Just wondering if anyone else here besides myself listens to metal. If so, what are your favourite bands? Subgenres? And why do you like it? Metal is one of my most listened to music genres. I was first introduced into the genre through bands like Kamelot, Circus Maximus, Within Temptation, and Amaranthe, since at the time I wasn't a fan of the heavier, screamed stuff. Since then my taste in metal has expanded a lot, and nowadays I love heavier metal, and I really enjoy listening to harsh vocals. As for my favourite genres, I love folk metal, stoner/doom metal, melodic death metal, and symphonic black and death metal. I'll listen to anything though, from Dio to Behemoth. Within Temptation to Cattle Decapitation. Some of my favourite bands are Powerwolf, Equilibrium, Electric Wizard, Black Sabbath, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Slayer, Carach Angren, and Conan. And finally, the reason I like metal is because of the overall sound, and the diversity of the genre, from the epic and energetic sound of power metal, to the slow, heavy sound of doom metal.
I like alt metal and rap metal and I guess nu metal since that's one of several genres that 311 is lol Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Rage Against the Machine being my favorite bands from the alt metal and rap metal genres it's just great music to listen to, I love 90s alt rock and grunge so it's kinda obvious that I'd like alt metal too, I love the energy that Rage Against the Machine had, and 311 is in my top 5 favorite bands
I'm more of just a casual listener, but I do listen to metal occasionally. It's surprisingly fun to listen to while writing. Randomly finding a song by Luca Turilli got me into it. Some of his songs and some of Kamelot's are probably the only one's I'd know just by listening. Generally I just prefer music that's more mellow, but like I said it's good for setting a pace for writing.
