Barry Vs Silver

I have to go with Silver for nostalgia reasons. I just do.

 

I can't stand Barry's attitude, while I really like Silver's mysterious-ness and his battle music. And I really like how in the end he looks like he wants to make up for everything he's done and isn't as much as a d**k as Blue was.

 

don't even know Barry, and no one can top Silver in awesome.

 

Prefer Silver. Never had homosexual thoughts before I met him. (That's a joke I'm not gay lol)

 

Definetly Silver. He's cool, and he realizes his mistakes in the end. Barry... I just can't take him seriously.

 

hate barry . . . . He is probably one of the main reasons I hate the Sinnoh region!

And Jhoto is one of my favorites!

 

I love them both, but Silver is just so much sexier cooler. Plus he has a Sneasel.

 

Hmm... I dunno, both? But I picked Silver in the poll. Silver is a great character, his character development is clearly shown throughout the game, and he's got a cool battle music too but I hate it when he calls you a weakling even though you beat him every time he challenges you.

 

I like Silver a million times more than Barry. For some reason I thought he was just fun to try and mess with in the beginning of the game.
"GO AWAY! D<" *throws you aside. But then does it again.*

Plus I like his Pokémon team and all of the theories people come up about him. Like him being, possibly, Giovanni's son. Which I find really interesting for some reason. His personality is rather different compared to every rival you've ever had in a game. (He's a lot more of a jerk than Gary/Blue was.)

Am I the only one that thinks barry is funny. Dont get me wrong I do love Silver with his attitude and his whole story, but barry has a bff attitude you know like someone whos crazy and and a fun person to hang around with. I'm 50/50 but ill go with barry hehe.

 

Nah, I don't think you're the only one that does. I know a lot of people, actually, that prefer him over Silver.. c:

Noooooooo! Not sexy! I remember playing silver and saw his silly hair for the first time XD Silver sounded so cruel in the beginning of the games. I didn't really like him at all. But I don't like Barry either xD I guess I can't vote

 

I'd have to go with Barry. Though he was kind of annoying, I liked his design. I also thought he had a better team than Silver. I struggled with Barry sometimes post-game, when you could challenge him every weekend.

 

I like Silver better, it was cool to see him grow as a trainer and finally learn to love Pokémon at the end.

 

When I first replied to this thread I hadn't played any of the games taking place in Sinnoh. Now that I have...my vote is still the same, however I have more of a reason for keeping it that way. Barry is an annoying little shit who appears to suffer from ADHD. Silver is way cooler.

 

I would have to go with Silver,not for nostalgia but just because his overall personality and backstory is what you look for in a rival.
Blue was a stuck up brat who wasnt even that great of a trainer until he matured. May/Brenden were a laugh. and Barrys annoying caps rages on screen just made me want to jump into the game and slap him. Silver on the other hand stole his starter Pokémon,has no friends, hates team rocket and weak Pokémon and trainers and his Dad is Giovanni...cant get any better than that

 

Not choosing Barry due to the fact that he wears orange. Totally not.
I rather favor him due to the fact that I always have a thing for characters that are little shits and practically exist to annoy you. Also, he is my spirit trainer ahaha is that even a thing. They're not as common, and well, they're interesting. In my opinion, they are the most eye-catching characters and always are among my favorites.
He's not my favorite trainer character but he certainly has a good spot among main top 5.

Silver, on the other hand... Hmm, can't really say I care all that much. I like the design, and he's pretty cool, but the typical mysterious 'hotties' don't catch my eye. Ever. I will never favor a character such as that over others unless they'll have extremely interesting character development. Why? Well, they're always the same. It's the same old story. Mysterious good looking guy seems bad 'n sad then realizes mistakes turns good boom bam fireworks what's that family/ organizations/ you name it are important bad people boom bam plot twist who would've thought? Now watch the misunderstood miserable character have all the fans crushing at them and eventually the character is nothing more but object of everyone's sympathy despite knowing a thing or two about them or their origin. Been there seen that. Every single time.
As a character Silver is good, I never disliked him throughout the gameplays or anything. He was there, okay, that's cool. But yeah, just, not my cup of tea, simple as that.

 

Silver. He was the last jerk rival we had. Barry wasn't a jerk. He wasn't that rival that you really wanted to beat. Silver was. He taunted you and tried to make you look bad. All Barry did was run around threatening to fine you. Silver was a jerk who I always got excited to beat, while Barry was just that one annoying guy threatening to charge me a million dollars for being late.

 

Silver. I can't stand Barry. He's just such an amatuer, and I can't stand his over-energetic character. He thinks he's so great, and then when you stomp him, he gets all shocked. Silver isn't my cup of tea either, but he's better than "I'M SUING YOU FOR BEING LAAAAATE!"
