This is a definite yes for me. Video games are the ultimate escape and I love to play video games a lot. Without them, I would probably confide in other things such as books or movies.

Do you confide in video games throughout stressful times? Let us know ;)

Definitely!! When I am stressed, there's nothing like submerging myself into another world. Wether its a JRPG or a FPS (for another kind of stress relief...), gaming does the trick very well.

Depends on the game and genre. Fighting games, for example, can become quite intense if playing competitively, and may induce stress (only sometimes). Smash bros is a good example.

Other games, like GTA can be great stress relievers. Not to sound horrible, but you can hurt things and cause trouble (basically a free-for-all) and not get caught if you're stealthy enough.

Overall though, I would say: Yes, most video games in general are a great stress reliever.

They are, depending on what game you play. It is advertised so much that Animal Crossing New Leaf is a stress free game, but as some one who has tried to get a perfect town and a golden house many times, I can tell you that is not the case, haha.

Of course if you play more casually, it's about as relaxing as you can get.

There are 3 ways games can relieve stress.

    1) Lose you in their interesting story and characters. Games like Xenoblade did this to me, taking away real world stress because I was so engrossed. Kinda like a book.

    2) Really peaceful atmosphere and characters, laid back, no real failure. Animal Crossing.

    3) CUTTING EVERYTHING IN YOUR WAY INTO SHREDS TO LET YOUR ANGER OUT. Most FPSs, but more so Hack N' Slashers, like No More Heroes.

In a way, yes. It really takes me away to a different world where I can focus on something other than irl problems. Of course it gives me a little more stress due to some of the frustrating puzzles.

As long as I'm not getting turned around by the game's challenges, video games act as a way for me to escape reality and lose myself in the game. I like blowing things up in Jak II when I'm angry. :)

Video games simply help me keep my mind off things, especially when i'm stressed, angry, or feeling down. It helps me be in my own world and know that nothing bad is happening right now so just sit back, relax, and play your awesome game :D

God yes. I usually play shooting games to relax, it's kind of a way to relieve the urge to throw something without ACTUALLY throwing something.

Hmm... depens on the game for me! If i am stressed i will play something like Borderlands 2, or Assassin's creed 2, but when i am in for die hard gaming it's tf2 (as weird as it sounds). I am very rarely stressed so yeah.

    Yes.
I mostly use them to kill time, and it's really fun experiencing a new plot~

I find it as a way to eat time, relax, and do something that I can enjoy, yes. It lets me feel, for that brief interlude, that I have not a care in the world. I suppose with the hustle and bustle of life, that would count as a 'stress reliever', though they would technically be more of an 'escape' than anything else. Essentially, it's an escape that relieves stress as a perk.

I kinda predicted this agreement. Heck to the yes are they a stress reliever for me. If I just spent 9 hours at work or 2 hours in school or any other thing of any duration of time that I didn't want to do but really had to do, video games are my #2 choice of stress relief.

"You can't leave work until you've done all this (usually) boring and mundane stuff for most of your waking day." "Whatever. When I get home I'm going to Tamriel and I'm going to do what I want, when I want, the way I want to do it. It's all my choice. Heck, even if I do have to do something there, I can just decide not to and play a different game!"

Whether it's sniping/bashing badguy heads in an action game or leisurely strolling through a scenic canyon in a casual game, I have the choices to do what I want in these worlds.

I'd say yes.. but then I play games that are very difficult and make me want to chuck my system out the window. x'D;; So there are times where I'd get frustrated and put the game down for a while, lol. In cases like those they're most certainly not stress relievers but more often than not I love to settle down and turn on the 3DS to play something and have a good time when I'm down. <3
