You're never allowed to just mind your own business in video games - inevitably, there is always someone, SOMEWHERE, who wants to see what you're made of.

...or, rather, a whole lot of someones. Excluding bosses, what is your favourite enemy in a video game? Do you find yourself taking an interest in the local flora and fauna if provided a bestiary, or are they simple stepping stones on your way to greatness? Is there an enemy in a particular video game that you cannot stand?

In Earthbound... oh, boy. ANYTHING that "explodes".
The problem with these is that when an enemy "explodes", it means that upon their defeat, they will then damage all my teammates fatally. With the rolling HP meter, it's not so bad, but it sucks when they trap you in battle and if you can't run, you're never getting out unscathed. Then you have to waste a whole lot of time and items/PP healing.
I'm lucky I managed to run from so many of those... but not quite many enough.

Lately I've been playing Far Cry 5, and mostly it's just reminded me how much more I like Far Cry 4's enemies. So let me set the idea for you: Far Cry 3 was a pretty ordinary FPS as far as combat goes (run and shoot or sneak and stab) with the addition of enemy tagging: you aim in on an enemy for one full second and they get an icon over their head. Makes the game much easier when you can see enemies through grass and trees and walls with this "tagging".

But then Far Cry 4 introduced hunters: these were sneaky ninja-archers who ran around in the forest and were hard to follow with your eyes... plus their tagging function wore off after about 5 or 10 seconds. This made them much harder: you could be sneaking through the forest or caught in a hectic firefight against twelve bad guys, ten of them you can see through walls by an icon floating overhead, but two of them casually faded from sight when you weren't paying attention and are hiding somewhere in the bush and gun smoke. Oh no, who just shot me with an arrow! I forgot about these enemies because the previous game was too easy!

So yeah, I love the hunters in Far Cry 4. Far Cry 3 and the first half of 4 got me used to a feature that made the game way too easy, then the second half of 4 had the ninjas that sneakily removed the easy feature. I probably went a few few fights before I noticed, hated, then loved them.

i swear the bravely default enemies are mean
but it's likely because i suck at the game and can barely progress through easy mode lol

Don't have a favorite enemy but I do enjoy knocking 'em dead when grinding to level up. \o/ Meanwhile Morbols in FFXIV have always been hecka annoying because of their breath attack that puts 3959696 debuffs on you. And a healer's debuff remover spell only removes one debuff at a time..........
