Gen 2 Achromatic's Pokémon Silver Nuzlocke

Achromatic's Pokémon Silver Nuzlocke
Silver just re-released on the 3DS eShop and I have never played Silver version before (grew up with Gold) so it is TIME for me to Nuzlocke this amazing game. I plan to see it through to the end. Let's do this.

RULES:
- If a Pokémon faints, it's considered dead and MUST be boxed, never to be used again.
- Can only capture the first Pokémon per area. If I fail to catch it, no Pokémon for me.
- If the first Pokémon I find is a duplicate of one I already have, it won't be counted as my first encounter.
- Each Pokémon must be nicknamed.
- Healing items are allowed.
- If I find a shiny, I can catch it no matter what. Though this never happens.
- Battle Style set to Set.
- EXP Share Off
- If all Pokémon faint, it's game over. If I have backups in the box however, I can put them in my team to use until all backups are gone.

Starting the Game
Starting things off, naturally I name myself BEN get started on my grand adventure. It has been a long, long time since I've played these games... blimey. This music takes me back to being a little kid. It's so retro it's beautiful.

I always hated how when you tell your mother that you DO know how to use the phone, she tells you how to use it anyways. Gee, thanks mother. :\

Now, I always choose Totodile. Every time I play a Johto game, Totodile is my starter. So, to mix things up a little, I'm gonna choose...

TOTODILE DUH. Welcome to the team, CHOMPS. I wonder what nature it is... oh, wait. I also like how eager Prof. Elm is to give you out his number. Chill dude, at least buy me a drink first.

Remember how these guys held berries? Wasn't that cool? They didn't do that in HG/SS, that's for sure. Time to make our way to Mr. Pokémon. I won't be able to catch anything yet so aside from death, the Nuzlocke hasn't truly started until I get PokéBalls. CHOMPS is doing some nice levelling up though which is great.

The sprites in this game are ICONIC btw. I love them dearly.

Fighting my Rival, Silver
Anyone else name him ??? as a kid? Good times. He may be rude af but I'm gonna knock him down a peg or two! Let's go. He has the worst starter anyways so I'm definitely gonna beat him down. It was a 2 hit kill after doing some leering. Heck ya. GG Silver.

I think me and CHOMPS are gonna have a great adventure ahead of ourselves.

ROUTE 29
Time to catch my first wild Pokémon! What will we find? It's... Hoothoot! Ok, i'm cool with this. Hoothoot it is. In honour of many fallen birds, I shall name it BIRB. The bird hero we all need. Welcome to the team, BIRB buddy! I really don't want a rat, btw.

ROUTE 46
...okay I just found a DUMB RAT. Ugh. I don't want it. I don't wanna train it either. Maybe i'll just let it be fodder because this thing is a waste of time. :'( Named it TRASH.

I've still gotta train Hoothoot, one I'm adamant about keeping on my team.

ROUTE 30
Next route I'm finding it hard to encounter something new. It's nighttime here so it's a bit harder to find brand new mons...

Okay so I've discovered it's physically not possible to find anything else here at night. Greaaaaat! Okay, we'll move on then. But having less Pokémon kinda sucks... I hope things will be ok.

ROUTE 31
Apparently I can't find anything new here either. Greaaat. <_< I guess I'll check out the DARK CAVE and find you-know-what. Please welcome ACHROBATIC to the team!

SPROUT TOWER
We're back, and it's time to find us a new Pokémon... if we even can. :') Things have been a bit sparse.

Finally, something new it's Gastly! I shall name it SPOOP. I made my way through Sprout Tower and after some close encounters, I beat Sage Li! Now it's time for the gym...

UNFORTUNATELY TRASH the RAT did die, so it's going straight in my death box. RIP.

VS. FALKNER
So I've gotta admit... that was almost too easy. I'm glad it went by quickly though, first badge has been received!

I've now got an egg too which I plan to hatch and use on my team! Hype.

ROUTE 32
First Pokémon is Ekans. Heck ya. I'm pretty glad about this as I've never really used this guy before, welcome the team - SNEK!

It's now time to go on a bit of grinding before the cave. There are a LOT of trainers here. Time to fight 'em!

UNION CAVE
So I got into Union Cave and WTF? A RAT was there??? It instantly killed my Ekans. GDI.

I managed to find and catch a Geodude at least which will be IMMENSELY helpful again. Unfortunately ACHROBATIC did die. I am so sorry ACHROBATIC, you will live on in our memories...!

ROUTE 33
I managed to find a cute little Spearow here, so that's cool. It's probably going in the box for now but I'm glad I found it either way! Decided to name it PECKER.

Enough for now, more later.

 

SLOWPOKE WELL
It's time to return for some catching action. This time I'm aiming to get myself a Slowpoke, since I believe it's the only other one that can be found aside from Zubat (and I've already caught one) so I should be able to get one! It'll definitely be a very useful addition to my team. I am excited.

Finally, I've found SLOWPOKE. The sprite for this guy looks like some mangled meat tossed onto the floor.



UNFORTUNATELY smart 'ol me accidentally killed it with a crit Water Gun... that is just... brilliant. Thank you game. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Today we mourn the lost of a mangled pile of meat. It shall be missed greatly.

WOW. OKAY. Disaster is clearly afoot in this cave as my beautiful BIRB was just killed by a filthy Rat. Rats are my enemy this run. First of all... how dare you? Secondly...??? How DARE you?! Looks like I'll have to train up PECKER the Spearow.

I'm also doing a lot of grinding with PEBBLE because I need it so bad for Whitney. If I don't train this guy Whitney will KO me for sure.

AZALEA CITY
After a few close run-ins with Team Rocket, it's finally time to take on our next gym. I'm not hugely confident about this one... :') But we'll give it out best try, of course!

Well, thanks to the help of PECKER and PEBBLE, I managed to win with no deaths whatsoever! Funny how Rats can kill more of my team than the Gym Leaders can... ugh. Oh well! A victory is a victory, so I'm pretty happy that I won. This is fantastic for Pebble too who I crucially NEED to have a chance against Whitney. I'm pretty confident now.

I'm down two team members unfortunately so things will be a little tricky against Silver... still, I'm pretty confident I can crush him. LET'S GO.

Unfortunately Gastly managed to kill my PECKER a premature death. Now we must face Bayleef with PEBBLE and CHOMPER... I am not at all thrilled about this.

NOOOOOOO. Razor Leaf 1 hit killed my PEBBLE. Things were looking so good too. ;_; My big shot against Whitney is now dead... can CHOMPS even beat this guy? ;_; He's way too strong.

Ya... it's over. Unfortunately due to playing at night + unfortunate losses I just don't have enough Pokémon to stop this guy, nor enough potions to stall him. OH WELL. The Nuzlocke was incredibly short lived (surprise surprise) but it was fun. I'm not too upset because now I can play with whatever team I like! So, thanks for reading folks and remember - once you lose ACHROBATIC it all goes downhill. It's science. ;]
