Simple enough question: do you find Pokémon games hard? We're not talking about Challenge mode or anything, but are they hard in general?

When I was little and didn't know what I was doing, yeah, they were hard. But, now, I can beat them pretty quickly and easily.

Nah. I like playing them. They're pretty easy for me, just get good attacks and a wide type range.

When I was little and inexperienced I couldn't even beat the second gym in Sapphire. But now I can easily play through a Pokémon game without any trouble. I guess it depends on your experience with the game.

I don't think they are meant to be difficult. The reason why Pokémon is so successful is due to it's various gameplay capabilities. It's a game where the Pokémon you catch are more important than the actual "Become the Pokémon Champion" task, in my opinion at least. I think if someone is new to Pokémon, it would be a challenge at first understanding the weaknesses and strengths of types in battle but once you've got the hang of it, it's just there to enjoy!

Pokémon games were extremely difficult when i was smaller but once i understood what to do and how to do it they became easier and easier. The competitive side of Pokémon is what brings the challenge imo.

I don't think they're hard, the hard part was and is sometimes for me even today, is I'm often underleved. Which makes it hard to beat gyms leaders and rival battles.

Sort of, I guess... The battles themselves are generally easy to get past, but then there are things like having to get through caves which are a bit of a pain to navigate and a bit hard to get through because of that. The wild Pokémon battles also make the caves rather hectic if you don't use your Repels. For the most part, no, I wouldn't call Pokémon hard, but navigating the caves stands out to me as something I'd call a little harder.

Nope. They're designed in a way that anybody can win with almost any combination of Pokémon if they are trained enough. That's why people have created self-imposed challenges and why things like the PWT are clearly more difficult. The core game isn't hard at all and isn't designed to be, every single small challenge it throws at you can be overcome with some grinding.

Easy. Very easy, just fun to play through. Competitive playing is a challenge, but the playthrough of the game is very easy, regardless of who you use. Provided its not a mono-type team

They aren't really hard, especially if you know what you're doing. I think the E4 is normally a struggle for me, but they are supposed to be the "final boss" of Pokémon.

If you know what you're doing and are willing to work (eg. grind) a little, it's not that hard. Having said that, don't be afraid to try a different strategy if what you're doing isn't working

Well, when I was younger I didn't understand what I was doing the first time playing of course, haha. I trained up my starter, while all my other Pokémon were way under leveled. Then once that starter was knocked out...dun, dun, dun.

Now that I'm older and have been playing the games for years now, I understand the game mechanics like the difference between physical and special attacks. So, I'd have to answer: No, I personally don't find them hard, but it might be tough for a newer player, who needs to learn the type match-ups, and stuff like that.

Pokémon games are generally pretty easy. Grinding, though, is just a pain. I really love doing the extra stuff, so it takes me a longer time to finish a game. :3 It's just a relaxing game I like to play during lazy days.

Initially, it probably was (I don't remember), but now, not so much. I mean, every now and then, some random Gym Leader or something gives me trouble, but that usually doesn't last long. Just train a little more, maybe switch out Pokémon to use, and problem is solved.
    In short, no.

Probably when I was younger, they were kinda hard.
RIght now I find them off-puttingly easy. I tend to evade trainers and grass (I always have) because I'm too lazy to battle -I like the other aspects of Pokémon, mostly, or "true" battles, rather than simple pushovers- and as a result, I'm pretty much always at least a bit underleveled. And yet I still beat the games with ease...
As it's been said before, the true challenge are the facilities made to challenge you, such as Battle Frontier and PWT. Even Elite 4 re-matches are pretty easy if your Pokémon are of the appropiate level (That is, at least 8 levels below the E4's :P)

No, the games aren't hard. As others have said before, the hardest part (and it's not even hard, just annoying) is grinding to get your levels up. Once you have high enough levels, you can beat any trainer in the game-- there's almost no strategy involved except knowing type advantages/weaknesses. I often get frustrated if I'm not knocking out my opponents in one hit, because I've gotten used to that-- leveling up high enough and just sweeping everything in-game. I sorta like that about it, though. I'm not really the type to get sucked into games because of their difficulty, I like working toward things at a steady rate rather than failing, coming up with a new strategy, failing, coming up with a different strategy, still failing. I like games I can relax with and just move forward in after enough gentle work. That's why I primarily only play Pokémon and Harvest Moon. But that's just me, personally.

Nope, not really. You can play through the game and still win with your starter as your only party Pokémon. Sometimes it can be hard, like when your party is underleveled before the first Gym match, but basically if you grind enough the game will be a breeze to beat. (I beat White Kyurem in White 2 with only an Ampharos. It was quite disappointing since I was expecting a mega-hard legendary battle.)
It's even easier if you actually use the legendary mascot Pokémon in the game because they usually have great stats and moveset.
