She opened her backpack , took out an umbrella, with a flumph (i miss your shit posting flumph, please come back ) ) showing the floral pattern underneath, and picked up the pet carrier venturing off into the white. The storm made her hair freeze to her coat, but she continued to walk until she arrived at a small bus station to take shelter in. She ran under and took a seat. She lifted the carrier to look into Esulda's cage, the black tabby seemed to be in a corner, with a loose blanket wrapped around it. with a low humming purr, Lynn lowered the cage and sighed. Reaching into her bag she took her journal out, and flips through page after page until she found the page she'd been lookin for In a chicken scratch "6572 Grove Street" Closing her journal, she places it back in her bag, and continues to venture through the harsh snow, until after around 5 minutes. she arrived, at 6572 Grove Street. Reaching her hand forward to the door , she places her hand on the handle. . . and turns . . . and the door doesn't open. She looks down, No snow, no ice. then it hit her. Lynn smacked her forehead and took out her key and unlocked the door. She sighed, reacher hand out again, and turned the handle...
Douglas 'Maybe I should have checked the weather channel...' These thoughts filled Douglas' head as he stared at the flurry of snow falling down all around him. He just wanted to go out for a little jog and maybe pick up some snacks and wasn't at all prepared for the storm. He shivered. He should have worn the thicker coat. Oh well, no waste regretting about the past. At least he hadn't been too far from his dorms when the snow hit. Silver linings and all that. He ran back to the campus walls, following his own boot prints back to the dormitories. He flashed his ID and a little smile at the security guard before heading off. As soon as he entered the dorm he sighed in relief. The dorm wasnt the best but it was much warmer than the snow outside. He shrugged off his jacket, cringing at the snow that fell off of it. He'll clean that up later. Douglas sighed as he prepared a cup of hot coffee and opened up his laptop. He wasn't planning on it but it looks like it would be a lazy day today. --- Eleanor The sound of soft classical music filled the empty room, alongside the sounds of tootls tinkling and shuffling footsteps. The sweet smell of cocoa powder filled the air as it fell from the sifter and into the bowl. Eleanor smiled to herself as she grabbed her other ingredients. She had been nervous for the school year, she'd never been on her own for long periods of time before. Thankfully the house she moved into had a nice kitchen in it so she was able to take her mind off things while baking. She looked up to observe the heavy snow outside. Thank goodness she came here yesterday. She was unaccoustumed to the cold and had no idea how shed cope moving in through the storm. She mixed her batter til it was nice and smooth, then began pouring it into her liners. She popped them into the preheated oven and dusted her hands. She was basically done now, all she had to do was wait for it to bake. As she hung her apron and moved to clean the counter, she wondered what the new schook year would be like for her. She hoped she'd be able to graduate without too much trouble. But something told her this year might be more interesting than shed think.
Another snow day - and today was even crazier at that. Maybe someday I'll actually get to go outside and talk to people outside the dorms again. Reyna huffed lightly as she closed the curtains again. At least she'd grown accustomed to this weather over the last few weeks - not to mention the several years in a neighboring town. Well, nothing to it, she just had to go make herself breakfast, then get some semester review, digitally talk to people, look more into recording audio... well, to summarize, more of daily life. She pulled on a slightly lighter jacket and headed for the kitchen, hoping the heating was enough to justify not taking a heavier overcoat.
A snowstorm now, of all days… Kazui sighed, slouching as he watched the snow fall under the bus stop he momentarily took shelter in. Another person was sitting beside him, writing something into her journal, but he ignored the girl and gazed at the sky boredly. Yeah no, thank you, damned school for makin' us arrive in the middle of a blizzard! Noticing that his momentary companion has already left, Kazui decided that he should get going as well. Standing up and stretching, the auburn-haired student pulled his jacket tighter, grabbing his luggage before heading out towards… wherever the dorms are.
Amelia gazed outside at the snow. Unlike many other people, she actually quite enjoyed it. She always preferred the northern cold over the intense southern heat where her mother was raised. The summers here were just gorgeous and not too hot, and the winters, while occasionally brutal and unforgiving, gave everything a beautiful white cover. She remembered cold winter days spent shoveling people's driveways with her brother André for money. Thinking about her family got her a little homesick and she turned away from the window, instead looking at her dorm. It was small, only three distinct rooms, but it was cozy and perfect for one person. Leaving home and her old school was hard, but this was too good of an opportunity to pass up. And it's not like she was completely separated from hee friends and family. They were only about two towns away. At most the train ride would be maybe 2 hours on a busy day. Tearing her mind away from that, she went to the kitchen and to make some hot chocolate. Her mother was always a great cook and had taught her many interesting recipes. She decided once her warm winter drink was made she would get to unpacking. Even though she hadn't brought much with her, she did have yet to clear out her suitcase.
Lynn turned the handle, and pushed forward, with a hesitation from the door and an eldritch scream of the hinges. "Either this area hasn't been opened in a long time, or i'm about to be murdered." Lynn muttered to herself. She looked at the wall and saw a small little square. She touched it and the lights slowly dimmed on. A warm yellow light fills the room , "Fancy." Lynn commented, she placed her bag on the ground, and closed the door. She looked around the small entryway, it wasn't much, a little step to place her shoes on, the walls were painted an ugly shade of eggshell white and seemed to be peeling and bleeding. She scoffed and took off her shoes and let Esulda loose out of the cage, the cat meowed as it looked around. Lynn made her way just two steps forward and was greeted to the living room. It was spacious , but something quickly caught her attention. The coffee table that sat in the middle of the room was scattered with cigarette burns, "Well I can see why the walls look like this.." She looked around a bit and found an empty beer bottle that had a group of ants living in it. "This place. . . really needs a makeover" She walked away from the living room . "Not even a couch . . . just a table. and a chair that i'm pretty sure someone threw up on..." She opened a few other doors , a Bathroom, an empty room , and the kitchen "Why does the kitchen have a door??" Lynn questioned to herself as she walked down a slim hallway , she opened another door and found a small room. A bunk bed sat in the corner next to a small window. A wardrobe that was splitting and cracking tucked away in the dark, "movers will be here tomorrow, if the snow doesn't mess with them . . I'll have them move this. But, I can work with this tonight . . " She walked over to the bed, and sat down. It was stiff and felt like sandpaper, she stood up almost instantly, her eyes were already starting to sag from the trip ,and the cold wasn't doin much better. She took off her coat, touched the top bunk, it showed to have not been used and she climbed up and laid down. Esulda meowing at the bottom of the ladder. Eventually the cat climbed up and flopped right next to Lynn. And Lynn dozed off.
Douglas Douglas sat snuggled on his bed, a warm blanket enveloping him as he sat to watch his waiting list of movies. He sipped at his cup of coffee as his mind began to wander, ignoring the probably important exposition playing out before him. He wondered how all the vacationing students were doing. Usually, the dorms would be the hub of activity and life at the school. But with the winter break, most of his fellow dormers took the time off to leave and see family again. He wished he could stop by and say hello to his parents. His house was quite far away and it would take quite a trip to get there on his student budget. And with how busy his parents seemed to be with their work, he didn't think it would be worth making the trip. He snapped out of his musing thoughts as the sound of fighting came from the screen. He turned his attention back to the movie where the main characters seemed to be fighting a hoard of bad guys. He shook his head. Now was not the time to be all dreary. The other dormers would be back soon and he would be able to video chat with his parents later. There was nothing to be sad about. For now, he's gotta catch up with the movie's plot. --- Eleanor Ellie laughed as she took in the sight. She must have been more stressed than she thought! She always loved baking while stressed to help calm her nerves, but somehow she'd gotten so carried away she didn't even notice how much she made. There were dozens of cupcakes lining the rent home's kitchen table, all cute and perfect in their liners. There were a few flavors in there, some vanilla, some chocolate, and some both. While they all looked delicious, she would never be able to finish them all off! She was trying to cut down on her sweets and now she made enough for a small bakery. Maybe she could hand some out to some people she met on Campus? She wanted to make a good impression on people and that seemed like a way to do it. She packed the cupcakes out into the little Tupperware she had, placing them in the fridge to store them. Hm... It was still snowing outside. Maybe she should read a book or something. She had been meaning on starting up that new romance novel she got.
Kazui quickened his pace, close to running as the snow began to fall heavier. Of all the fuckin'- The redhead jumped, nearly tripping on a stray tree root as he continued on his brisk pace. Invitation for my face to the ground aside, where's the bloody campus? he thought, observing his surroundings to try and confirm his location. Okay, that sign says Coral Street, since I'm walkin' along Grove Street from the station, that means the campus should be… there! Quickly Kazui sped past the gate of the school and dived towards the first open building, which to his luck happened to be one of the dormitories. "Next time, I should bring a snowplow or something…" he muttered, shaking off the snow that stuck to his hair. "Now for the million dollar question: Is this the right dorm?"
Hot chocolate made and and in hand, Amelia went to her room to start putting her clothes in the dresser. She had a lot, due to this being her full-time living space for the next year at least. A suitcase sat on her dresser, with another on the floor next to it, both filled mainly with clothes. She had a backpack out on the couch in the living room too, which held all the miscellaneous stuff she couldn't shove into one of the suitcases. She put her mug of hot chocolate down on the dresser and began moving her clothes into their properly designated places. Having arrived the night before, she already had her clothes from yesterday laying on the floor next to the bed rather messily. Having gotten in late due to several delays in the trip, she was very tired and very hungry, and when she got home she just heated up a cup of instant ramen (of which she had many of stashed in her backpack), went to the bathroom, and crashed in bed. Since it was still winter break, she had some time to just get used to her new living arrangement. She promised to be back home for Christmas, but they gave her plenty of time. It was only the 4th today. After clearing one suitcase she moved it to the corner and put the second one in the first's place on the dresser. Her mind started drifting to the people here. She didn't know anyone, but she never really had a problem making friends. Though she wasn't quite ready to date yet. She had only recently gone through a pretty bad breakup, and wanted to just be on her own for a while. The second suitcase empty, she moved it next to the first one. She decided to go take a walk around the building so she could get acquainted with where everything was. So she put on her boots, jacket, and gloves and headed out. Being on the first floor, it was east for her to get to the lobby.
The toast she'd made disappeared fast, and her coffee even faster. Once the dishes were done and set to one side to dry, Reyna hurried back to her room - no, the heating on its own was not enough to protect from the cold just yet - and flung on an extra blouse and light jacket before turning on her computer. First, emails to the family, then... As the list began in her head, she completed each task. Notes on her work, time to attempt composition, checking to see if her friends from her old school were up... well, they weren't, so that was out the window. Her rather lax schedule set for the day, Reyna opened up her email, typed in her sister's address, and began typing away.
As Lynn laid in a doze, Esulda purring a storm, making the bed rattle lightly. Time passed, and the day kept passing, before being rudely woken up by a loud "POWP" She jolted up flinging Esulda who had been laying on her chest across the room, the cat rolls and hisses and runs out of the room. Lynn looked around the room, and as she was looking around she started to hear it, kids laughing. She got off the bunk bed (slowly), walked to the window, and yet another "FLUMHP" as a snowball smacks right into her window. The snow stuck to her window and Lynn leaned around the snowball to see a group of three kids gathered making snowballs and throwing it at her apartment. They were a younger group of kids, so she didn't take too much consideration. Her heart was still racing from the event and leaned to the wall and caught her breath. She sat there for a few minutes before standing up, she looked around for Esulda, and found them hiding in the rafters of the kitchen. She sighed and giggled a bit and grabbed Esulda off the Rafter and placed her on the ground. "Sorry, Kitty. Don't got any food around today..." She said those words to herself in her head. "Geh, I don't have any food either .. ." At the thought of food her stomach rumbled. *sorry for delay. had to scrap a few ideas, cause they seemed rushed*
As it turns out Kazui didn't enter the correct dorm, considering that this one has keycards instead of the normal key. "Yes, no discrimination at all," the teen muttered, listening to the rotors of the ceiling fan spin quickly as he traversed the tiled floors of the sleek, well-lit hallway. Eventually his eyes landed on a bulletin board a few doors ahead with a map pinned to it. Bingo! he thought triumphantly and quickened his pace, now in front of the board. Checking out the area plan Kazui realised he was fortunately only a few blocks away from his own residence… and that he was in the teachers' dorm. "Blimey."
After about half an hour of exploring, Amelia found herself sitting in the lobby, absentmindedly cruising through the school's website. She wanted to start making friends, and was looking at the various clubs there were. Unfortunately, she wasn't really that interested in many of them. "Anime club? I don't really watch anime that much. Comic book club? I don't think I've ever beem within a mile of a comic book. Chess club? Too boring. Ohhh there's a baking club? I'll mark that as a maybe." With the very mention of anything food-related, her stomach growled in response. She hadn't eaten anything today except some toast for breakfast and a cup of hot chocolate, if you can even count that. Not having much to cook with in her dorm, she decided search for nearby takeout restaurants. After a bit of debate, she settled on a pasta place only about ten minutes away, and headed back out.
(oops made an error in my last post fixed it) Once each email was sent, and a dubstep remix pulled up at a surprisingly low volume, Reyna opened up a few digital textbooks. Mathematics had always been her worst subject, even in one of the lighter courses, and she'd have to pick up the slack if she wanted to keep her grades high. Flipping a notebook open on one side and lining up a small group of pens on the other, she turned to her screen and began writing equation rules. Derivatives... ugh, derivatives. Well, the study session was off to a "great" start, and the timer wasn't showing any sign of budging soon. C'mon Reyna, it'll be over before you know it...
(sup nerds) Lynn looked out the window to see the snow had came to a stalemate, there was a flake here and there, but it was calmed down. Throwing her jacket over her shoulders, and putting on her big boots. She petted Esulda and walked out, the crunch of the snow broke her out of her day dream of food. "I uh.. . don't know where the nearest store is . . " She thought to herself and pulled out her phone , '4%' Lynn stared blankely at the phone screen, '3%" *click* "Looks like i'm exploring today!" She walked around in a daze, looking at houses, she eventually found a small poster showing a map, She was around thirty houses away from her home, and around 50 away from the nearest store. She sighed and felt the weather get colder, and the snow starting to pick up again
