When we don't have our iPhones, mp3 players, or etc., we would go to Youtube or some other music/lyric video to listen to music. But then, we discovered some people had made remix versions of our songs called Nightcore or Chipmunk.

For example: Angel of Darkness by Alex C.

    Original

    Nightcore

What do you guys think about these remixes?

For me, there are some songs that I like in the nightcore remix like Angel of Darkness by Alex C. & See Who I Am by Within Temptations. But, there are still some songs with nightcore remix makes it... unmatched to the beat. :/

I tend to avoid Nightcore videos at all because all I heard was high-pitched versions of existing songs with abusive pictures of scantly-dressed anime females. Not my cup of tea.

I generally don't listen to nightcore because is just pitched up and often sound worse than the originals than the originals to me.

I listen to nightcore quite often, and I have found the most ironic nightcore song
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNgI1cQLhW0

If going by nightcorers I listen to, they are ULmadMS (ULmadM5 due to copyright issues) and CUTLoveRx. I obviously also listen to other nightcorers' "songs", including the actual Nightcore group (yes it's not only a genre/remixing style).

I'd say that my favorite Nightcore song is
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxEBOILsYFY

    while from actual Nightcore songs
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRVVPSr3HSA
    is my favorite

I'm not really into nightcore for reasons explained in the posts above. I'm not really experiment-y when it comes to my choice of music, so I tend to stay with my original plan.

I agree with the majority of people above. I don't care for Nightcore. I think it makes the songs sound worse.

I don't think I'm getting the full intended effect here. Is it anything beyond putting the audio track through a 1.2x speed (tempo + pitch) conversion? It seems like less-annoying chipmunk-ification, but here I am wishing that back when I had cassette tapes, I could have put an awesome name like this on the fast-forward results.

I don't know. In the top example, I find myself liking the original in every way. Smoother, more dance-able tempo, very clear pitch, lack of unintended audio distortion. Maybe if there was something more added to the nightcore, like a simple drum beat to match the new tempo, I'd like it more. As it stands, though, for me it's not similar enough to be comfortably the same and not different enough to be a remix.

I'm not a fan of Nightcore (and by extension, Nightstep) for the reasons stated above. Sped up songs are way too hard to follow.
