    Hm, I feel like one could start off with more light hearted anime before easing into darker ones. The ones above are excellent suggestions.

    I'd also suggest Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Haikyuu, Madoka Magica, Kill la Kill, Angel Beats, One Punch Man, Death Parade, aaaand Hell Girl. There's a lot more but those are my top suggestions!

    do you have two hours?
    Jokes aside though, I have to recommend Gurren Lagann because it’s my favorite. Other recommendations for good shows that haven’t been named yet would be Little Witch Academia and The Seven Deadly Sins. Also Attack on Titan is a good starting point, but it can at times be a little more brutal than the other ones I mentioned.
