In case you didn't know (in which case now you do), Borderlands 3 was officially announced a few days ago with an artsy promo trailer and a gameplay trailer, and so far, I gotta say I'm very pleased! Take a look at these videos below: (forgive me if either of these videos are redundant, It's nearly impossible for me to load these at my home computer to check these specific urls) So far the game looks very formulaic Borderlands to me: four daring badasses are trying to save the world from some very confident and scifi-stylish (if not incredibly edgelordy) villains. And so far... that's all I know! Four heroes, a teragigamegabazillion guns, and probably a whole lot of incredible writing and humor. As far as I know, there's not much new in this game compared to 2 or Pre-Sequel, but why fix what isn't broken? Oh, and it appears based on these trailers that Borderlands 3 takes place after Tales From The Borderlands, which affected the story/world a lot, so if you're into fully enjoying the big-picture plot of the series, I highly recommend you check that out (at least watch a gameplay video of that full game), but no doubt it will be perfectly enjoyable as a game entirely on its own. Do you have any hopes for the series, or big ideas puzzled out of the trailers? Returning characters or plot directions or new gameplay styles to be made more available? I'm mostly just hoping that we get a lot more Zer0, and Tiny Tina as a playable character in DLC (I could see her getting boosts to grenades and Torgue/Tediore weapons to start, expanding from there with low-HP berserking perhaps). And do I see (no identity spoiler) your mysterious captor from Tales as a playable character? If so, that's probably my first pick! Now Borderlands 3! Ready for an adventure! We are Badasses!
You forgot to mention the best part! Guns with legs! Seriously though, I can't wait! It's a real shame that we don't have a release date yet, though.
Honestly, this is probably my favorite part of the trailer, and I'll be very sad if this is a class specific weapon (If it is tho, they'll be my main without exception). Besides that, I've always loved borderlands for their amazing humor and great gameplay, so I'm hyped for the new game.
...did I see a grown-up Tiny Tina in that trailer? I think I did. She'd better be playable. She was easily the best part of the second game. I want playable Tiny Tina. That this takes place after Tales from the Borderlands pleases me immensely as well because, whilst I don't really care for the narrative of the series - giving the original Vault Hunters "personality" was the WORST thing the second game did, by far - it means I don't have to put up with the most infuriatingly annoying character in the franchise, since the game killed him off. With all that said, I am absolutely fine with more of the same; I don't play many games like this and I'm not burned out quite yet...well, I didn't much care for Pre-Sequel's awkward gameplay, but I'd consider that more of a bad spinoff than a proper instalment. More like the first two games is fine. If I had to ask for anything though, I'd say less narrative and more humour. The "story" of Borderlands 2 was diabolical, even if the dialogue was extremely entertaining. If they do more DLC, I want to see more like The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned and Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, and less like every other DLC expansion the games had. Either way, I'm looking forward to it, and I will absolutely be getting it.
Where do you see Tiny Tina? I want to play as her so badly too, but I don't think I saw her at all. That's my little sister, she better be invited back! Here's who I do see as playable characters: - Your mysterious captor from Tales From The Borderlands. He (?) could easily have any playstyle, but I expect he'll be a precision-based character, probably getting skills that synergize well with Hyperion-type weapons. - The absolutely effing ripped Siren who will probably get some insane boosts to melee damage and I don't know what else. Those Siren-energy arms look terrifying. Also: having multiple blue arms: do I see a thematic similarity here to Shiva the Destroyer? - An older gentleman who looks like he may very well be an old friend of Sir Hammerlock. I could see him being a big-game hunter using Sniper Rifles and Shotguns together (which would be learnable to a Zer0 main like me). - A shorter badass with a helmet who seems to like assault rifles, but the helmet and overall visual aesthetic makes me think of explosives. I don't think this is Tina though, Tina has distinctive eyes and I feel like they would show her off more.
2: 36 in the announcement trailer, the girl dancing around with Brick and Mordecai before it cuts to Ellie. Definitely looks like her to me!
