Aura's Pokémon X Nuzlocke Journal

Hey guys, [member='Aura'] here with something a lot different than my usual Pokémon news bombs.

Because Pokémon Sun and Moon hype is eating away at my soul but it's still too far, and sometimes I just can't go outside to play Pokémon GO (as much as I really want to), I've decided to pass the time by doing a Nuzlocke in Pokémon X! This will be my first attempt at a Nuzlocke on an actual cart, so I'm pretty excited! I'll be posting about my adventure in this thread, but you guys can comment too! If there's a Pokémon you know is native to Kalos and you'd like to be nicknamed after it, or you've got a really good nickname for it, pop it in the comments below! There'll be a list in a spoiler underneath this paragraph will all the suggestions, since I'll only be taking one for each Pokémon! Please refrain from giving more than 5 nickname suggestions, thank you.

Alright, Pokémon X Nuzlocke! Let's start... OK, obligatory "Welcome to the World of Pokémon", yada yada yada... Oh, choosing my gender! Let's go with female since they just have so many more outfits and hair styles to choose from! I know you're supposed to save your money for items in a Nuzlocke, but I can't help the need to look fabulous af. As for my name, I think Aura works.

Fletching flies into my room, attacks me, I get out of bed, get changed, talk to Mom and leave. Oh look, it's Calem and Shauna, who introduce themselves and leave, so I follow them. Time to get my Starter Pokémon!

...Wait. I don't know which one to choose! I've played through Kalos so many times that I've used each one at least 3 times, and they're all really good! Ah, I know what to do! I'll get you guys to decide! Vote in the poll above (please don't comment about the starters unless you're suggesting a nickname about them), and I'll choose whichever has the highest amount of votes after 24 hours! Then, I'll continue on my journey!

 

Alright, it's 6 AM so let's do this business!

Counting up all the votes from the poll I ran here and the poll I ran on Instagram, the totals were;

Chespin - 4
Fennekin - 9
Froakie - 8

Which means that Fennekin is my starter! Mine was male, so I named him Torchwick. Hopefully he gets a good nature.

So I got the Pokédex from Trevor and the Letter form Tierno, wiped the floor with Shauna, got some stuff from Mom and NOW WE CAN FINALLY START HOORAY.

My first encounter on Route 2 was a Pidgey, however that's coded into the game so I wouldn't really count it. After Calem teaches me the extremely complex mechanics of a Pokémon capture and gives me his balls (huehue) I head into the grass to find my own first Pokémon to catch. Much like the great Calem himself, I encountered a Lv. 2 Bunnelby, who I nicknamed Lupin (suggested by [member='Almandine-G']). With that out of the way, I beat the only trainer on the Route and head into Santalune Forest.

Pansear. Of all the Pokémon I could encounter in a forest, it had to be a Fire type, especially when I've already got one. Welcome to the team, Hot Memes. Not that I'm gonna use you... I continued through the forest and evened out Torchwick and Lupin to be Lv. 8, so next up was Route 3.

The Pokémon who joined me on Route 3 was a Pikachu, which is a million times better than Hot Memes. He was named Deltheor after our wonderful designer [member='Deltheor'], so let's hope he doesn't die any time soon! After a quick trip to Santalune City's Pokémon Center to deposit Hot Memes and heal up, I went back to Route 3 to train up Deltheor and Lupin, since Torchwick will get enough training in the Santalune Gym.

Next up was Route 22. After doing the required battle, I entered the grass to find my next Pokémon, as was surprised to be greeted by an Azurill. I aptly caught him, naming him Blueberry. After evening out Lupin, Deltheor and Blueberry to Lv. 9, I decided to challenge the Gym.

Stupidly, I entered with only 2 Super Potions, and needed to use one right away after battling a Gym Trainer's Ledyba. Continuing through the Gym, Torchwick didn't have any other problems until we reached the Gym Leader, Viola. Because I knew she'd start with Surskit, I switched Deltheor out to the front, and the battle began. First, it was Quick Attack VS Thundershock, but my super-effective attack kept me in the lead. Then, Viola switched it up with a Bubble, which landed as a CRITICAL HIT, leaving Del on 2 HP. Obviously Del was pissed at that, so he countered with a Thundershock crit, destroying her Surskit. Now, it was time for her Vivillon, which I saved Torchwick for. She started with a Harden while I used Ember, then used Infestation as I Embered again, which locked Torchwick into battle. Seeing that my HP was low, I used my last Super Potion on Torchwick to prevent a death from the Tackle that I predicted. After another Infestation and Ember exchange, Viola healed her Vivillon with a Potion, which I countered with another Ember. But the residual damage from Infestation was taking it's toll, and Torchwick was left on 10 HP. If Vivillon used Tackle, it probably would have been over. Luckily for me and my team, she used Infestation, which nabbed me a 0-kill victory!

After that stressful battle, I headed back to the Pokémon Centre, where I healed my team, and that's where this entry ends for today. Tomorrow, we'll be heading towards our second Gym Badge, meaning there are a possible 10 more Pokémon to add to my roster, and many chances for a death, so stay tuned!

Alright, so I totally slacked on this journal, but I did finish the Nuzlocke. Let me quickly write up all the important points.

• [member='Deltheor'] was my first death, dying somewhere between the first and second gyms.
• I caught many Pokémon between the first and second gyms, but only one of them, Marshall the Zubat from Connecting Cave, was added to my roster. After evolving into a Golbat, he also died before my second gym, making him the second death.
• The next Pokémon to be added to my roster was the Lucario from Shalour City, who I named Abyss.
• By time I reached the fourth gym, I'd decided to add Zen the Squirtle to my team, who was my second starter from Lumiose City.
• I caught a Dugtrio, who I named Terra, in the route after the fourth gym. She died in, and quite ironically, the Lumoise Gym.
• My next capture was a Snover on the Mamoswine-mounting route between the sixth and seventh gyms, who I named Emma.
• The next death occurred in the Anistar Gym, where my newly caught Emma was killed.
• After that, Abyss was killed in the Team Flare HQ.
• The last Pokémon to be added to my team was a Dragonair I caught on the route before Victory Road, who I named Mystic (for some reason...)
• Blueberry the Azumarill died somewhere in Victory Road after I battled my rival.
• All of my Pokémon survived until the final champion battle, where Mystic the Dragonite, Zen the Blastoise, and Torchwick the Delphox were all maliciously murdered by Diantha's Mega Gardevoir. Only [member='❀Bloom❀'] the Roserade managed to survive, making her the sole survivor of my Nuzlocke, not counting the Pokémon I didn't use. (I caught one in every location possible but didn't choose to use all of them)
