That’s a tough one, I haven’t really measured her in a long time. What i do know is that it takes about 3 people to hold her to her full length. Of course, they aren’t stretching their arms all the way out, they actually have to support her, but still.
Damn she aint a small noodle then for sure. Do you collect her sheds if they come off in one big piece?
The most recent additions to the flock are some Super Blues, which are white chickens that lay blue eggs. There’s a few types of more standard ones, and we also have one very sweet Polish hen named Poofy who loves to snuggle.
Oh I love Polish hens! Their crest is really cute, looks like a living featherduster in the best of ways. Is there an animal you have yet to care fore that you would want to pick up in the near future?
Probably either a rabbit or a hamster. I had some friends that had rabbits, they seem like really fun pets, although sometimes a bit difficult to care for. And I'd love building all sorts of complex things for a hamster to play in, plus they're just so cute!
Mango is always covered in bits of raspberries, which make him look like he killed someone, and Clyde would kill someone for a single sunflower seed.
I would let Clyde kill me if they get sunflower seeds. How many chickens do you have? Roosters or hens? If any of them are hens, what do you do with the eggs?
It’s tough to keep track since most of them are free range, but I’d estimate about 15. We just keep hens, don’t really want any fertilized eggs right now. We have some friends that are always happy to take the roosters off our hands. We actually have way too many eggs right now. We mainly just eat them, we’ve had a lot more egg-based foods lately (Custard, Eggs Benedict, etc) Other than that, we also sell some of them to friends.
Awww, nice! Have any of your other pets eaten those eggs too? I've heard that if a bird lays eggs you'll need to give them eggs for calcium.
I believe we have given some eggs to our parrots before, but I don’t believe we have given any to the chickens. They get their calcium from their feed. We used to also feed eggs that we accidentally cracked to our previous dog.
Favourite way of preparing food for pets? Like how some people cook for their pets, or feed them out their hand.
I love feeding them by hand. The goats love eating banana peels right from your hand, and the birds always enjoy some seeds. Some you can’t really feed by hand, though. The chickens and doves are too nervous, The cats eat meat, and I don’t want to let fruit flies for the poison dart frogs get out of the cage and all over the house.
