Group RP Pokemon: Evolution Quest (IC thread)

Xuehua, too, ducked out as soon as she could. "Both of you are doing okay in this weather, right? It's probably only going to get colder from here on out."

 

"Oh, hey guys," the appearances of a certain Eevee tactician and Glaceon mage snapped Blacky back to reality. "I'm good, thanks," he answered both questions. To be fair though, the Umbreon swordsmon most likely would jog around to keep himself warm. "Just forgot to ask Lady Aine if she wants a thick dress or something," he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head at that.

 

(In that case, I shall assume that her current cloak isn't thick enough. )

Still filled with guilt, Blacky came back to the shop. Took his time for another round of browsing until eventually settling for a pink and white cloak with rounded fluff that looked like it would fall down to Aine's mid-thigh. Perfect for hiding her blue body, he thought.

So he decided to buy that.

"I'm okay, for now. If it does get colder, I might need a warm drink or make a campfire to keep us going," Atelier replied to Xuehua. He was particularly puzzled when Blacky walked back in just like that with no explanation. It appeared he had conflicting emotions within him.

Blacky really cared for Lady Aine, didn't he?

Turning to Xuehua, he said, "Everything going okay? You seem unsettled." If he didn't know better, he would have guessed this place was familiar to Xuehua. There was no way he could confirm that, of course.

 

(I'M SORRY SAF HOLD UP DID YOU JUST SAY FIVE IN THE MORNING POST????)

Atelier's voice startled Xuehua more than she would like to admit. "Huh?! Oh, right. Just thinking about the cruelties of the Dragon King here, that's all. Do you even think this part of Ardamore was always cold like this?"

Of course, that was a lie, but it was far from unbelievable. She had thought about that, just not at that precise moment.

 

(Crikey, @SAF 5AM?)

Atelier clearly saw Xuehua being a little jumpy, as if she had snapped out of a trance. "Right, well, if there's any correlation between the cold and the Dragon King, that's something else. Otherwise, you would think that this place has always been cold." He looked at Xuehua again. "You sure you're okay? Do you need any medicine? The shop might have something." Then he finished buttoning up his vest.

 

(Yups. I do wake up at 4 am tho. My braincells can be that weird. )

"I do think it's always cold here, though," Blacky chimed in with Aine's new cloak in tow as he came out from the tailor's shop. Again. "Well, not as cold as right now, but why else would ice-types call this home?"

And then he saw Xuehua in her snippy state. His last sentence probably tugged something in her heart, being an ice-type and all. "You okay, though?"

 

"I am, don't worry. It's just taking in the idea of all this. You know, I'm not from Ardamore, so it's a little wild to me for this to not be... natural." Xuehua kept her focus on looking natural though her lies were building up. "And don't worry about the temperature. I took on that lava lair, you bet I can take the cold."

"Yeah, right. You're an ice-type, I get it," Blacky rolled his eyes at the Glaceon's remark. To be fair though, he didn't even try to find out about Xuehua's origin -- he's just poking fun at her obviously natural resistance to the cold instead.

That said, the Umbreon wasted no time making his way back to the tavern in case Aine's still there. She might as well be his liege lady at this point.

 

"Yeah," the lunar swordsmon nodded to the fairy-type minstrel. Out of the new wares her allies had bought and already worn, Blacky's cloak was the most noticeable one because Atelier's vest was being worn under his signature robe and Xuehua didn't even buy anything. "I just hope this' gonna fit you..." Blacky gave Aine the new pink and white cloak that was still wrapped in a paper bag. (That is, if paper bag is a thing here.)

 

"M-hm," Blacky nodded again, this time with a relieved smile. Deep down he was glad that Aine loved her new cloak big time.

A moment later, "Well, if you'll excuse me, I need to go now," the Moonlight Pokémon excused himself to look for an archery range. He wanted to learn the move Spirit Shackle from that one scroll he got from Piquedilly's adventurer guild, preferably ASAP.

 

Atelier had followed Blacky around to the point where he had given Aine the new cloak. It seemed that Aine liked it. Well! That was very thoughtful of Blacky! If he didn't know better, he might have interpreted Blacky's gesture in the same way that Atelier himself did with Xuehua (that is, as a flirt, when he gifted her a pair of Thundara Gauntlets). Now that was another story.

But by then, Blacky had taken off for elsewhere. "I think we're equipped to head out now. So what's next?" he asked Aine.

 

"Shouldn't we scope out the lair, at least?" Xuehua asked. "If Blacky's gone off we can arrange for the actual raid to be tomorrow, if not in a few days, but it'll probably be best if we give the place a look around."

As for Blacky's gifting of the cloak, any implications of that had flown over his teammate's head faster than a Dreepy on its first baby-missile-shooting. (And any romantic intentions that Atelier had were a couple miles above that!)

 

As with any other open fields in Ludester, the archery range was covered in snow. It took Blacky awhile to make out the targets there which were also covered with snow. He then opened his Spirit Shackle scroll and read the move's overview written on it.

According to the scroll, Spirit Shackle can be either luna- or shadow-type depending on the user's innate power and allegiance. In Blacky's case, it definitely would be luna-type considering his current quest against the evils plaguing his beloved home. Plus, he's a freakin' luna-type himself, for Arceus' sake. It's the most obvious thing as an Umbreon that only dunces would fail to notice.

With that in mind, the Umbreon took his Umbreon bow out, then infused his innate power into one of the arrows and shot it to a snow-covered target. Sure, it hit the target and cleared off the snow covering it, but still didn't change the fact that he used a simple Moon Arrow for it. And now to work on the actual luna-oriented Spirit Shackle itself...

Atelier replied to Xuehua, "Good idea. We'll need as much intelligence as we can get before heading out. I want to craft a strategy for us." He decided to head out to the cold (thankfully his vest kept him toasty) where he then looked around for a local library. If there was no library, then some kind of town archive would do. As he did, he hauled his book of battle strategies around.
