This is my first review! Today I was surprised by my mom with 4 tickets to the new Star Wars film. I have just saw it 30 minutes ago as I am typing this. There will be spoilers, so turn now if you don't want to be spoiled! So without further ado, Chewie, Buckle up, we are going light speed!

Let's start with the opening, same old formula for any Star Wars film."Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away", check. Sliding yellow text from bottom to top, check. Same George Lucas theme playing in the background, check. Yep, that's a Star Wars opening for you. Now let's dive in to the opening scene. We start in a village on Jakku with a new guy pilot named Poe (YES THAT IS HIS NAME!) talking over plans to "Find Skywalker" which is their objective for the whole movie. He has the drive for the map and gives it to a new droid called BB-8, much like the first film with Leia and R2-D2. The "First Order" is the new "Sith group" and they attack the village and murder everyone. We are introduced with the new "Darth Vader like character named Kylo Ren. This guy, is a badass. With a wicked looking lightsaber and force powers that rival Palpitine's. He is easilly now one of my favorite Star Wars characters. Fast forward through some plot and we get introduced to another new character, a traitorous Stormtrooper to be infact, with the code name FN-2187, who will later be called Finn. Now adding new characters to a franchise is risky, but let's hope that this guy won't die. Once more we meet the new Jedi, and hey, it's a female! Her name is Rey. Fast forwarsd a bit more and we find the Millennium Falcon! Rey, BB-8 and Finn all get on the Falcon and fly off of Jakku. Then, a tractor beam stops them from moving and looky here! It's our favorite duo, Han Solo and Chewbacca! Back with witty comments and apparently Rengars, Solo's back to kick some ass! Right? So we fly to the first Jedi Temple where we learn that Rey can use the Force by finding Luke's old Lightsaber. An airstrike happens and the Resistance comes to fight off the First Order. A transfer ship comes on the planet and C-3PO and Princess Leia who is apparently General Organa for some reason pop out. It's like a 1978 reunion! We just need 2 more characters that aren't dead. BB-8 screws around at the Resistance base and finds R2-D2. C-3PO says he is not like himself since Luke has gone away. Poor thing. So the plan is set! Prevent the First Front from using there super sun powered laser death cannon and blow up the planet! That seems familiar. So Han, Chewie and Finn, infiltrate the base and Han has a confrontation with Kylo Ren who is apparently, HIS SON! The most unpredictable thing happens next. HE KILLS SOLO! Yup, Han Solo is dead, and Chewbacca is PISSED! Chewie goes on a Stormtrooper killing spree while Rey and Finn fight Kylo Ren in the snowy woods. Finn puts up a good fight but, Kylo kills him. Yup, one of the new guys is dead. They end up having one of the best lightsaber duels since Anakin Vs Obi-Wan and Rey ends up winning but, the planet splits, preventing Rey from delivering the killing blow. R2-D2 actually wakes up and he and BB-8 complete the map, allowing Rey and Chewie to find Luke who is seen at the end of the film.
That is my quick rundown of the new movie. My thoughts? I liked it. It's not perfect but, if you are a Star Wars fan, you will enjoy it most definitely. Stormtroopers actually kill people and the new Sith is a badass.

I literally just watched this movie 30 minutes ago and checked to see if anyone has posted about this on LV. Even though I'm not a big Star Wars fan and this was my first movie, I'm still intrigued about the story. I have some disagreements with your statement though I'm not sure they're correct. First of, in the movie, it said that Luke was looking for the first Jedi temple. Rey and crew did not go there. They went to Maz Kanata's (is that her name?) to find a way to get BB-8 to the resistance, that wasn't the first Jedi temple. Second, Finn isn't dead. After Kylo and Rey's battle, they went back to the planet where the Resistance were and you can see the medical people attending to Finn.

I think a big part you left out is the Rey got captured during the confrontation between the First Order and the Resistance where Kylo interrogated Rey to get the map and failed because of her Jedi power. Also, I don't think Han Solo's death was that big of a surprised since in the first conversation we saw with Snoke and Kylo, Snoke revealed to Kylo that Rey and crew was accompanied by Han Solo, Kylo says that he isn't affected and will do what is necessary. And tbh I didn't think Kylo Ren looked that intimidating.

That ending scene tho... It felt a little too forced (pun intended). But otherwise it was good and Kylo Ren fits his fan nickname of "Darth Emo"

That first scene with the falcon also, it was one of the best because it had that element of realism.
