("Boxing Legendary Pokémon" as in putting them in Boxes, not having them fight in boxing games XD)

Most people base their decision of what game they're going to get based on the version-exclusive Pokémon in the games. A very large part of that decision is based on what Legendary Pokémon in the game.
Only... what happens after you've caught the Legendary Pokémon? Do you put them into Boxes or do you actually keep them around in your team? Are you a fan of putting Legendary Pokémon into boxes in general?

when it comes to uber legendaries (or at least mascot legendaries) i almost always just box them because they'll feel broken, but with legendaries that aren't overpowered like members of the kami trio i'll probably take note of them and maybe use them competitively, and even sometimes on in-game teams.

This has always been one of the more ironic things in Pokémon. You catch a super powerful Pokémon that will easily help you on your journey, only to put it away in a storage container, and never use it again. Of course, if we were actually irl trainers, I'm sure most of us would be using the powerful legendaries, because we wouldn't give a crud if we were too powerful.

I box them too.. I don't use legends in the games since they're already easy enough for a veteran player, otherwise it would become too much of a cakewalk. They will sit in my box and gather dust because I'm the main character and I'm allowed. =p lol

If I have a super hard time against the E4 I might consider using a legendary but that was mostly years ago, nowadays I never have problems. It really is tempting to keep some of my favorite legends (like Ho-Oh or Victini) around for a little though!

Depends on a number of factors, such as the OP-ness of the legendary and how much I like them or not. Like, I wouldn't walk around the region with an Arceus in my team, but I'd always bring my main man Registeel. He's not OP, has an awesome design, good typing, yada yada yada.

I would also like to keep Darkrai around at all times, but I've never owned one until recently. But yeah, I'd always keep him around...y'know...except when I'm sleeping....

Most other legends go to the box.

Kinda makes me a bad person, doesn't it? I mean, if I'm going to pull the very forces of nature from the environment, shouldn't I do something with them? Oh well...

Now that I think about it... I never really use the mascot legendaries. I just put them in the box right after using it like, once.

Well, except back when I was new to the series, but not anymore because a team of different Pokémon that I caught and raised throughout my journey feels like it has a more personal impact, y'know? And it makes the game much more fun.

If I depend on mascot legendaries too much then the game wouldn't be as fun since you can power through the League with it and just your starter.

I mostly use legendaries out in the field.
Having them in the box I think, tarnishes their awesomeness.

And why catch something so formidable if you
aren't going to use it later?

    that's pointless.

I keep most of them in my box, feels kind of cheap using Groudon or Dialga on a team I already established. I'm okay with using Latias/Latios (I use Latios on Omega Ruby) and one of the smaller/weaker legendaries because I feel like it doesn't give me much of an advantage.

For me, Putting a strong, powerful Pokémon in the storage system is quite rare, I only capture legends that I intend on using in the game, (if im not legend/shiny hunting)It never did cross my mind of how "oh this is gona be too OP to use maingame" because i prefer to be over - leveled if im just doing a clean run through of the game, that being said I do still have legendary Pokémon stored in my box for several reasons.

My choice of whether or not to Store an all powerful Pokémon which isnt limited to just legendary Pokémon, is Heavily influenced by whether or not im challenging my self to not be overpowered in the game for example:

I will always use my dialga/Palkia VS Cynthia
Yes, im one of those people who run through the game and Absolutely despises grinding, so I take my legendary Pokémon into battle against the Sinnoh E4

However if i have 2 legendaries in my team, I store 1, because in cases of ORAS or XY you have access to multiple if not, all legendaries available for capture, And not to mention a forced capture Over - powered legendary we all know as Rayquaza and his ever so powerful Mega form.

But sometimes just for the fun of it ill have a team of 6 legendaries and go fight the E4, just to make myself feel powerful.

And other times ill restart the game with the aim to not use any legendary pokemons.

The irony of having caught the Pokémon of extreme power said to have Controlled land/sea time/space Death/life, stored, as mere data in a computer under the management of a 10 year old child.

I generally don't use them because by the time you can get them I often already have a full team. Minus in ORAS where you get Latias/os practically thrown in the face. I still boxed it tho since I didn't felt like using it.

There are some legendaries that I put in the storage box. Some of the Pokémon that I don't put in storage are Reshiram and Xerneas since I tend to use them from time to time. :P But battle wise, I don't use the legendary Pokémon at all.

I stick mine in the box as a collection of sorts. Though, I do bust them out for fun legendary battles and I have EV trained some of them like my Keldeo and Moltres. For the most part though, yeah, they stay in the PC.
