It's surprising there's not a thread about this, but soundtracks are huge part of almost any anime so it's only right to have topic for them.
I'm trying to finally finish Little Busters! right now and I noticed soothing and beautiful the soundtrack is already, even though I'm just a few episodes in. There's a few other I really like, namely HQ!!'s (surprisingly), Clannad's, Kanon's, but also NHK ni Youkoso's and of course Pokémon's. Those all seem capture the atmosphere and feel of the series at its core and give it an authentic feeling. I guess Key anime always have fantastic OSTs, at least all the ones I've watched.
What are your favorite OSTs? What does the OST add to a series for you?

I don't watch a lot of anime, preferring manga. But I adore the OSTs, even if I haven't seen the anime, especially when I'm writing.

These are some of my top picks (I'd link the video, but my computer is acting up and I haven't found the charging cord for my other one):
This Day and Never Again (Fate/Zero)
    Surgam Identidem (Madoka Magica)
    Sis Puella Magi (Madoka Magica)
    Lapis Philosophorum (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood)
Oracion (Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai)
I Was Waiting For This Moment (Madoka Magica)

I really like the OST of:
    K
    Your Lie in April
    Fullmetal Alchemist
    Pokémon(some seasons, japanese version usually)

Especially Your Lie in April, it's a music anime, and the music is simply amazing

Little Busters' OST is great. Nothing too overwhelming, but just right enough to make it very enjoyable.

I have a playlist solely for anime OSTs on my phone which I listen to quite often when doing pretty much anything.
I have OSTs from Attack on Titan, Zankyou no Terror, Anohana, Ano Natsu de Matteru, K Project, Owari no Seraph, Little Busters, Angel Beats, Noragami, Rokka no Yuusha, The, Asterisk War, and Plastic Memories.
I watched Garden of Words yesterday and really enjoyed the movie and OSTs that played during it, so I was listening to that yesterday as well.

My favorite part about finishing an anime is looking up the OSTs afterwards. But I've learned an important lesson while looking up OSTs...
That lesson would be to only look up any OST for an anime after you've finished it. I've spoiled 2 different anime because I was too excited and looked up a couple OSTs I really liked.
Thankfully, they were minor spoilers, but I don't wanna risk the possibility of something big being spoiled. :P

OSTs alone can help you enjoy an anime more than you already do.
They also play a pretty big part in the intensity of a battle or the suspense of an event, for example, so that's why I enjoy them so much and find them very important.

Oh my god, there are some beautiful OSTs out there that i can't help but listen to any time i get a chance. Most of the songs from music animes I love (well, the only ones I've seen are K-On and Hibike! Euphonium), they are amazing to listen to.

However, when I can actually listen to certain parts of the backing music and just love it, those are amazing. I agree with almost any reviewer out there in saying anything by Yoko Kanno is utterly brilliant (Cowboy Bebop and Zankyou no Terror are two examples). Code Geass and Baccano are the other two examples.

Then there are those songs that you just remember from certain anime in the background. It might not be the whole soundtrack, but there is just one song that sticks with me. Some examples are the Dragonslayer's theme and Dark Guild Theme from Fairy Tail, The World of Adventure from Hunter x Hunter, The Music Box from Gakkou Gurashi, the chase theme from Comet Lucifer and Gate of ZeldaSteiner from Steins;Gate.

I honestly wish I had the money to buy all of these OSTs, especially Baccano's and Zankyou no Terror's.
