So I've had an idea for a Pokemonized folktale comic, written around the frame of Brock telling the tales to Ash, Misty, and Serena around a campfire. But, I can't draw to save my life, so I'm looking for an artist that can help me bring this idea to life. Every "issue" of the comic would tell one tale (with a little bit of gentle commentary from the real world on the events of the tale. An issue would go like this: --We join the group at the campfire --Brock introduces the tale for the issue --The tale --Ash and the girls (and possibly the Pokémon) share their final thoughts on it
I may be able to help with this. I'm not very good at backgrounds, but I can definitely draw Pokémon and things like that.
If they're anime style then I definitely can. They wouldn't exactly be 100% anatomically correct, but I'm decent with humans and humanoids. (I struggle with hands and feet sometimes, but I'd be willing to work on that and now just avoid it).
@Gazi Can you at least have the anime characters (Ash, Misty, Brock, and Serena) look accurate, and draw other human characters in the style of the anime? If you're curious about what the main four characters are wearing: Ash is wearing his D/P costume Misty is wearing a slightly more modest version of her Let's Go costume Brock is wearing his Let's Go costume Serena is in her official XY costume (with long hair)
I can definitely draw those characters accurately, as well as other humans. When I said that it wouldn't be anatomically correct, I meant when compared to somebody who has actually studied art and real-life human bodies. Because somehow knowing real-life proportions makes even anime and cartoon humans look more realistic. However, I can still draw those characters perfectly fine.
@Gazi Okay, basically, here's how this would work: --I would PM you the "script" for each page --You could ask me any questions you have about the script before you start drawing --You can send me in progress panels if you like for any feedback --Once both of us are happy with the page, it goes up What would be a reasonable release schedule to you?
That sounds good to me. I haven't really done anything like this before though, so I have no idea what a reasonable release schedule would be. I know I can draw a picture or panel fairly quickly, though I don't know how long it would take to draw a page. Then there's the question of coloring, which I'm just assuming you would want, though I could be wrong. If you did want color, that would take some more time for each drawing or page. I'm not sure how long this would take, though after doing the first page and having more of a general idea of exactly what I'm doing I'd probably be able to give you an actual estimate.
@Gazi Okay, I can PM you some of my preliminary thoughts for this first issue. For now, color would only happen occasionally (covers, milestone issues, etc). The brunt of it we could likely get away with in black and white
