Thërimiir: Age of Sword - Discussion thread and Sign ups
Hello everyone! This is the sign up thread for my roleplay, so post your character apps here. This thread is also going to be used for discussion and questions, so if you have anything to ask me, feel free!

    Races
As mentioned in the backstory, there are many races in this world. Your character can be any one of these, it's up to you! Also, many of the races excel at certain classes as opposed to others, but this doesn't mean you have to pick the best possible class for a race. I also reccommend looking up any races you're unsure about, so you have a better idea of what they look like.

-Humans: Humans are among one of the more common races throughout Thërimiir. They are strong and resilient, capable of using their minds to do great things. Humans are also very adaptable, capable of many different fighting styles.
Pros: Humans are able to use any class with a fair amount of skill, so they are easily the most adaptable race. Play a human if you want to be relatively good at whatever class you pick.
Cons: Their ability to do well at almost any class is made worse by the fact that they cannot truly master it. Example: No matter what, an elf ranger will almost always outclass a human ranger.

-Elves: The elves are a race of tall, slender warriors. They fight for the sake of good and good alone. An elf will never back down without a fight. They can be socially awkward at times due to their disconnection to the general society, but they are also very devoted to friendships. Elves make some of the best rangers, and are a crack shot with a bow and arrow. Elves also make decent clerics and assassins.
Pros: Elves are very nimble and have a keen eye. They can easily spot things out of the ordinary, even at great distances.
Cons: Elves don't boast very much strength in comparison to other races, so fighting at a distance is your safest option.

-Dwarves: Dwarves are small, tough folk who have long beards and a deep sense of community. Most dwarves are mountain dwellers, and as such are able to see in the dark very well. A dwarf will always lead the charge on a battlefield, despite their below average height. They are very beefy warriors, and can easily take alot of hits. Dwarves can be seen as loud and unruly, but they are a kind race that will use anything at their disposal to win the fight. Play a dwarf if you want to shrug off attacks as if they were nothing.
Pros: Dwarves have good eyesight in the dark, and are very beefy fighters. Dwarves favor the defender, warlord and cleric classes.
Cons: They may be able to take a hit, but they aren't the best at giving that damage back. Dwarves are all about defense, so use your weapons wisely to complement this trait.

-Argonians: These lizard creatures dwell in swamps and caves across Thërimiir, and can swim better than any fish you'll ever see. They can breath underwater and see in pitch darkness. Argonians are all about stealth, and they fit the bill perfectly, able to take to the water if trouble arises. It's no surprise that the Argonians are some of the greatest assassins alive. They are gruff, ruthless and have sided with the enemy in the past. They don't care who it is they work for, and can generally seem like an evil race by others. Manage to build a relationship with one, and he will be an ally who would defend you to the death.
Pros: The are completely adept at underwater travel and combat. They cans see, breath and swim underwater better than any other creature, and they can see in very dark places, much like dwarves. Most Argonians are assassins, although there are a few good strikers and rangers in the lot.
Cons: The Argonians may have scales, but they are still quite fragile, save a few select individuals. Don't expect to take a ton of hits during battle. Dipping in and out of combat is your best strategy. They are also generally unfeeling and blunt towards others, so it may be difficult to build a relationship with one.

-Half-elves: This hybrid species of elves and men are essentially bulkier, more defensive elves. They hold up longer in a fight, but don't put out nearly as much damage as a normal elf. Like humans, they can do good at most classes, except for warlords and clerics. For some odd reason, Half-elves are one of the only races capable of using the Paladin class. They excel at this class especially.
Pros: They are adaptable like humans, and have a class almost completely unique to them. They have a fair amount of bulk on them and can take more hits than normal elves.
Cons: They aren't as keen eyed with a bow as normal elves, and aren't nearly as nimble. They are also horrible warlords and clerics, so don't expect to use those classes with much success as a half elf.

-Dragonborn: The Dragonborns are a race humanoid dragon folk. They are natural born leaders, and have a deep sense of honour. To them, honour is worth dying for. Their dragon like anatomy makes them some of the toughest and burliest warriors, and although they aren't as tough as dwarves, they make up for it with their dragon abilities, such as the ability to spit fire or poison. Some dragonborn even have wings, which they can use to fly for short periods of time.
Pros: Dragonborn can hit many foes at once with things like their breath attacks. Dragonborn also have a great deal of mobility, if they are lucky enough to be born with wings. Dragonborns make the best warlords, and are also strong strikers. They will last a good amount of time on the battlefield, taking hits relatively well.
Cons: They are the slowest race, and also one of the loudest. They aren't the sort to carry out a stealth mission, and their breath weapon easily drains them of their energy.

-Eladrin: The Eladrin are essentially high elves, and are very familiar with magical abilities and powers. They are a very wise and fair race who do not meddle in the day-to-day squables of others. They are famously reclusive, and are hardly seen by anyone but the elves. They are natural magicians and wizards, and have very keen hearing.
Pros: The Eladrin are very powerful with magic. They excel at the wizard, Paladin and cleric classes. They are very wise and smart fighters, and can deal damage in a wide space with magical spells and weapons. They also have the ability to briefly teleport up to 10 meters, giving you an easy way around traps.
Cons: The Eladrin are one of the weakest races defensively, so make sure you've got a defender nearby to make up for that weakness. You'll want to keep away from the center of the fight, using your magic to help others from afar.

-Tiefling: Tieflings are considered by many to be in allegiance with the enemy. They are nasty and ruthless killers, or at least most of them are. There are a few who are good, but even they struggle with right and wrong at points. They are independent, ruthless and strong, and may very well be the spawn of the underworld, as they are capable of using very dark magic.
Pros: They are strong assassins and wizards, and can make good strikers because of their sheer strength. They also have an immunity to fire, and can see in the dark due to their being cave-dwellers.
Cons: The are generally considered to be the scum of Thërimiir, and are ignored and even punished for no good reason. They are also weak to many water and ice based attacks, so be careful when fighting foes who can use magic of this type.[/spoiler]

    Classes
As with the races, there are many different classes to pick from. Each one has unique skills and abilities. Certain races are better at particular classes than others, so make sure to take that into account.

-Striker: Strikers are very well rounded fighters. They can deal good damage, take hits well and can even use magic, although it requires intense training.

-Defender: Defenders are essentially meat shields for weaker classes, so expect to take a lot of hits while playing this class. You can use very heavy weaponry due to your general bulk, but your slowness may be your downfall.

-Assassin: The Assassin is the fastest of all the classes. You are nimble, quick and can deal a high amount of damage to a single target. They are fragile, so dipping in and out of combat is your best strategy.

-Ranger: Rangers are at the advantage at a distance, so make sure you've got a bow close at hand. Rangers focus on ranged attacks, although a few of them use a dual weapon melee style fighting technique. Like assassins, you are pretty fragile, so watch your back.

-Cleric: Clerics are medical geniuses, and can use a variety of healing spells and powers to grant buffs to your team. Clerics have good defensive power and can use most heavy weapons.

-Warlord: Warlords are a combination of clerics and strikers, able to heal the party and hit with good power. They are usually the ones leading the charge, and are good, strong leaders.

-Wizard: Wizards mainly use crowd control tactics, hitting many enemies at once with spells and incantations. Wizards generally stay out of the midst of battle, attacking from a distance. They are very fragile, almost as much as assassins, so make sure you've got a defender nearby to watch your back.

-Paladin (Exclusive to Eladrin and Half elves): Paladins draw their power from the deity they worship, and can use powers based on the deity they revere. For example, A paladin who worships a god of lightning can summon lightning blots, etc. Other than that, they are essentially defenders with weaker defensive capabilities.

    I can't believe I forgot my own form ^_^' Also, @[member="Primal26"], you're accepted.

    Username: GlaceonSilver
    Name: Cythriel Arlayana
    Age: 27
    Gender: Female
    Race: Elf
    Class: Assassin
    Primary Weapon: Wooden Longbow
    Secondary Weapon: Spiked Chain Whip
    Appearance:
Personality: Cythriel is relatively quiet and reserved, and she prefers solitude to the company of others. Despite this, she is a strong leader and an excellent strategizer, masterminding and executing many jobs and assassinations across the land. Because of her profession, she has learned to shut off her emotions, as she deems them as nothing more than "a distraction". Inside though, under all the coldheartedness, lies a ticking time bomb. She's not the type you want to upset. Lucky for most people though, this happens very rarely. Cythriel's never give up attitude has earned her a reputation as the "shadow of death", hunting targets relentlessly and unforgivingly, like a shadow.

Backstory: Cythriel grew up rich and pampered, treated like royalty in Elveswood. Despite her forune and money, she was always a rebel and an outcast, considered by many to be pompous, stuck-up and self centered. She had little to no friends, and here parents practically ignored her. Without the watchful eye of a parent or guardian, her rebellious attitude eventually got her a 10 year prison sentence for the brutal assault of many citizens, as well as dealing in the black market. Her family disowned her, dictating her "a disgrace to the family name". Cythriel's sentence was hard on her, being unacustomed to prison life. She was often beaten and abused by others. Because of this, she took it upon herself as a vow to bring as many criminals as possible to justice, dead or alive.

Upon her release from prison, Cythriel was expelled from her hometown, designated as an outlaw and criminal. With nowhere to go, Cythriel was forced to raid passing travellers for whatever they had on them, even in full knowledge that she was breaking the vow she had made to herself. From these experiences, she learned how to fight. Cythriel's situation also forced her to learn stealth and assassination skills, as they were mandatory for her survival in the world that had alienated her and destroyed what little future she had left.

Cythriel eventually managed to rebuild herself, taking small jobs and work wherever she could find it. Most of these never laste dmore than a week, and so she was always on the move, travelling the land of Thërimiir in search of work. Taking an assassinaation mission on a whim, she slowly moved into the business as a professional assassin and bounty hunter, using it as a way to make up for her previous crimes.

On one of her more recent missions, she was asked to take out the orc leader to the high north, for a very handsome reward. Upon reaching the mountains, she discovered not a legion of soldiers led by a feeble leader, like she had been told, but rather a giant operation created solely for the purpose of war. Cythriel left the mountain as fast as her horse could carry her, with solemn thoughts on the future that lay ahead for all, if it could not be stopped.
Other: In this Roleplay, you live and die by the sword. Good luck!

    Name: Ethan Davidson
    Age: 17
    Gender: Male
    Race: Human
    Class: Wizard
Primary Weapon: Fire staff (casts fire spells)
Secondary Weapon: A gem on his staff that allows him to send thoughts into others' minds (not really a weapon, but more like a way of talking)
Appearance: (A picture will do, or at least 3 lines of description. Bear in mind that this is all medieval, so design your character accordingly.)
Ethan wears a gold talisman that contains a ruby in it. Along with a hooded white robe with gilded decorations, he wears a mask to cover his mouth (like this), even when his hood is up. His staff is a long birch twig with bark striped off, yet leaving the knots and twists in the wood with a gold socket and a ruby in it at the end. His other gem on his staff is a deep shade of purple, and is on the side.
    Personality: (At least 3 lines)
Ethan doesn't talk much, (I mean, not like he can) however, he still remains cheery. Sometimes he becomes wistful however, thinking of the days he could talk. In battle, he is very energetic, and great at staying on top of things, and where everyone is. Sometimes he struggles to understand simple things, as he believes that using logic he could find a better way. After some convincing, he'll cooperate though.
    Backstory: (At least 3 lines)
At an early age, Ethan was captured by an enemy empire who used him as a slave. He often rebelled and snapped at anyone telling him what to do. Finally, they cut his tongue off, making him mute. One day, he found a way to escape and immediately made his way to a town, where he found a wizard. Not knowing how to read or write, he could not communicate with him or ask him how to talk again. However, the Wizard could easily tell the problem. he gave Ethan a staff with two gems. One that allowed him to manipulate fire, and one that allowed him to communicate telepathically.

@[member="AzrielCais"] To a certain extent. By this I mean you can use the excuse that it's powered by magic if you really want to, but as a general statement I'd say no. Sorry. Also, we'll probably start soon, just as a heads up.

    Name: Skarath

    Age: 27

    Gender: male

    Race: half-elf

    Class: Assassin

Primary Weapon: A long crooked metal scythe, made entirely of iron, with the word Sword engraved in it. it has seen better days.

Secondary Weapon: A vial of gunpowder ((a very explosive medieval grenade))

    Partner: (Beastmasters only)

    Element: (Elementals only)

Appearance: He stands at 5'9", with a slightly thicker build than normal elves. He has white spiky hair, reaching his shoulder. He's very athletic, and focuses more on mobility than attack. He wears a mask that looks like this: http://www.spirithal...teractive.a.jpg , but with the holes covered in black string that he can look through. He has a black hood covering the rest of his head and face. He wears no armor, due to the fact that he thinks flexibility and mobility is more important. When people ask him why, he gives them a note saying "why take hits, when you can avoid them?". He's covered in black robes over his whole body. ((remember that this means you don't know his race)) His scythe is strapped on a leather belt, going from his right shoulder, down to his left hip.

Personality: He's mute, and usually communicates with small paper notes. He will protect his friends with his life, and will do anything for anyone important to him. He usually tells people that he is human, because of his backstory. He's very naïve, and will believe almost anything that people tell him. When it comes to combat, he has no feelings and will kill for fun. He lacks humor. His scythe is very dear to him, and he has named it Sword. He'd have a good knowledge with scythes, if that ever came into the roleplay.

Backstory: He grew up in a small village, filled with humans. Therefore, he were neglected by most of the town citizens, and he never really had friends. The fact that he couldn't speak, didn't make it easier. He never went to school, and he only learned to read because it was needed. His parents, a human man and a elven woman, would teach him not to be social, and instead do housework. One day when he was cleaning, he took a broom and started swinging it around. His parents would not find out, since they were at work. When he was 19 years old, he fled from home with the broom. He would work at a local farmer and sleep in the woods. Eventually he bought his own scythe and named it sword. 3 years later, he started assassination, and since then, he became known as "The sad one" in the media.

Other: His scythe is named Sword

    Race: Elf

Primary Weapon: Throwing knives connected to wires, Can be used as close range fighting weapon, but prefers to use them out of opponents range.
    Secondary Weapon: Rapier.
    Appearance:
Personality: Rin is... Different... She is a very shy girl, often preferring to be alone. If a task needs doing, no doubt she'll be the first to offer a hand. In truth, she is a very caring person, but you may never know. It takes you getting past the mental barriers she has placed up to prevent her from being hurt. She wants to love, but never found anyone she could let in without fear. On the outside, she acts cold and heartless. This is how she deals with her job, killing any who she is told, and how she deals with people in general. She is usually found on the outskirts of camp, standing guard or looking for supplies the part could use. In the end, if you can become her friend, you have a reliable friend for life. if you don't, you just have a loyal, but incredibly dull person.
Backstory: Rin Vehara is not the holder of the happiest story. Her clan, The Sylvok, is feared among many. They are an organization known to do many things, but notably killing. For a price her clan would take any life. Rin was born to a pair of merchants, who were unable to raise her due to the business requiring travelling to dangerous lands. Instead she lived in the family home, attended to by the servants. one day, when she was 5, a group of bandits attacked her parents on their trip home. Both were killed, and left the business to an uncle. The uncle saw no use for Rin, And chose to send her to the orphanage. Several days latter she had sneaked into his home and poisoned him. Little did she know that a sylvok Agent had been paid to kill him also. he Decided to take her under his wing, Taking her back to the headquarters. Her life was then filled with training ruthlessly for hours, before given the right to sleep. It was here she learned her weapon styles under the tutelage of master assassins. Eventually she grew to take jobs, learning how to shut off her mind to be able to kill without feeling. However, the life became to much. Killing innocents was not for her. Instead she ran. She ran to a nearby town, and started a new life. She began to hunt down Criminals and bring them to justice. Never reavealing herself to the the lawmen, she became known as "The phantom of the Law."
Other:She has several scars from intense fights and beatings. She also has changed her name three times in the past.
