255 Days is a comic I'm currently working on. The entire comic is a pixel-based project, designed to be entirely black and white (literally, that's it: no greys or anything). At this current time, it's not exactly close to completion, right now there are still a whole load of characters that need to be designed, as well as environments, and even the story needs a lot of work. However, I can provide a general idea of the backstory:
Some time in the distant future, humanity comes to the realization of the fact that humanity is overfilling planet Earth. More and more people are lacking homes, and the planet as a whole needs many people moved off it. Thus, humanity devises the plan to move to a newly spotted planet, deemed Neo-Terra. The planet itself is similar in condition to Earth: a little terraforming, and the planet could become hospitable. It was decided: over a third of humanity would be moved to this new planet to set up a new human civilization. After a year of traveling through space, and a few months terraforming, mankind finally lands on Neo-Terra.

However, straight from the outset mankind was attacked by a man-made cyber-organic virus known by most as Brainrot. This virus would consume the human psyche, and turn them into a puppet for one man. 50 years raged on, during which those who were immune to the virus fought valiantly. Eventually, one boy managed to defeat this virus, as well as the one who was controlling it, and for a short while humanity was free from terror.

But, it wasn't to last, as is too often the case with humanity: a man named Marsk soon started an attack on humanity in the form of locking them away in a computer system, where their memory of being removed from reality was erased as though nothing had changed. Now, Marsk could control humanity through something that resembled a life simulation game, and for a while nobody knew. Eventually, though, one man named Tau escaped, and after a short while of gathering information, Tau picked out 4 people; Crimms, Laven, Aryli and Turq. And now, the fight against Marsk and his Elite Soldiers begins.
Right now, that's the general jist of the story, and will be built upon at a later date. Right now, you can see the current character designs on my Deviant Art page: http://officialredg.deviantart.com/

The comic is named "255 Days" due to the idea that once you know that you're locked in a system, you have 255 days to escape. Each issue will have a number showing how many days the characters have left before they can escape, to give readers an idea of their position in the story.

Suggestions and constructive criticism is always appreciated as I work on this! I'll try to make sure to keep this updated with posts about the comics progress and new additions etc. I might even throw in some comic sneak-peaks of the actual pages!

255... the highest number recognizable in 8-bit computing. That makes a good amount of sense, considering the computer-based nature of the story conflict and the art style. Kudos to you on those fronts. I'm also very in favor of also using that feature as a chronological marker to give a sense of sequence and something relating to a doomsday counter. A growing sense of urgency, all that stuff. More kudos to you.

One more thing, I really do like your art style, especially if you eventually do a thing that I hope you do but I won't say what it is because I want it to be your original idea if you do do it. One criticism though, the high-contrast just black and white thing miiight be headache inducing for long reading sessions. I for one will be wearing sunglasses whilst reading this on my computer if I go more than a few pages at a time, though other people may not mind so much. Maybe consider using a very limited color pallet? I'm thinking how early game systems (especially the Gameboy Color) only showed like four colors on screen at a time (plus black and white) and only could display maybe 16 colors total. With something like that you could still convey the sense of this-is-all-in-a-computer while also breaking the monotony of only using 000000 and FFFFFF. Just an idea. You're the visionary though, so I'm sure your more complete idea will come to the best conclusion.

Mucho thankk! Actually, I had planned to sort of recolor the comic once I had it released (originally it was gonna be a full color remake, but I like your idea of midtones enough to use that too!) so don't worry if you're having trouble there! I might even release the midtone version alongside the original for the benefit of readers like yourself.

I appreciate the compliments and criticisms, they let me know what I'm doing right and what needs work, so thanks very much! :D

This looks really interesting, and I'd love to check it out when you're finished! (or sooner, lol)
I would love to help you design some characters, but I can only do 50x50 headshots, plus: I don't think I could pixel humans.
However, if I come up with something good, I'll let you know :)

Thanks so much! Actually, your character doesn't exactly need to be human, they could be lizardman, draconic, robotic, whatever suits! The help is appreciated too, so if you do come up with an idea let me know! Just don't go forcing yourself, you won't disappoint me either way. But I'm glad you back up the idea!
