Surprisingly, LV doesn't have anything about this yet. So heres the topic! I've watched Last Airbender and recently finished Legend of Korra (season 1). Although my two friends who saw a bit of it said it wasn't worth watching, I gave it a chance, and am glad I watched it. If you plan to watch this, the post has more than enough spoilers in it. Here's a few things I've noticed and such, feel free to express your own opinion.

On the pro side, I saw lots more battling than Last Airbender had. Thats about the only better thing in my opinion, but Last Airbender set the bar really high

    Things I didn't like...
Republic City. Dumbest name they could imagine... I'm fine with what it is as a city, but the name is horrible
Cars. 60-70 years ago, they barely had hot air balloons. Suddenly, they're mass producing cars everywhere, then megatanks, airplanes... I understand there had to be something to fight benders, but it still just doesn't seem right. Thats way too advanced for their time period.
Less humor. Last Airbender was hilarious, and again it set the bar high. Legend of Korra was still lacking in the humor, more than it should have.
Small children farting on equalists heads. Immaturity is fine when kept to penguin sliding, but this was just too far...

Not really good or bad, but the ending of the season there just got really deep. Main characters are always in danger, losing their bending, including small children and stuff. It got kind of crazy, but then Tarloch, knowing he and Noatoch will become bad again, commits suicide to do the world a favor. That seemed way beyond a kid's show. Not saying it was bad, but that really stood out to me.

So again, please give your input if you've watched this, and if you haven't, I still reccommend it.

It was disappointing compared to the first one, and the series was a lot darker, but I actually found it humourous in a different way than the first one.

You obviously can't compare it to the First avatar because that one was fully planed out, and nick put so much effort into it!

But I really enjoyed The legend of Korra, I enjoyed watching how the world has evolved, how it as grown and advanced from the first series! I know its kinda weird to see cars and stuff but come on its a cartoon you can't expect it to be too realistic! besides in The last air bender they had trains, tanks, submarines just that powered by benders! Actually I'm really looking forward on watching Korra book 2 Spirits, to see Korra explore the spirit world after that in book one she absolutely did nothing with her spiritual side compared to Aang you meditate like every day and stuff! I think this series is gonna get A LOT better!

It's in a steampunk era. Technology advances a great deal in 60-70 years. And, please take into consideration... This is a show with people who can shoot fire out of their hands. It just bothers me so much that people complain about how unrealistic things like this are when the premise of the show is obviously fictional. It's unrealistic in our world, sure - but this isn't our world. It's an entirely different one with a whole different set of laws. And again - people who can shoot fire and lightning out of their hands.
I'm not sure if you remember or not, but they were beyond hot airballoons. They had an enormous drilling tank on wheels, submarines, and miniature tanks. The technology is accurate, and even more so taking into consideration that this is clearly stumpunk orientated.

I really loved it. People really need to stop comparing it to The Last Airbender. It's a new show, and while ATLA was great, I think it's time to look at Korra as that. If you watch it with the intent of comparing it to ATLA, you won't like it. Korra's only on Season 1 as well, so it's not much to judge yet.

I like the characters and general idea of the series, the premiere was great, and the show had great potential- I just think it could have been done a lot better. The show focused way too much on awkward love triangles and less on character development and world-building, and the plot suffered because of it in my eyes.

I did really love the city and the characters, though, especially Asami, Tenzin, and Lin; and the action was just as fantastic as AtLA. I hope the second season goes more into the characters, and it will be interesting as to how they introduce the Spirit World into the mix.

I won't go into too much detail here because spoilers, but I guess that pretty much sums up my feelings for LoK in general: great potential, bad execution.

    Spoiler-filled views here:
-The antagonist. The conflict between the benders and non-benders was a great idea, but I wish that Amon was written as a better character. I think that having him be a waterbender kind of ruined the 'secretive' aspect of his character, and it would have been great if he actually was a spirit/got his energybending powers from a spirit, or something else like that. I can understand having him be a bender would be a shock to the characters, but I just feel his character as a whole could have been written a whole lot better.

-Love triangles. Enough said. ...well, I may be a bit biased against love triangles, but they can work when written right- this just wasn't one of those cases. The romance in this season in general seemed forced, and I especially hated the idea of Mako leaving Asami for Korra at the end. If the two really connected as characters, I would have believed it more. Heck, even Bolin would have made a better match for Korra from what was shown in the 1st season. The two seem to have fun together, and a relationship between those two would make a lot more sense. I hope they go more into Korra and Mako's characters in the second season, because right now, I don't like their relationship one bit.

-The ending. I finished the 1st season of LoK feeling honestly disappointed. There was so much potential in having some people in the main cast lose their bending (or most of their bending, in the case of Korra), and that was sadly ruined by Korra spontaneously getting her bending back through the help of Aang, and then healing everyone else. If the season ended with everyone having to learn to live without bending, that would have made the ending a lot more interesting. It also would have led into the second season with more exploration of the bender/non-bender conflict, which would have been interesting to go into.

Overall, the series was alright, I just have a lot of nitpicks about it that really hold it back in my eyes. I have hopes for the second season- I just hope that they resolve many of the conflicts the first season left behind.

I was actually really impressed with The Legend of Korra. I was paranoid that it wouldn't live up to The Last Airbender, but it did. They brought new ideas and characters to the table really nicely. As Thepumkin said, you can't really compare it to Aang, seeing as that series was all planned out.

As for the bit about cars and such, I wasn't surprised to see them brought in. Seeing as the Fire Nation was pretty much dictating and keeping all the other nations weak in the first Avatar, they weren't able to develop such technology. As Satix brought up, they were advanced in ATLA. They had drills, submarines, etc.

I've found the series humorous. It's different from the humor in the Airbender, but it's still there. I think it'd be boring if the humor was the same. I really liked how they jumped right into the action with Korra. The big issues of the series were brought up right off the bat. While with ATLA, they seemed to dote about before the real issues were brought up.

I love both series, and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the Legend of Korra :)

I've seen it, and for the first couple of episodes I preferred The Legend of Korra over The Last Airbender, but when it came to the episodes full of absolutely nothing but romance, I started leaning towards The Last Airbender. However, that's not to say I didn't like The Legend of Korra. I agree that having that futuristic robot in a world that had just gotten cars was a little odd, but it didn't take away that much, and I actually liked the fact that the characters were always in danger. It made the show more exciting for me.

I haven't seen the show yet >.>; But I keep seeing the DVD for sale, at work. So I wondered what people thought about it. From the sound of it, the show seems pretty decent to watch. I haven't watched Avatar so I wouldn't be able to really compare XD (which may be a good thing) Maybe I should give this show a shot!

I like The Legend of Korra. Its honestly not that bad, its just that it feels darker, and not as light-hearted as The Last Airbender. Other than that, though (and the overromantic parts, if that's even a word xD), it seems like a pretty darn good sequel.

@Satix, Vanillite, they shoot fire with their hands, yes. But they have no electricity, motors run on gas or anything, nothing of that sort. Hot air balloons were advanced, shooting hot air in a flying sack. The fire nation was restricting them in any way they could, but creating cars and everything run on gas power without any bending is just too advanced for 60-70 years. Not to mention the chances of their car designs looking exactly like ours...

@Deltheor, shadow blaze, I completely forgot to mention that but its so true. The love triangle got so annoying, and that kept showing up through so much of the season. They made Mako appear to be a complete idiot, not realizing the obvious fact that hitting on Korra might piss off the girl who's father turned out to be an equalist. He appeared so clueless throughout the season, and it pissed me off that they made him appear so stupid.

The Legend of Korra was a sort of hit or miss, because of the great following Avatar: The last Airbender. Most people liked it, but others don't. I'm still on the fence deciding which side to jump into.

Right now I'm just glad they've finally released a season two air date. We've been expecting one all summer... For a while a lot of people seemed to expect it to air in March. Wow.

Anyways, the confirmed date is September 2013, so pretty soon.

Here's the trailer I found in the "most popular" section of YouTube a couple weeks ago:
Yes. It was posted by Nickelodeon, so it's not fan-made or anything.

I've actually been waiting for it, and have been tracking the information. I'm glad there's finally some solid evidence of when it will be coming out. Besides, in that trailer there are a lot of mythological looking monsters, which I personally, can't wait for.

That's because they originally intended for it to only be one season. Then the show rose to be the most popular animated series of 2012, so they started a second season.

I'm kind of scared to see what happens, usually when a show/movie continues because of popularity, its not good. Sequels to some great movies like Shrek absolutely sucked, and I hope it doesn't happen with Korra. At least she still has to master airbending and the spirit world, so they have something to build off of.

Yeah I know, and they did do a pretty good job with it. Nothing like movies where a stranger walks in the sequel and just starts blowing everything up or stuff like that, they had the whole avatar chain and a new age coming. I still miss Sokka though
