Hello Pokémon lovers! A quick point here: What if you can accessorize Pokémon in future games, and they'd appear in battle holding or wearing their accessories?

This idea might sound a little far-fetched, but think: Pokémon might hold items such as White Herbs or berries or even Mega stones. In Pokémon reality, Pokémon need their hands to battle and holding items could be a distraction. What if you could give your Pokémon accessories to assist them in holding items?

Off course, this suggestion is optional, so maybe an option to show these accessories in battle or not. In terms of accessories, some people love to dress up Pokémon and keep the arrangements in battle, like a scarf or a hat or a necklace. I mean, if Ash's Krookodile liked to wear sunglasses, then why can't Pokémon in games?

There are endless possibilities, such as an apron to hold a berry, or wearing items such as the Focus Band or the Focus Sash as a belt. Perhaps a White Herb bracelet?

This idea sounds like a wonderful inclusion to future Pokémon games, but perhaps there are drawbacks? What do you think?

I've secretly been wanting this for a long time. Back when I first got a Blackglasses, I hurriedly made my Pokémon hold it, expecting them to come into battle wearing shades. I really hope the game creators start including more customization options in their future games such as this.

This is EXACTLY what Pokémon needs. I really loved the Cosplay Pikachu in ORAS, but I wish they'd take it further. I mean, I was so confused as to where Pokémon put their Mega Stone when they hold it, but when you see the awesome arm braces, crowns and neck plates they wear, all I can think of is "I want that!!"

But even regular items, some need a bit of explaining. I can imagine some of the more animalistic Pokémon hiding their items in their fur or hair, but what about Pokémon like Electrode, Progyon-Z or the Pokémon lord himself Arceus Magikarp? Where are they supposed to put their items? I say we need visible item holders in game, who's with me!?

While accessories and item holders would be a fun way personalize your Pokémon, but it should be limited to in-game battles and to challenges as optimal feature, at least if they show your Pokémon's held item(s) to your opponent, even when it hasn't been revealed by frisk or by any other method. Obviously, if the held items are not shown to your opponent or are completely unwearable by Pokémon, there wouldn't be need to limit it to in-game and challenges, since it's only an aesthetic change then.

I love the idea, but of the course the first thing that comes to mind is that there about 721 Pokémon, and animating accessories for all of those Pokémon would be quite the job, and one that I'm sure GF wouldn't want to do. Perhaps they could do something where only certain Pokémon had accessories, so then it could work.

Anyways, if I were able to accessorize my Pokémon, I would go online and use my Magikarp, Feebas, Sunkern, Unown, Silcoon, and Cascoon and put sunglasses on all of them while I absolutely obliterate my opponents in every way.

I'm just kidding, but I think if the accessories were done right, then they could be not just cool, but super cool. Also, I'm the kind of guy who already loves feeding Pokepuffs to his Giratina... so I'd probably abuse this feature just a little bit. I think I'd love to see an ice cream cone wearing a scarf.

EDIT: oh right my opinion. I agree with what's been said, it would be a programming nightmare, but it would be amazing if they could do it. Even if the accessories did nothing in battle but look cool, they'd still look cool.

It probably won't happen because it'll take so much time to program every single Pokémon to carry every item, like others said. But still, I'd love to see a Garchomp wearing an actual Rocky Helmet, a Keldeo wearing a fabulous pair of Choice Specs or a Heatran floating derpily on an Air Balloon. There's a chance they'll make it possible for Pokémon to wear some other non item accessorizes in future games though, like if they expanded more on Contests or something like that. Character customization was already implemented last Generation, so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw something similar happening with Pokémon instead in Gen 7.

I actually think this would be somewhat easy to do. For an example, let's look at Super Smash bros: there are a few dozen fighters and a few dozen items, and they pretty much automated the process by breaking down items into categories and just saying "every item of category 1, attach to the animation skeleton at this point and move like this, every item of category 2, do it here instead," etc. Each of these characters can hold a gun-like object, a sword/bat-like object, can have a Franklin badge or Screw Attack attached to his chest, a jetpack on his back, a tanuki ear-tail pair on his body, all that.

That said, they would just have to put a reference point on each Pokémon. Eyewear items (Black Glasses, Wise Glasses, Choice Specs) attach here on each individual poke, neck items (choice scarf, silk scarf, colored scarves) go here, handheld items (twistedspoon, charcoal, life orb, chainsaw) all go here. Of course, they would have to do that ~730 or so times (for some forme changes, even higher for megas), or do an Amity-Square limitation where only some Pokémon can take advantage of this extra feature.

tl;dr: it would be less difficult than it may seem, and I would like it, but I doubt it'll get full implementation in its first appearance.
