I need to win an argument with @Wiso Altred. Cheetos are sold in the chip aisle Cheetos are like popped chips which are a type of chip Cheetos should just be chips Cheetos are made by Lays, a chip people company So yeah, do you believe they are chips, because they are
Blashpmey Cheetos is obviously not a chip, just look at it! It doesnt look like a normal Lays chip. It doesnt smell like any Lays chip flavour. Its puffed, with flavour all around and almost 0 sign of potato. It, therfore, IS NOT A CHIP!
Except they are chips though, there’s plenty of things in the chips aisle that aren’t shaped like regular potato chips. At least where I live, so they count as chips.
Its not just the shape!, its the smell, the taste! ITS CHEMICAL PROPERTIES! THEY ARE NOT CHIPS! HOW CAN THEY BE CHIPS, JUST CAUSE THERE IN THE CHIP ISLE DOESNT MEAN THEY'RE CHIPS!
Psh, what else is in the chip aisle that aint chips, uhhhhhhh other chips of course. Also all chips taste different in some way man
I could name many things in isles that arent there general category. Chips are a thin slice that is then baked or fried, If cheetos can be chips, then We can all be Chips!
Excuse you, not all chips are thin, fritos are chips and are thicc and curved for optimal dipage, which you should never dip a chip, it makes it soggy
Chips can come in all shapes and sizes, we dont judge. But they must be chips to be thicc chips. If you are not a chip you dont deserve to be called a chip, this is an offense to chips worldwide.
But Cheetos are still chips, how is it not a chip if all you called out if the whole, not a potato. There are Corn Chips, so alternate chips!
I'll post here once and never look back, because this thread is already kind of silly. Go read the bag, every word on it. Is the product called a chip on the bag? No? Then t's not a chip. Even Pringles aren't chips (go read the tube), they're "potato crisps", ever since a 1975 US FDA ruling which declared that chips are made from sliced dried potatoes (with exception for tortilla chips). If Cheetos are chips, they will self-identify as such. If they are not such, they then will not and legally can not self-identify as such. As for the location in which Cheetos are found: pretzel sticks are in the chips aisle, yet they are not chips. Cheese puff balls are in the chips aisle, yet they are not chips. Salsa dip is in the chips aisle, yet it is not chips. Let's just call them all snacks and get on with our days.
I initially voted Yes but Zero makes a good and truthful point. The official website doesn't call them chips either. They are "crunchy cheese flavored snacks".
They are most definitely a type of snack food, I can say that for certain. But I personally wouldn't call them chips.
How dare you insult the greatness of the Cheeto with the simple term 'chip.' They have their own undeniable awesomeness that no such chip will ever achieve! Also, pretzels are found in the chip aisle and are often packed in chip bags. Doesn't make them chips. Sorry @Cadbberry but the only valid argument you have is that they are made by Lays, an exclusively chip company outside of the Cheetos. Which is admittedly a good point, but not enough to sell me on your stance on its own.
I mean, chips come in a lot of different shapes, circles, ovals, triangle, little shards of chip, scoops, hoops, rods, why not rods with extra shape Also, this is why I shouldn't be posting at like 5am children.
Potato content has nothing to do with being a chip. Tortilla chips are still chips, but some have no potato. Case closed. #MissingNo
I wouldn't say it's a chip. More like just a snack food. It's definitely not in the chip type category.
