Y'all most probably guessed what inspired this thread. So what in your opinion is the best, almost spot on movie adaptation of a book and which one is just a complete disappointment?
Eragon has one of the worst movie adaptations known. It's bad enough that a lot of people like to believe that it doesn't exist
The Hobbit trilogy of movies were horrendously bloated and literally took the shortest of all of the LotR books and stretched it into an unnecessarily long slog. I will say the first movie was pretty good, the second started to slip, and I lost interest completely by the third. Also, don't give one of the random dwarves a romantic relationship out of nowhere, especially someone like Kili. Anyone who read the book knows why.
The How to Train Your Dragon Movies were excellent, almost without dispute. However, reading the actual book it was based on revealed that the movie didn't follow it very well. So yeah, the movie was great, but it honestly is more like a fanfic of the book. (using the characters and world, but not most of the plot)
It's been some time since I've seen it, but Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. My friends made me read it in middle school and the movie came out around that time. With the book fresh in my mind, I got mad at all the inconsistencies in the movie. The entire second half of the movie didn't even happen in the book.
