How long can you prevent yourself from playing Pokémon?

What's the longest time (without stopping) that you have played Pokémon for?

What is the reason that you play or don't play a lot of Pokémon?

Whenever I get a new Pokémon game (White 2 is the most recent example I can think of), I usually power through it to beat it. I usually play for a few hours and get pretty far (because I'm not concerned with Natures and EVs and thinks of that nature). Once I beat it, I usually do some of the post-game things. Afterwards, though, unless there's something I really want to do, I just don't play that game anymore.

I've been a fan ever since the game came out. I remember buying Pokémon Yellow, and almost completing the Pokédex... Now, some 11 or so years later, I'm gearing up for X and Y.

    - I can actually prevent myself from playing any Pokémon game for a really long period of time. It just means I have to misplace all Pokémon games or lose my systems that play them XD. But if I really want to play it, I will get pretty mad when I cannot find it.

    - Longest I think for me was. . . about 3 months? Maybe a bit longer? When Black and White came out, I pretty much stopped playing Pokémon. But when White2/Black2 were being announced, that's when I decided to give gen 5 a try.

    - I play Pokémon because I've been a fan since 1998-99 era. The games are fun and I love wandering around the million-routes and crevasses they make in the games. Plus finding items is always fun! When I don't play Pokémon it's probably due to me getting distracted by another game or just being too lazy to do anything else in the current Pokémon game I am playing.

    > At any time for however long needed. I'm not a huge fan of RPGs so i don't stick with them for all that long. The hardest to take a break from was conquest, haha, i had to run to train and just continued playing on the train until laptop charged out. But besides that, the breaks can be as long as a few hours/ days to pretty much years.

    > Hmmm... nearly a whole day or two on PMD Sky and Conquest. I think that's about it for the longest. Like, without actual breaks that weren't tea, food or pee breaks. Besides that it's usually as many hours as my attention span allows, sometimes more than twelve hours, sometimes less than an hour.

    > The answer is rather simple. I want or don't want to. No other actual reasons.

When I was younger, I never thought I'd be because I didn't want to identify with nerds (was trying to ditch the massive amount of nerdiness I had at the time).

But, now, after playing Crystal, Soulsilver, and now White and Black 2, I can say yes: I am a Pokémon nerd. I know almost every Pokémon by appearance. There's still a fuzzy spot in the third generation where I don't know all of the Pokémon, but I think I'll patch that over.

Between the TCG and white2 and PMD that I'm borrowing, it has an awful lot of stuff I do.

Yes, I play Pokémon pretty much everyday and I don't play too many other video game series.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted to the games, so much as the stories we write. After Gold/Silver, I kinda fell out of the fandom for a few years....got back into it, when Black/White came out, and got all caught up with the older games. Then they all just kinda....sat on my desk, for a year or so. As much as I love writing for my Pokémon characters and drawing stuff, I think I could easily go long periods of time, without playing the games.
