Just wondering which one I should buy. Is the XL worth the extra money, or should I just stick with a regular 3DS?

I'd say the XL is definitely worth the extra money, if not just for longer battery life and larger screens. The XL's casing is also matte and therefore rather fingerprint-proof, as opposed to the glossy casing of the original 3DS. I personally find it a lot easier to hold, as well, and it's actually not that huge compared to the original 3DS. It all comes down to personal taste in the end, though- but if you prefer a larger screen when playing games, I'd say the XL would suit you well.

I don't really see the difference between the two. I like the battery life on the normal sized one and the fingerprint thing can easily be fixed if you are wearing a shirt which you can rub the screen with. But, as Del said, the decision comes down to you.

I think it is worth the extra money because of the larger screen and battery life.

I'd say it's worth it. Along with the extra battery life and the fingerprint-proof shell, it also comes with a 4GB SD card instead of the 2GB with the regular 3DS.

I personally prefer the smaller systems. The XLs are just too big for me to enjoy playing with, but I guess if you want it...

The XL 3DS is much better. I have both and I prefer the bigger one. The buttons are nicer (home start and select are easier to use) and the big screen is better than the smaller one :3
the 3ds xl reserve his extra costs!

And don't forget, on the XL, they put the stylus in the right place. O_O

I also prefer the regular 3DS, 'cause of the better looking color, rather than solid color on then XL. But, as other people have said, the XL is better 'cause of the larger screen and longer battery life.

XL = Extra Large... means 3DS XL has a larger screen, 90% larger compared to a regular 3DS.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. :) I went with the XL since my eyesight's not the best and the bigger the screen the better.

I am the proud owner of a 3DS XL, and it is worth the money for the bigger screen--the closest thing to a big console you can get on a handheld.

    Here are the main differences

-The 3DS XL has a much larger screen
-The 3DS XL has double the battery life
-The 3DS XL has a different design
-The 3DS XL comes with a 4GB SD card instead of the 2 GB SD card that comes with the 3DS
-Some games look slightly worse on the 3DS XL because the games are stretched out. You can barely notice though

I'm glad you chose the XL! Personally I have used both and the XL very obviously was so much better.

Even though the screen is much larger than the original, it really just takes up more of the system's space-- the XL itself isn't that much bigger than the original, so it's not like it's a pain to lug around. It's really the perfect size. I carry mine in my purse and my boyfriend carries his in his pocket.

It seems almost like they screwed up a bunch of things on the original on purpose just so people would buy the original and then be forced to buy the XL, lol. I mean, they even moved the position of the stylus when it was just fine where it was before. Then ended up putting it back in the same spot with the XL. =P

Also as far as playing old games on the XL, you can hold down Start and Select while the game is loading to play in its original resolution. So that's nothing to worry about.

Personally, I would pick a regular 3ds since my hands are pretty tiny, and it's super compact compared to the XL. However, the XL does have a larger screen which is always a plus. ( I know this thread is a year old but just my opinion on the two versions).

Eh, I like the regular 3DS better, since even though the portability isn't that much of a difference, in my backpack and fake girl pockets it can be. >w< Not to mention i like that glossy blue better too.

It honestly depends on what size you want to go for. I honestly prefer bigger consoles. Even though I have small hands the 3DS XL works better and my hands feel more comfortable on the platform. On top of it I like playing games on a bigger screen then on a smaller screen so that's another bonus as well.
