    aka. the Secrets thread.

Over the years, we might of been so attached with certain video games, that we tend to explore or find stuff that we normally wouldn't find in games, or, things that have been vaguely hinted towards. In other words, secrets within the games. For example, in the original Legend of Zelda for the NES, there were a lot of secret staircases where you'd have to burn certain bushes, in order to find things like Heart Containers, or a high amount of Rupees. As vague as these secrets were, they were quite appealing to find, and once we found them, we might of been jumping for joy! (well, maybe not literally jumping for joy, but, it might of been a nice surprise!)

Now, as you might of found more and more secrets as these years go by, what were some of the most memorable secrets that you found within games? What was your primary reaction on finding these secrets? And yes, that includes any secrets from any games, including MMOs. Have you found any recent secrets lately, and would like to share some of them? Feel free to give your stories!

I'm learning more about this sort of stuff in Zelda. So many secrets and things you have to figure out which keeps the game interesting and fresh. I love learning about stuff I didn't know before, or finding something very useful that I had no idea existed. It really is a fantastic time.

I literally knew every single secret known in New Super Mario Bros. Some were incredibly vague, requiring a power-up found in the first world and a certain combination, each serving as a shortcut to a new world. A lot of them were super complicated, so I'm pretty proud of my 8 year old self, lol.

Going out of bounds and trying to find every secret or easter egg in a game is one of my favorite things! I used to do that a lot with Super Mario Sunshine, despite there being nothing extra to find aside from two of the secret Shine Sprites that I discovered on my own through random chance. Other free-range games like Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64, and even racers like Mario Kart (Peach's castle in the N64 version of Royal Raceway got me a lot) also tend to do this to me. Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story are the only games I have left to finish finding all of the extras for, and maybe some of my Legend of Zelda games.

I'm always surprised when I accidentally find these hidden exists in the new Super Mario Bros. games. It is something that I don't normally think about when playing through a level for the first time, so it's a nice surprise.

For me secrets that would surprise me the most would be accidental secrets, or secrets that involve the story. Halo is just a choke full of secrets, and Pokémon has its fair share of secrets too. I don't really remember my last accidental secret unfortunately, but I think my favorite secret are the Halo Terminals that not only show you some hidden lore, and facts, but give you some extra moolah in your Halo game :D

I really like secrets in games! They give the game a fresh feeling! And even better if the secret is a refrence to something, then it's even better!

Why did Super Mario come straight into my head after I read this?
I love their secret exits, and I don't think any other game can top how many hidden exits there were in that game.
