Yuck, computer viruses... They come in all kinds of variations, and no matter which one infects your computer, you'll certainly suffer a lot!
Luckily, where there's a virus, there's antivirus software! The people behind that kind of software are constantly trying to find a solution to the newest and most dangerous viruses, providing the internet with safety.

What are your experiences with computer viruses? How many did you get? How did you get them? How did you get rid of them?
What antivirus software do you use? Is it paid or free? How has antivirus helped to protect your computer?
    Tell us here!

There was a minor virus called Pop-up viruses which causes sites like Aliexpress pop-up occasionally on your computer. Fortunately I didn't have certain viruses leading my computer to format / lose files of data without choice. Some viruses can be exterminated from the Control Panel and such vaccines. I use Avira - free antivirus, Avast - free antivirus, and Naver Vaccine. They helped my computer be intact from viruses; I scan it frequently just to be safe.

I dealt with computer viruses a long time ago on my old computer. I was using Avast which is a free antivirus, but not all the viruses were removed so I eventually had to take it to a computer guy to get them removed. I can't remember the number of viruses, but it was a lot and after getting them removed my computer ran pretty smoothly.

I am usually too lazy to actually scan my computer, so I probably have a lot of viruses lol. I think the worst one I ever got was on Windows 8 where it deleted literally everything on my computer(keep in mind this is the computer that I had about 5 school documents on at the time). Usually I try to avoid websites that have lots of ads(anime websites mainly) so I try to stick to legal services like crunchyroll.

Also, please don't go onto websites that have flash games. They are filled with viruses and not just in the website. A good amount of the actual games have malicious code in them.

My old computer had everything imaginable, over 18 Trojans at one point. I mean I dont use anti virus usually because my computers cant run them well. Usually I suffered with them until I could get a new computer.

I use Avira Anti-Virus as my go to ever since AVG's free version nearly killed my older laptop with a bad update. Usually when that doesn't work I'll use something like Malwarebytes or a number of different scanners to remove any viruses I have

I remember this topic coming up almost a year ago, as it spoke of antivirus programs. My state on it hasn't changed, so it would be better for me to just link the post here for ease.

I've had a few odd experiences with viruses, though it was nothing especially devastating. I did have to scour and format the hard drive once, but the computer was so full of clutter anyway I was doing it a favour. In the process I found out never to download Ad-Aware SE, because I kept getting a virus from somewhere that would render it useless instantly.

Ever since Microsoft stopped supporting XP in April 2014, I've stuck with whatever third-party software will help to keep my computer secure. I've been using Comodo Firewall for my firewall, Avira for antivirus protection, Spyhunter for malware, and Kaspersky to pick up any remaining stragglers.

Back in the day the family computer would get viruses all the damn time thanks to it being tha Kazaa P2P age. Anybody remember that shit? Yeaah. Reformatted that old computer more times than I can count.

These days I mostly use operating systems where viruses are rare (though not completely non-existent) so it's not even an issue I encounter, and AVG Free in combination with Malwarebytes has kept me virus-free otherwise for a good long time.
