This is just from an article that I read, but, I'd love to hear some opinions on the matter. Are video games getting easier, and easier than before? For instance, from what the article I've read about, take a look at the video games from a couple of years ago. Some of them don't have that extensive 'tutorial' from the first moments of the game, so, you'd basically have to figure out everything yourself if you didn't have a manual. But, that's only one opinion.

But what do you think - do you think video games nowadays (like the ones on the Wii U, the Xbox 360, the PS3, the 3ds etc.) are much easier to beat than the video games before (like the ones on the NES, the Genisis, etc).

Feel free to post all thoughts!~

Sadly yes. Just look at Pokémon X/Y, and OR/AS. It's really a shame what they've been doing with these games recently. They mentioned in an interview that the battle frontier won't come back because "it's too hard" which I find ridiculous. Please don't dumb down these games that I loved playing as a kid, at least introduce difficulty settings - it isn't hard.

Even without internet and/or strategy guides, video games over the years have developed a nasty habit of handing the player everything on a silver platter. I've noticed that optional challenges still exist, but these days, all you really get is acknowledgement via text or a short, animated footage instead of a reward that should've otherwise been given to you, instead of it being handed to you earlier on a silver plate; because you as the player earned it. Even though games will always be games, hard work is supposed to pay off, not disappoint.

On the contrary, if there are no difficulty settings, then yeah, pretty much every game in this current millennium could be beaten with a blindfold, unless you're some newbie who played their first game just a few weeks ago.

I definitely think video games are becoming much easier than before. You have so many tutorials in games that tell you what to do as well as set AI difficulty extremely low. Not only that, but actually change unfair difficulties that made the game so famous in the first place.
Sure you could argue games like I am Bread, and Surgeon Simulator are difficult, but you have to realize that those games are one of man and manipulate the controls to a pretty straight forward game.

Indeed, they are way easier than before. I think it's because most video games are directing on kids now that adults, although were playing them as well. It could also be the time constraints, but I doubt that's a issue.
I'm just going to give an example. From Eternia the only way to kill the final boss is to use your special move at a specific moment. In Xillia 2, the main charechter was immensely OP, and with your OP-ness, you could defeat your enemies in about a 5th of your time than in the first game.
Hopefully this is just a fad, and we will get harder games soon~

I definitely think that in general, video games are way easier to beat. When I go back and try my hand at some of the older games, I find the older games to be several times harder than these newfangled games that we have today.

Yes, i would say that games have became really much easier than they were. I think that it is a bad thing, i would want challenging games, not easy games :/
