Well if you're interested in japanese game series....
    Here's Touhou Project ^o^!
These games are designed by Team Shanghai Alice also known as ZUN which is only 1 person.
He has started this series since 1996.
So here's a list of all the games separated...~
    PC98(Windows 95-98):
    Touhou 1 - Highly Responsive to Prayers(1996)
    Touhou 2 - Story of Eastern Wonderland(1997)
    Touhou 3 - Phantasmagoria of Dim.Dream(1997)
    Touhou 4 - Lotus Land Story(1998)
    Touhou 5 - Mystic Square(1998)

And after that ZUN left the company where he worked and started by himself the new series. And apart from that the canon story of Windows is separated from the PC98 series meaning they have no relation(even though there are a few characters from PC98 in windows).
    Windows Series:
    Touhou 6 - Embodiment of Scarlet Devil(2002)
    Touhou 7 - Perfect Cherry Blossom(2003)
    Touhou 8 - Imperishable Night(2004)
    Touhou 9 - Phantasmagoria of Flower View(2005)
    Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith(2007)
    Touhou 11 - Subterranean Animism(2008)
    Touhou 12 - Undefined Fantastic Object(2009)
    Touhou 13 - Ten Desires(2011)
    Touhou 14 - Double Dealing Character(2013)
    Touhou 15 - Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom(2015)

Between those games there are other games that have the same category of Vertical shooting game but with differences:
    Touhou 9.5 - Shoot the Bullet(2005)
    Touhou 12.5 - Double Spoiler(2010)
    Touhou 12.8 - Fairy Wars(2010)
    Touhou 14.3 - Impossible Spell Card(2014)

And finally after he started on the windows series he added fighting games too:
    Touhou 7.5 - Immaterial and Missing Power(2004)
    Touhou 10.5 - Scarlet Weather Rhapsody(2008)
    Touhou 12.3 - Hisoutensoku(2009)
    Touhou 13.5 - Hopeless Masquerade(2013)
    Touhou 14.5 - Urban Legend in Limbo(2015)

As you can see there a lot of games, and even a lot of characters too(6 to 10 in the main ones[6,7,etc]), in fighting games(1 to 2 characters) and in the other games(1 to 3 characters).

My question is have you played one of Touhou games? What do you think about it?
As me, i played many of the games and i still keep playing.
    Left your opinions ;3!

Well now im going to explain how the game works!
First many of the games give you these settings:
Difficult, there are 4 types of difficult:
    Easy, Normal, Hard and Lunatic.

And after choosing the difficult, you can choose the girl(yes the protagonists are girls with magic and powers there are no playable boys in these games) you want to use, the ones that are always avaible are:
-Reimu Hakurei, the shrine maiden(avaible in all the main games).
-Marisa Kirisame, a magician(avaible in all the main games).

    Other protagonists in main games:
    -Sakuya Izayoi, a maid(avaible in TH07, TH08, TH09 and TH14).
    -Youmu Konpaku, a gardener and fencing instructor(avaible in TH08, TH09 and TH13).
-Sanae Kochiya, another shrine maiden(avaible in TH12, TH13 and TH15).
-Reisen Udoingein Inaba, a moon rabbit(avaible in TH09 and TH15)

The main games have 7 stages(except TH09 that is kinda different)(6 stages that are part of the game events and the seventh stage is the Extra Stage).
And now an example of stage 1:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNU6tZIBrvU
    The controls are basic:
Press Z to shoot bullets to beat enemies and the bosses.
Press X to activate a bomb, which is very powerful but use them when you feel cornered.
Press Left Shift to enter in focus mode, when you enter focus mode the hitbox will be visible on your character, if a bullet from the enemies hit your hitbox you will lose a life.
Use the arrows(up, down, left, right) to move.

And now back to the stages.
As i stated before the main games have 7 stages, but 6 are part of the main event.
After you beat stage 1 you will move to stage 2 and then like that until you get to Stage 6.
Also as more stages you keep passing the difficult will be getting harder on the stages.
    An example of stage 6:

And if you succedfully beat the last stage including the boss, you will unlock the Extra Stage!
Now the last part, the Extra Stage...
The Extra stage can be as the next final event after the main events, in the extra stage you will have to use your skills at the max because extra stages are not easy...
    Example of Extra Stage:

And that's how the main games works~ Later i will explain how the spinoff games works and fighting games too ;3!

You should definitely give it a go! Just don't give up on your first try, it takes a few hundred to finish one game. There's like 15 too, which is nice...

In all seriousness, I absolutely love the games. While it's pretty hard to beat the first time around, you do get better with time and once you've mastered one game, while the others are still hard, it becomes easier. Touhou is also known for amazing music and I agree with that statement, it's got some great soundtracks. Give it a go, you might like it, I know I do. c:

If I'm not mistaken, there's an anime adaptation too! It's just such a big world, Touhou. xD

What is your favourite Touhou game?

I've tried installing the earlier parts of the series with a Windows 98, but for some reason it didn't run properly so I gave up on it. Are the later parts worth playing too?

If you're up for a challenge, very much so! I recommend starting with The Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil (Touhou 6) since it's a little easier and as an added bonus, the first game from the Windows series. The old ones are quite buggy anyway, especially the English patches.

    PS: Reimu Hakurei is amazing.

    Sorry for the late response~!
My favorite touhou games are Touhou 8(first one i played), Touhou 3(i just love Yumemi) and Touhou 15(so great)!

Yeah to play Touhou 1-5 games you need an emulator, to play those games, and besides there are english versions for those! If you're still interested send a PM~!

    Btw, a new touhou manga:
Touhou Sangetsusei ~ Visionary Fairies in Shrine
