Which game do you think had the best storyline? For me Black and White 2 takes it. I don't care what people say man, I really didn't like the Red/Blue/Yellow plot.

Black 2 and White 2 was great but I also liked Emerald's due to the two different evil organizations.

I have to agree with you there about BW/BW2, the story felt well put together and the villains had more of a presence than the other ones I have played, where they just seemed to be either bad guys for the sake of bad guys and were just like a side-quest, or totally cartoonish style villains with "muhahaha nasty plot!". I haven't played through Gen 4 so maybe the villains there were well developed, but I didn't find it to be the case really with Gen 1, 2, and 3. I know I'm focusing on villains a lot with this post, but really when it comes to a storyline, there has to be a conflict. Besides the presence of villains the story of a Pokémon game is basically "beat these gym leaders and become the best while collecting and seeing as many Pokémon as you can." Which is fine for a game concept but shallow as a story.

In Gen 5 they really played around with the idea of a cult-like following and addressed the issue of Pokémon being animal slaves. It was a nice direction. The fact that the game has a direct sequel says something about the strength of the story.

My favorite is definitely BW. BW2 has a good follow up story but the whole plot began with BW. The introduction of more characters like N, cheren, Bianca, and a new organization with more leaders (ghetsis) and the shadow triad and such, it made a great story ^^

BW really had a great plot with Team Plasma trying to save Pokémon, and the whole backstory with N was a nice addition.
Honestly I felt like BW2 didn't really have much of a plot. The concept of the fusion with Kyurem was cool, but I felt the actual storyline was short-lived and not very deep. They could've done a lot more, imo.

BW/BW2 definitely, but BW has the better storyline. BW2 seems kinda rushed and I didn't like the ending very much. The post-game story is great, though.

Ironic that Team Plasma uses Pokémon to free Pokémon. B/W is the best plot. B2/W2 is just a gimmick game for me.

5th gen in general. Well developed characters, back stories, you were put in real danger, rival the in BW 2 meant something and contributed heavily to the story opposed to them competing with you like in every other game and it was satisfying to complete. Just a great job by Nintendo and Game Freak.

Also, the Team Plasma battle theme is awesome xD

Oooh I didn't read much of that since I'm avoiding Black and White 2 spoilers, but since I'm assuming it builds on Team Plasma, and the whole ideals versus truths things was crazy awesome, I can see why people would like it. I've only finished the first B&W games and Explorers of Time and Blue Rescue team, so I don't really have much of a pool to pull from, but Black and White is definitely my favourite so far!

I like the 5th gen storyline. I think it has more than just to get all the gym badges and that.

And i really like the Pokémon mystery dungeon stories. Especially the Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky

Mystery Dungeon definitely has the best storylines of all Pokémon games, they are after all worked on quite heavily in the development in these games.

Though the storyline in R/S/E wasn't too deep I liked how there were two opposite teams instead of one. They also seemed to be doing something rather than taking over the world, Aqua wanted to make more sea for Water Pokémon (even though there's already a crap load of it) and Magma wanted more land for fire Pokémon. It made them seem less evil, even though their plans were completely retarded it was still a cool concept, different from the other games. I hope they expand on it when/if they remake R/S/E.

BW/BW2 Storyline was amazing. I replayed Black so many times because I loved the storyline so much, it's my favorite. I replay Platinum a lot too, more than any other game. Though BW's storyline is the best, I still like Platinum's storyline and replay that game the most.

I just LOVED the story of BW. White was the only version that made me stay up late because I just needed to know how the story would go on. It just had an overall more mature feeling to it, with the issues it addressed, older looking main characters, other well developed characters ... and that epic credits song!

Honestly, I was a tiny bit disappointed in BW2 because their story doesn't seem as well thought up as the prequel. Still, good games :> (and the fact that you can catch Pokémon from older generations makes up for that haha)

I've got high hopes for X & Y. I really hope they will have the best storyline which beats B/W 2!

I think... Pokémon Red/yellow/blue have the best story line evar!

    Actually, in truth.
I really liked the idea of Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald. Despite a lot of awesome things going on in Generation 5... The third generation seems to have struck me more. I just like the idea that two Pokémon could do so much to the world. Kyogre gets mad. You have Tentacruels in your yard. Groudon gets mad, and you have Sandslash sun bathing on your front lawn. As for Rayquaza, just leave him alone in his tower thing. >> No need to mess with him.

I know Black and white have a similar thing going on with that dragon dude... but I just like Gen 3 story the best.

Man, I hate the story for Generation 1. Seems so basic and out of place.

It does but I can understand why. The storyline there is just to create an environment for what the game was really about, which was catching all the Pokémon and beating the elite 4. The first time the concept is introduced, things outside of it like villains and a plot really take second place.

Though i wasnt the biggest fan of 5th gen i do agree that B2/w2 had the best storyline. It had well developed characters and villains great plot twists and wasnt as predictable or boring as all of the other storylines.
