About Age and Partners

Since I'm 25, the lowest I'd even consider would be 21. I absolutely do not like kids, so a 'girl' at 17 doesn't interest me. Never personally got why guys my age would want a girl so young (Okay I do, but come on, she's still a kid.). If my girlfriend and I ever broke up and I was looking for someone, 21 would be the youngest I'd accept. Maybe 20 if they are mature enough. I wouldn't mind an older person, but not too much older. 27 would be my cut-off date. Maybe 28. It really depends on how much of a connection we have.

 

I always thought I wouldn't really mind dating a guy as long as he matched my age, or was older, as long as he was between 15-19. Then an actual 19 year old tried to hit on me, and I realized that, until I turn 18, I don't want to date boys who are 18 or older. 17 at the oldest, 15 at the youngest.

 

For now, since I'm a teen, 2 years is the absolute max... I try to stay within one year, though. However, when I'm in my 20s, it'll prob be like 5 years max.

 

I feel like age is definitely an important factor, and since I'm still in my teens, I try not to stray from the 1-3 years. It sounds dumb, but I'd rather date someone my own age than a person whose either really young, or really old.
Now for the women dating younger men, I think it's perfectly fine as long as each partner is happy. There really is no way to lose maturity unless the man is somewhat underaged. I really don't like the term of "cougar" when women date younger men while men who date younger women don't get a nickname at all. There's a double standard there, and I really don't appreciate it.

 

I'm 25, I won't date anyone lower than 23 thus. I want people closer to my age since then our lives and interests would be similar.
For older, I cut it off at 30.

 

Personally, I wouldn't consider anyone that's more than 2 years younger than me, or more than 4 years older. I've usually dated people older than I am since I find that older people are more intellectually challenging and are more willing to make me question things, all the while maintaining a level of maturity. My girlfriend is, in fact, older than I am.

 

I can't date guys too much older or younger than me. As someone who is 24, a 27 year-old is probably as old as it'll go and most definitely no one younger than 19-20. Not solely because it's strange but also because we tend to be in such different phases in our lives even with a four or five year difference so situations can get too complex. My current boyfriend is younger than me by six months and I'm happy with that. Otherwise I'm hardly bothered by who other people date since I do keep my preferences in the back of my head and try not to judge.. you are who you are and I am who I am.

 

Ideally, it would be no more than three years younger than me, or no more than 5 years older than me. Anyone below the age of 20 to me would have a much higher likelihood of not being mature enough for my liking. Anyone above age 28 would be a bit of a generational problem. We could still have lots in common, and get along great, but there will always be that awkward generation barrier. I have nothing against people who have far apart relationships age-wise. It's your right to choose in the end. This is just my own opinion and view on it.

 

Even though I'm not actively looking or hoping for a partner, two years younger or older has always been my personal limit. I wouldn't have any interest in someone who was 20, or really even 19 at my current age, and 13 would depend completely on how mature the other person was. Anyone below that is a definite no-go, though, since I normally treat anyone younger than me as more of a younger sibling than somebody I'd have a romantic interest in. If I were in my 20's already, though, my limits would probably stretch a little farther in both directions.

 

Considering I recently turned 18, I honestly wouldn't mind dating anyone as old as 22-24 years old. But in reality, most girls my age are very... very behind mentally if you compare their mindset with mine. I feel like someone a couple years older than me would fit me better than someone my age.
But of course, if I were to find someone around my age, a year younger or older, with a similar mindset or state of mentality, that'd be close to perfect for me.

Although being 18 now I don't think I could date anyone younger than 17, 16 in some rare cases.
If I were still 17, I wouldn't mind dating someone as young as 15.

But as I always say... age is but a number.

 

In my relationship history, I've dated older, but no more than two years older than me. But I guess I'd date someone a year younger than me, or two years older. Maturity is a big thing for me, and well, everyone knows how some high school guys can act at times. Dx

 

I always was really strict with age limits no more than two years of age difference on way or another now that I'm 22, almost 23, I've realized that older is fine to a point like I might date someone who was 28 it would really depend on other factors of attration. Younger by more than two years is still not a thing. I had a crush on a guy at work until I found out he was 19 and was just so shocked and grossed out. Still closer to my age is better in my opinion.

As far as other people dating I have only a few thoughts outside of maturity. I will say my cousin dated a an older woman for awhile in college and he said it was terrible. The truth is its less about age and often more about being at the same stage in your life. She was in a different place and thats why it didn't work out.

 

I always preferred to date older guys as I always believed them to me more mature, however that's been proven to be a flat-out lie with each one I've dated. I had the same hobbies and interests as all of them but they all had the maturity of a toddler e.e I have only dated one guy that was younger than me (by around 6 months if I remember correctly) and he was honestly the most sensible and sweet dude I've ever come across, both platonically and romantically.
Like Lilly said above, I guess it depends what stage you're at in life.

 

Age is kind of weird when it comes to relationships, I have no idea what my opinion is around it all. I turned 18 this year and I'm still finding it strange when guys in their 20s approach me;;; A year younger and it would've been unheard of haha
I don't really see it as an overly important factor but obviously having too large of a gap would have both partners in vastly different situations so that probably wouldn't work out. Personally I'd rather stick to people a year or two older/younger, if not the same age. I might end up changing my mind, who knows
