I don't know how many people are actually watching the Sun and Moon series, but for those who are watching it the Pokémon league is coming up...at least, in Japan. For those watching it in English, like me, we won't be getting it until November or so. Anyways, with the league ever approaching I thought that now would be a good time to talk about just what we might see in the league. Do you guys have any predictions? Any hopes? Anything you're dreading to see? For me personally, I really don't want Ash to use his Pokémon from other regions. I just want him to stick to his Alolan team. They're good at battling, but many of them haven't been able to show off just how good they can be. What I'm most eager to see though is just who Ash's 'big battle' is going to be against. This may or may not necessarily be the final battle of the league, but it's the one that feels the most significant for Ash and gets a lot of focus. Like in Diamond and Pearl, Ash may have battled Tobias in the final, but his biggest battle was definitely with Paul. I'm wondering just who Ash's big battle will be with this season, though I have four guesses of who it could be. Kiawe (least likely), Gladion (because he's Ash's main 'rival' in this series, it's actually pretty likely), Hau (because he's not just one of Ash's rivals, but he was also the champion in Ultra Sun and Ultra moon), and finally, Kukui (who hasn't had a single proper battle with Ash in the series, and was the champion in the original Sun and Moon games, so it's definitely a possibility). I'm really hoping that Kukui gets that battle with Ash. Maybe what we can have happen is that Ash will have two big battles, one with Gladion, which could last for two episodes, and one with Kukui in the finals, which would be another two episodes. Or, you know, I've also heard the rumor that the league is going to be done in battle royale style, which I wouldn't mind so much just so long as it's only that way during the preliminaries. The final 16 trainers should then have more traditional league battles. Anyways, what do you guys think? What's going to happen in the league, and will this finally be Ash's chance to win?
Maybe in keeping in the school theme (which I still think they never should have used), the battle with Kukui is Ash's "final exam", so to speak. He may still "pass" the exam, but probably not win it all (as we still have Galar in the wings) Or this could be the Orange Islands: Part 2, which he technically wins, but it is not officially counted.
