For some people, being on time to different events is super hard. I'm sure you either know somebody or are somebody who just can't seem to get anywhere punctually! I've always been good at getting places on time. My parents always made sure of that, and it's a habit I continued. For those who are punctual, what do you do to keep being on time? What helps you? For those who run late, what keeps you from being on time? What do you think could help you be more timely?
I think it all depends. When I was going to school or to see a show or something like that, I will always be early rather than on time or late. Those are the events where it really matters that people are punctual. For other things, like social gatherings, I'm usually either right on time or a little late. I think the biggest problem with my punctuality is that I have a big family. It had to have been hard for my mom to get ten kids ready to go and in the car. Even now, with less kids around and two of them around who can drive too, the habit is hard to break.
I am always at least half an hour early to anything I go to. Why, because I like being ready for the event and I often like the quiet and silence of the room when coming in early. Also, I keep track of the time at all points of the day no matter what I'm doing. Though sometimes I get a little carried away and come in an hour or more before an event.
I'm always very early. Would get to class 20-30 minutes early and am usually at work by 8.30AM or so vs the 9AM opening time. Just a habit of mine to be punctual... I didn't want to come right on time in school too, given that most people were already there by start of class, since they'd briefly look at me haha. Coming in late (especially if the professor already shut the door) was the most awkward thing. I was that type of shy, anxious person. Can probably leave a bit later for work to get in more around 8.50AM but it always ends up with me being there by 8.30, sometimes 8.20AM. 9.05 is already too late by my standards. Yet another co-worker comes in all the time around 9.10-9.20AM. =s lol
I usually always show up early to something, except when it comes to classes, and all the stoplights seem to be conspiring against me. Seriously, once I had what was supposed to be a 15 minute drive turn into a 30 minute one because of all the red lights. What even is that?
I try to be on time but sometimes, or rather often especially if is something important I'm going to it seems like something is out to try and stop or slow me down. Everything from sickness to traffic jams to accidents seems to happen whenever I need to go to something that's truly important. Not counting school since I was often just bad at getting off my butt back then to be there on time.
For me to be on time, its setting firm deadlines and sticking to them. Get up, get ready, and leave by a certain time. It also helps to build in plenty of extra time just in case you encounter a set back. To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is to be fired.
I think it depends on how I'm traveling. I often get places early when I'm taking public transportation, because I overcompensate for possible setbacks. However, I'm usually right on time or, like, two minutes late when I walk. I'm also a person of habit; for example, I'll always leave for school at 7.35, even if I do end up getting there thirty minutes early, and I'll always leave for piano at 5.30, even though that means I'm cutting it very fine.
As Marching Band has taught me, Early is on time, On Time is Late, and Late is you're dead (figuratively).
I usually just pace around constantly, trying to find ways to get ready even if I've already been ready for the past half hour or so. Then I leave like 15 minutes earlier than I probably need to. I hate being late to anything.
I like being early. I’m always on time, assuming there’s nothing in the way. Sadly, my school bus is always late, which is something I can’t actually control. Either way, I still try to be as early as possible, like taking the stairs instead of the lift(which takes forever) if I know I’m going to be late.
