would’ve gone this far without that. I would’ve kept lashing out at them every chance I got even without it.”

“I imagine they took something important from you as well.”

These words rang in Auron's ears as the Ninetales spoke to him. He felt like hearing those words made him want to immediately lash out in anger, but after glancing the blue and yellow Pokémon up and down now free from his binding, he knew this came from a place of understanding that only they would know.

Stepping out from under the cage the giant Pokémon was still holding up, he glanced behind him towards the Ninetales, saying with a fairly neutral tone, "Listen, I don't care how strong you are or if you happen to go out of control because of some latent power. If it helps you, me, and uhh...her, I suppose, get out of here, go nuts. But if you become a hinderance because you can't help yourself, then I'm not going out of my way to help you. My mission is escaping, then figuring out where to go from there. So, if you're coming, please try and keep yourself in check."

Now seeming to have calmed from his adrenaline-fueled burst from his own containment, he opened the door and, after taking a moment to decide, burst down the right hallway in his ongoing attempt to find the exit.

"You're... ngh... you're a hybrid too, aren't you?" The Pokémon in the vent asked. "I'll be right down, just... just gimme a second."

At first, Benison assumed that whatever was in the vents was just a Beheeyem trying to escape. What he didn't expect, was that the creature that came out of the vents, was in fact another hybrid much like himself.

This surprised Benison; not that he assumed he was the only hybrid, but just the confusion of actually meeting one. The other scientists never had him see or talk to any other Pokémon, unless he was fighting the grunts. He also didn't expect expect her to immediately lose balance, while blood was dripping out of her nose.

He immediately felt concerned over the Lucario/Beheeyem hybrid. She must have had a very bad time trying to escape. But before Benidon, could express his concerns, both hybrids heard a loud *DING* noise, followed by the metal doors opening.

"Did... did you open that door just now?" The hitmontop hybrid asked, looking at the direction of the other escapee. While waiting for her response, he noticed that near her paw, there was now a glowing button attached to the wall with a triangle on it. He found this curious, but decided to not think much if it.

Looking back at the now opened door. He noticed that it was empty inside, and that it was also quite spacious. Worrying about possible traps, he slowly made his way inside, making sure to check around the entrances for any possible ambushes. Confirming that the room was in fact 100% empty, he called out to the other hybrid.

"You're right about what you were saying before. Those humans are definitely coming to look for us. We need to get out of here as fast as possible. All I know is that we're underground somewhere, and we need to find our way back to the surface." Benison spoke, not sure how to address the strange Pokémon. "I have seen many grunts and scientists come out through this door. So this door has to lead us somewhere, because there's not really any thing humans would consider a livable space down in the basements. But honestly, I have no idea what this room is. It's just so empty."

As he continued to search around the room, he noticed something strange next to the door from the inside of the room. Right next to the door was a strange panel with two buttons on it. One with a triangle up top, and one with a upside down triangle at the bottom. Strangely enough, unlike the button from outside, none of these were glowing.

"Hey, take a look at this." Benison began to speak once again. "These look like the same strange buttons on the outside. I might not know much about human technology and how it works, but I am willing to bet that these things can help us get out somehow."

"Either way, it's probably safer behind me. I wouldn't want you getting zapped if one of my electric attacks misfires if I'm supposed to be helping," Boreas pointed out. It hadn't been because he thought he was stronger necessarily, but out concern over not knowing what else was done to him. Aside from accidentally hitting this Golduck with a blast of lightning, he was concerned that it made him a hazard.

He poked his head out of the open door and glanced in both directions. It seemed empty, but he doubted that would last. He sniffed the air to see if he could detect any enemies. He could only get the scent of his fellow hybrids, one of them having an earthly scent about them. Perhaps the slimy one was a Ground Type? He shook his head. That much didn't matter. The only way to keep from hitting an ally in front of him was to actually blast lightning.

He followed the Golduck down the hall at first before moving on ahead. If he was going to fight, he needed to make sure he only hit the enemy and not anyone else. At the thought of confrontation, electricity danced across his fur of its own volition. Sure, he imagined this Golduck could take a Blizzard, but freezing him could prove problematic. Soon, he came up on a group of grunts. One of them took notice of the blue and yellow Ninetails as the temperature in the hall dropped.

"Who let the Ninetails loose?!" he demanded as snow and ice began to fly around the corridor.

Snow Warning had kicked in once more, but Boreas wasn't content with just that. No, he needed them to freeze. With a howl, Boreas sent a Blizzard straight for them. The grunts that didn't get fully encased in ice had their feet frozen to the floor, and a few even had a hand frozen to the wall. If looks could kill, these humans would have already been dead by this point.

Auron jogged down the hall, hearing the padded footsteps of the Ninetales and the clomping ones of the other Pokémon, knowing they were keeping pace. Suddenly, the Ninetales burst ahead of him, causing the Golduck to grunt in frustration. "Curses. What is his problem?" he thought to himself as he watched the Ninetales disappear around the corner.

Auron suddenly felt the air grow colder, with a fierce wind from seemingly nowhere blustering through the halls. He heard a human shout something, and realized the Ninetales had charged into a fight like he had feared. Suddenly, more wind and snow began to dance around the hall, causing Auron to stand back, though the majority of it seemed to have been focused further down the hall. "A Blizzard?" Auron pondered to himself as he finally caught up with the fox.

A frozen wasteland was what greeted the Golduck past the Ninetales, who looked back at him with a fairly neutral expression. The humans that were there had either frozen solid or became incapacitated by the flurry of ice, and Auron was suddenly quite glad this Pokémon was on his side. He began to trudge through the icy hall, his feet melting the ice below him so he didn't slip and slide like a moron, when something on one of the humans caught his eye.

Dangling from one of the humans was some kind of plastic rectangle, a "card" if he remembered their phrasing, which Auron remembered them using to access the testing room in which he was constantly put under strenuous experiments over many, many days. Something like that would not escape his attention, and now here it was, hanging out in the open for him.

"Hey, stay away you freak!" The grunt cried out, completely immobilized as his hands had stuck themselves to the wall and his feet to the floor. With a sly smirk, Auron walked towards the grunt with menace in his eyes. He grabbed the wire which the card was attached, and immediately applied heat to melt and snap the wire, taking the plastic key with an exaggerated swipe. Holding it up in front of his face and he strained to free himself, Auron walked away as he started screaming at the Golduck to give it back at once.

He might be attempting to escape with his life, but he felt taking some measures of pleasure when he could wouldn't hurt his mission too much. He waved to the other two to keep moving, and proceeded back down the hall at his previous pace.

It took a moment for Umo to notice the other two had already left down the hall, she had been distracted by the tingling sensation of flecks of ice forming on her more liquid ooze parts. She blinked herself back to the moment and let go of the cage with a bit of a startling smash. Not wanting to be left alone again she stepped over the table and took her more compact form once more, the earthen golurk limbs clambering around behind her and the ooze filling the corridor like a cube of green gelatin. She slid down the hall after her new friends, barely hearing them talking.

That tingling sensation returned again as the temperature dropped suddenly in the hallway, Umo turned the corner and was mesmerized at the site. The humans had made icy statues that looked like their friends and decorated the hallway here! Some of them where playing in the ice and snow against the wall as her Pokémon friends walked past.

"Hey you! B1-0z!" a woman in a grunt outfit said in a low voice. "Let us out of here!"

Umo turned her head towards the lady but did not recognize her. The golem paused for a moment, hesitating between the human and the group of hybrids that were already walking off, further down the hall. The humans seemed pretty busy and they rarely ever let her wander around like this. It was always "Lift that, bring this down, flatten this..." which was fun at first but got pretty boring.

"C'mon you big pot of jello, hurry up!" the woman snapped, a bit louder this time.

This made Umo recoil a bit, this lady sounded bossy and mean to boot.

"Maybe later snow lady, have fun making snow people!" Umo called back in return.

The woman furrowed her brow, looking pretty dumbfounded at the sight of Umo sliding away. The golem hummed as she slid across the ice that had formed on the floor, using the speed to catch up a bit with her new Pokémon friends.
