In most video games (notice that I said most), there is at least one character who demonstrates a lot of amazing qualities that would actually make them a great irl role model. Although video games are games, they can teach many morals and how to be a better person.

Which video game characters would you call admirable? Why do you think so? What stands out about them?

I'm going to go with the guy that I had in mind while creating this topic. Dunban from Xenoblade Chronicles. He is a steadfast and strong leader who doesn't get his pride hurt when he can no longer wield the Monado. He is a natural leader and war hero, and acts a father figure very well. There are honestly very few characters in anything PERIOD that I like more than Dunban. He is a flawed character, but he is just great at the same time. He was thrust in at a young age to take care of his younger sister, Fiora. Anybody who can adapt like he has many times is great in my book. (I probably just did a horrible job explaining this)

In Undertale I would say the character of Sans, trying not to be cliche here and just talking about the latest game, but I can say that he is a character a lot of people connected with if you stayed on the pacifist route. He is kinda nonchalant about everything and a sleeply little guy just trying to make his family happy. Its what I imagine a lot of people want in life. Where I say he is most admirable is in the Genocide run, to keep all his fellow monsters and to keep the world safe from your demonic actions he gives his life to fighting you over and over and over again. It may be just out of vengeance for killing his brother or for the true care of what happens to the world; I find it very admirable of him to just sacrifice all he could have done with his life to stall you and when you land your hit finally he just cares about what his brother might want to eat. Even in his time of passing he just cares about his family and just cares about taking care of his little world. He is a down to earth character, hiding the secret of santa like a parent, tired all the time, protecting family, it is what I would say the trope of the comic relief and secretly powerful one done correctly.

I'm going to have to go with Red. Now, this is the Red from Transistor. She's not a fighter, she's a singer. A beautiful musician who quite literally changes the world with her voice. And when her world is shattered, when her voice is stolen from her, she doesn't lose hope. She keeps on going, pushing forward despite everything that's happened to her. She has her flaws, and she has no idea what she's doing half the time, but despite that she continues to fight. Right after her voice is stolen, she doesn't stop to think or cry. Instead, she picks up the Transistor and begins her story, her quest for understanding, vengeance.

She's just such an inspiring figure, refusing to give up against all odds(however stereotypical that sounds), and all of the little details that make her a person(some of which would unfortunately spoil the plot of the game) are what really make me think she's so admirable.

There's also the Transistor himself, or Blue, or whatever, but that's something else entirely. Seriously though, Blue is an amazing character as well, for reasons I can't even talk about because his very character is almost a spoiler

One I have always thought was a great guy is Simon Blackquil from Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies but the reason is a spoiler so I'll put it all under a spoiler tab.

Long before the events of the game, Simon purposefully gets found guilty of committing a murder and receives the death penalty. He is on death row when prosecuting in the game. Of course, the reason he's being allowed to do this is that Edgeworth, now the chief prosecutor, suspects that Blackquil was never actually guilty and hopes that giving him the ability to prosecute again will lead him to the truth of that case. Now comes the part that makes me think so highly of Blackquil. The reason he wanted to be found guilty was because he thought that Athena, only a small child at the time, may have committed the murder. After all, he found her with the body, laying upon a robotics maintenance device, with blood covering both of them. But Blackquil never knew for certain that Athena was the killer. He barely even knew her, yet he decided to sentence himself to death in order to protect the young girl by admitting to the crime. The fact that her do something like that for a child he barely knew is super admirable, in my eyes. It's the reason why Blackquil is one of my favorite characters and why I'm so excited he's back in Spirit of Justice.
