It might just be me, but every time I look at OU tier, I am constantly seeing these spindly stick-figure like Pokémon getting enlisted into the tier while bulky designs like Mamoswine, Conkeldurr and Mandibuzz are booted out. This kind of bothers me because, I'm going to be honest, I really don't like skinny designs. When I play, the Pokémon I tend to use always happen to be beefy, rotund, or just overall dense in design. "Skinny" just reads "weak/relies purely on speed/can't take a hit" to me, even if the Pokémon is none of those things. Yet it feels like these kind of designs are uncommon in OU. And even when there is a design that isn't a skinny creature, it's a shield with eyes: for example Aegislash, Ferrathorn, or other similar designs.

What I'm kind of hoping for is some proof that they are out there, and I know they are, but what are some OU viable Pokémon that are actually big, bulky looking, dense in design, but besides Venusaur and Gengar, I'm having a hard time finding them. Deep down, I actually kind of want to make a team using the best bulky looking Pokémon in the game, and I'm wondering if people have any suggestions.

OOC: Sorry about the flighty post. I kind of typed this up in a hurry.

Well, every Pokémon needs it's chance to shine. ^_^ The way I see it, as you see in many RPG or even games like MOBAs [or any game with a Fantasy element to it] is that usually, the cute dark mages are OP as crap. Lets look at Veigar from League of Legends or Vivi from Final Fantasy, they are both tiny but will pack a huge whaloop since they are mages. But then your beefy Pokémon that you use is like the Tanks of your team. Or huge Physical Attackers who kinda do fit the role they are filling in.

Tis a thing that a lot of JRPGs tend to follow.~ And it teaches you a valuable lesson as well: things may not always look like what they seem.

(Look at Failord for example, that thing is huge and it sucks tremendously.)

But does anyone have examples? That's what I want to know.

'Beefy' Pokémon don't matter really. What I see mattering is its stats.if you don't like the design, don't look at it. Spindly also means fast, agile, accurate, clever. if sometyhign isn't born the way it would've liked, it adapts around that. these Pokémon do just that. making themselves big threats.

You realise that any Pokémon can be viable in OU if used right, but if you are looking specifically OU tier, then Clefable and Sableye would probably be two other options. Sableye is a 'skinny' Pokémon that can tank like crazy and Clefable is a tank. Also, Evolite Chansey, 'nuff said.

(Tiering is BS. Almost everything can have a use, people just aren't creative enough or different enough to think about them.)

Cleffable, unfortunately, is about as good as it gets. ...Except maybe regular Slowbro.

Beefy looking Pokémon that are viable in OU? (also, Conk is still OU, AV conk is a super tank still and can actually check a good amount of the meta)

There's a bunch of those imo, tho our definition of beefy might be different.

Off the top of my head: Mega Venusaur, Dragonite, Clef, heatran, meta/megagross, kyurem-B, hippo, slowbro, Ferro, t-tar, and you could probably say M-Altaria looks pretty dense/fat.

UU/BL threats that are viable in OU include mamo, gatr, terak, and nidoqueen.

    Venusaur: ...Okay.
Dragonite: ...He's sort of bulky looking, but...
    Clefable: ...Okay.
Heatran: No legendaries please. Also, he hardly looks all that bulky, he's just a quadruped.
Metagross: He kind of falls under the "inanimate objects with no personality" category. Also, he looks more clunky than beefy.
    Kyurem: Legendary.
    Hippowdon: Skinniest hippo ever, lol.
    Slowbro: ...Okay.
    Ferrothorn: Same as Metagross.
    Alteria: Fluffy =/= Bulky.

Wait, why no legendaires? I never understood that point of view. Legendaires aren't really broken or special imo, especially the majority of the ones not in Ubers. If you enjoy handicapping yourself or are too hipster to use them, that's your call, but the rest of the world seems fine with using Lando-T + Heatran squads.

Mandibuzz and Mamoswine, while no longer OU, are still OU viable. They just kinda fell out of favor.

Azumaril is a pretty fat rabbit, and it's currently one of the best Pokémon in OU right now. That Huge Power ability doesnt play games.

Diggersby is on the same boat as well, though not as used as Azu.

Tyranitar is a monster both competitively and aesthetically-

Mega Heracross is bulky, and insanely strong, though it fell out of favor some time ago.

Volcarona is probably the fattest bug around, and still very good in OU.

Mega Swampert is still decent and fits on Rain Teams, and he's very much been lifting, bro. Speaking of Rain Teams...

Politoed! Though not as dominant as in 5th gen, it still has an undeniably good niche in OU.

Reuniclus is quite underrated nowadays, and is a premier Trick Room setter.

    Chansey. Need I say more?

Dont worry, plenty of bulky-looking Pokémon are still quite OU viable.
