Astrallocke: Pokémon Flora Sky!

So here's the deal: I'm bored, and I want to play some Pokémon. But, I've played all the main series games so many times, they're just plain boring. Luckily, the world has enough Pokémon ROM Hacks to enjoy for all eternity and beyond, so I chose a neat hack called Pokémon Flora Sky. I don't remember all the details, but it's located in an entirely new region, and it contains all Pokémon up to generation V!

For those of you unfamiliar with the standard Nuzlocke rules (yes the title says Astrallocke, but that doesn't mean it's anything different as a regular Nuzlocke), here are the basics:

• You can only catch the first Pokémon you encounter in a new route, town or other kind of area.
• If the first encounter is a previously obtained Pokémon, the second encounter may be caught.
• Once a Pokémon's HP reaches zero, it is considered dead, and must be either boxed or release (I usually box them to remember them later).
• That's pretty much it.

I'll be updating this every now and then, in the format of screenshots with text written by the one and only me (yes it's exactly the same as what Bloom did a few days ago, shut up, you're not the boss of me, I decide what I do and what not)

CHAPTER ONE:

So the game I'm playing is called Pokémon Flora Sky. Let's see what it looks like...

Flora Sky, Shaymin, I guess it's kind of related. Makes enough sense to me, let's continue with the hack.


Hi Professor Birch, long time no see! Also, that's not a Pokémon, that's an atrocity to mankind. Get it out of here, right now.


That trainer sprite looks a bit... Off... But hey that's okay, I won't judge. Looks cool enough for me!


Okay you know what never mind, this girl is so ready, I'm playing as her. Don't judge.


One random name generator later, and Pokémon Trainer Jasmine was born! Now let's get into the action!


Okay first of all, mom, please, never drive that truck again. Just look at how you parked it. Secondly, for a place called "SMALL TOWN", this place is actually really big. It even has a Day-Care Center. But I appreciate the name nevertheless.


Pokémon Flora Sky; the only Pokémon ROM Hack that includes invisible notebooks!

Why does Brendan have a Master Ball in his room? What, was his first Pokémon encounter a legendary Pokémon or something? Pfft, that's impossible...


Okay, apparently the routes are listed using letters instead of numbers. Creative.


OKAY I TAKE EVERYTHING BACK, MY FIRST POKÉMON ENCOUNTER IS A LEGENDARY POKÉMON TOO. WHERE IS MY MASTER BALL???


So apparently, the Cresselia was only an illusion, created by this person here. Also, I'm not sure if this pun was intentional or not, but it's a bad pun regardless.


Woohoo, starter time! I could choose from the generation IV starter trio, and of course I had to choose the cute and amazing Piplup! #Penguins4Life


I am proud of this nickname.

Sky won't let me pass, by the way, I have to find Brendan first. Fiiine...


WHOOPS I forgot to heal, great start of any Nuzlocke... Luckily, Kowalski already showed his genius by carrying an Oran Berry with him. Easy first rival battle!


Aw man, why does the doofus have to be in this game too?


OKAY HOLD IT RIGHT THERE. Catching a Ralts in front of my eyes is already painful enough to watch, but now you're using MY Pokémon to do it too? Bring it on Wally, I'll fight you any day!
But hey, I'm finally set free to go and catch something on my own! Maybe I'll get lucky and actually find a Ralts! If it's a male one, I could even make it a Gallade, and then-

One of our cats is called Ziggy, and he actually kind of resembles a Zigzagoon, so the nickname is not as lame as you'd think.


And here, apparently they built a Pokécenter in the Forest Entrance! I don't know why either... But, this is a perfect way to stop my first chapter.

CHAPTER TWO:

All right so, the grass patch where I caught Ziggy apparently also had Patrat (ugh), and quite commonly appearing Ralts (my luck is just horrible)

Not sure what Team Magma is doing in front of a tree, but they're not moving away. All right then, whatever.


New encounter, I am so okay with this! I named her Aeria, in tradition of all my early-game Flying type Pokémon.


Mrs. Master. I am done.


And this is the point where I realized I never stocked up on Potions and Antidotes. Luckily, I made it back to the Pokécenter before losing Aeria already!


I also caught Caffeineee, but I'm not using this thing for the life of me. You can just rot away in the PC until I get desperate enough to use you.


Damn, Psychic Trainers already this early in the game? Actually, he just has an Abra, never mind.


Yay, Berry Paradise!


I know people can make really creative things with this sometimes. I can't. Deal with it. She gave me an Oran Berry for it though.


Shit. Crit + Poison was too much for poor Ziggy. I'm actually sad about this, even though it's just a Zigzagoon.


New city! What a very... Unique name.


In Greek mythology, the Elysium is the place where all heroes go after dying, so it's only fitting for this run. Also, apparently Ziggy picked up an Antidote right after dying of poison herself. Oh the irony...


First Gym is apparently Fighting type! This will be a breeze with Aeria, it's like I already won this badge!


I don't like these kind of Gyms... Oh well, let's bump into walls forever!


Gym Leader time! Bring it on, Martin! His first two Pokémon are a Tyrogue and a Scraggy, who were both quickly dealt with by Aeria. But then he sent our his last Pokémon...


OKAY WHY A LEVEL TEN HITMONCHAN, THAT'S CHEATING!!!


Damnit, so close to winning! I'm absolutely not okay with this, but at least Kowalski can deal with the Hitmonchan now...


She tried so hard...

CHAPTER THREE:

So, after a regular route with some trainers, I finally reached the other side, where that witch was waiting for me. You know, the one from the Cresselia.


Okay, sure I guess? Though considering that the last time I saw a legendary Pokémon was just one of your illusions, I doubt if I should believe you...


NOPE NEVER MIND THESE ARE REAL


Aaaaaand they blasted me into the Torn World, which is supposedly their equivalent to the Distortion Realm. I'm starting to lose track of what's going on at this point.


Legendaries,
Legendaries everywhere.


Luckily, Shaymin was kind enough to teleport me away from there, into this random house... Thanks Shaymin!


Look, free EXP to grind! Actually, one of them had a Cottonee, which turned out to be an extremely close battle. I was almost sure that I'd lose there...


Come on, I want a decent encounter for once -_-


Cerberus, be a nice hellhound and pick up lots of stuff, okay?


Kowalski... You might be in trouble here...


Or not, okay then, whatever.

So, I spent the next 30 minutes (and that is NOT an exaggeration) trying to figure out what to do. Turns out, they actually make you walk all the way BACK to Small Town, the very first town ever. How in the world was I supposed to figure that out???


At least now I can check out the previously inaccesible Route D.


This game really hates me when it comes to the first encounters on each route. I am just not catching anything decent at all -_-


Rambo the Mareep and Caffeineee the Patrat can both have a great time at the Day-Care, I won't use them anyway.


FINALLY, SOMETHING GOOD HAPPENS. Please, please don't die on me anytime soon, Luminia. I have a strong feeling that you and Kowalski are going to be the core of my team for a very long time.


Bee-Bug Forest? Okay, I'll admit it, that one cracked me up a little. Let's see if I can catch a decent bug in here.

CHAPTER FOUR:​

This game is just throwing around legendary Pokémon left and right... And I'm totally okay with that, to be honest.​

The funniest thing is, Prinplup actually looks a bit like Kowalski! Just a bit changing in the color scheme and boom, there's your penguin!​

Finally, a bit of action in this place! I was actually really hyped for this, since the plot seems to be really interesting in this game. Bring it on, Magma doofuses!​

Any nuzlocker with a little bit of sanity would immediately walk away from a challenge like this, but needless to say, I did the challenge, and won! Free EXP for me!​

Inside the Hippowdon Temple is... Something straight out of Indiana Jones? This room looks pretty badass, I have to say. Let's see what's inside this Pokéball...​

Apparently, there's an entire labyrinth hidden under the temple, and now I'm stuck there... On the brighter side, I caught a Baltoy! Named it Spychic, because it's a spinning psychic. Let's hope I don't need to use you anytime soon, I'm really happy with the team I have now!​

That maze was so confusing that I had to make a map of it >_<​

And I did it all for... A mysterious key item that I probably won't find the use of anytime soon. Great!​

I just realized that I'm going through these routes way out of order... On the other hand, I seem to have been catching a lot of things lately, so my PC is filling up pretty quickly.​

Well, a shiny Celebi just appeared and teleported me to the Torn World. Wasn't there a shiny Celebi in Mystery Dungeon or something like that? By the way, don't get excited, the whole place is filled with those lame puzzles you also find in the eighth Hoenn Gym, it's not fun.​

Oh look, my buddies are back! Too bad they disappeared as soon as Shaymin came in... Wait... Shaymin...​

Okay so let's reason here, there's basically no way that this Shaymin is actually a natural shiny. Of course it's coded to be shiny be the game, right? BUT HEY LET'S JUST PRETEND IT ISN'T AND PARTY BECAUSE I HAVE A SHINY SHAYMIN!!!​

Named it Gracia, because who needs originality?​

​

​

Skipping ahead to the Steel type Gym Leader, by the way. I'd love to use Kitsune here, but it's only level 30 and I can't find a Fire Stone anywhere...​

See? This isn't going to work at all.​

And this is where I got stuck... If you look in the area I'm surfing inside of right now, you can clearly see that the one Swimmer on the route blocked my only way out. I don't have Fly yet, and no matter how many times I checked, there's literally no way out. I had to reset the game to my latest save state, which was in the battle against Shaymin. I have to do the entire Steel Gym again to get back where I am now... Today just really hasn't been my day.​

CHAPTER NINE:
Annoyed enough to join the Game Grumps.

Secret Bases, yeah! Too bad I don't have any decorations quite yet, but that's oky, I love Secret Bases!

Day 45. That is how many times I have seen the sun rise and set since I stranded on this lonely island. I just recently made a new friend here. He is very nice to me, and we've talked for hours. I named him Wilson.


Technically, this is my first encounter on this route... But I always made my own rule for this. Since I already have a Wingull, there would still be a chance to have two Pelipper at once, so I don't have to catch it. But Pelipper is a nice Pokémon to have though...


On second hand, I don't like Pelipper at all. Screw that.

CHAPTER TEN:
Oh look this still exists.

Okay so, at the point where I left off the previous update, I was thrown off quite a bit by the location where I ended up, Taeas City I think it was called. I walked around a bit, and found this very mysterious looking entrance. Let's see what's inside...


Aw yeah, I can catch a wild [member='LostSpirit'] here? Awesome! [member='karatekid770'] will be so jealous of me!


Well then, that turned out to be a very short exploration mission... Not even any wilds to catch either. Let's just backtrack a bit further, maybe that'll help me find a place to go.


That's a very unhealthy obsession, good sir. Please, you should get yourself checked.


Sweet! You know what's coming...


Yeah, Nintales achieved! Damn, I almost forgot just how much I love that Pokémon ^^


I thought this might be the place to go, but nope, just another girl having something for trade for a Yellow Shard, and I don't have any of those.


Okay I get that one of these "things" is in front of a Gym, but this seems like a very random place to put one...


I went to the Water Cave again, because now that I can use Surf, there's more to explore! And I found this beautiful lady inside, hohoho! Actually, I probably shouldn't hit on other trainers as long as I'm playing as a girl >.>


Damn, I'm glad I went here! Though I'm pretty certain that I need another Gym badge before I can actually use it... In other news, this is the end of the cave, so I've reached yet another dead end .-.


Ah, but this looks like a place that certainly has a lot of potential as a new important area!


Nope, too bad. I could bring this to that Flora girl from earlier though, maybe she'll give me something cool in return... I mean, she could potentially give me a Gracidea Flower for my Shaymin! I forgot to do it immediately, but I might do it after this update (if I think of it (probably not (most definitely not)))


Are you the right cave? The answer is no, this is actually the Scorched Slab. Only difference is that this one is actually empty, no Sunny Day TM to be found here.


This game... It has it's moments.
