Pokémon is getting more and more popular by the year around the world. In Athens, Georgia, last year, in their Pokémon tournament, they had 288 players at their tournament, but this year, they had 344 players! And it doesn't mean just people your age. There were people in the crowd from all around the world, from the age of 6 to senior citizens!
From interviews in the crowd, Mike Le, a TCG enthusiast thinks this is the biggest amount of people seen at a tournament. He's seen a tournament with about 400 people before, but at the rate Athens is going with their TCG tournament, the Classic Center will probably get that many people! Rachael VeerNoy, another fanatic of the Trading Card Game have been tournaments from what looked like warehouses, so this tournament is one of the bigger, and one of the nicer ones. This tournament has been in the making for about 4 years now.
But, have you ever wondered, why trainer cards? Both VeerNoy and Le said, There's tons more to obsess over in the videogame, or the anime, so why trainer cards? Many are 'card-game-aholics' as one might describe them. It's easy to make new friends with cards, and with cards, you never get bored! The Classic Center was glad to host this event, and will host the tournament next year.

That actually reminds me of my first regional VGC tournament in Fort Wayne, IN, where I played against a woman that was 65 years old... I later learned that her son was a world tournament player, so it made sense afterward!
Sadly, she didn't put up much of a fight ;)
