@ChocoChicken you should roll since that would be more fair Perhaps I should investigate. Farrah thought. What if it had something to do with him? That can't be. He's already gone, but it's worth a shot. "What kind of help do you specifically need?" The elf asked with a rather blank expression.
@Fchicken77 (Your roll is 12. Adding 1 from Wis made that 13. I'll say you heard everything from the point you first posted you were listening, plus the post before that.) "There's a bit of a raid going on at my village, and the people are struggling to defend themselves," the knight responded, raising their brow. "You interested in coming?
Farrah thought for a bit. She would do it, but she must know more about the enemy first. After all, charging into battle blindly would be suicide. The elf finally started to speak. "I am willing to partake in this, however, I need more information on the enemy, as well as the village's location. I would also like to know what you would give me in return.".
@Fchicken77 The knight thought for a moment. "Well, it's mostly weaker enemies - goblins, kobolds, the like. However, they seem to be under the guidance of a leader - they're attacking in small groups and with formations. As for my village, it's a short journey to the south of this place. On the question on what I'll give you in return, that will be up for our town leaders to decide."
Her interest captured, Eska leaned in, finally making her presence known in the conversation with the old lady. "So their alignments are being controlled by stronger beings? What do you mean by that?" Being born on the Plane of Fire, she remembered the efreeti parading their slaves through the City of Brass, the lesser minions that scurried at their feet. Maybe not all monsters are monstrous after all?
"Hold up, what exactly has taken over your temple? It's clear that you two are looking for help to rescue you compatriots, but you can't really expect anyone to help you two without knowing what threat will come their way." Eleran brought up, not liking the fact that these two have yet to talk about the dangers of such rescue mission.
@enderpearl "It's as simple as it sounds. Some monsters are stronger than others, and thus use the weaker monsters as minions of a sort," the old lady replied, @Barandofl "We can't be completely sure. I was just in there when the attack began and ran as soon as it started, but I know there was someone casting a sort of spell. The temple began to break apart, and I think I heard the chatter of a few goblins. But other than that, I fled before I could figure out everything that was happening." Elirus took deep breaths in between his sentences, stuttering out his words slowly.
Eska chewed over this for a moment. "What kind of things are you talking about? Goblins, kobolds, oozes? I'm interested to hear about the research you've done - I'm an artificer, by the way, and I specialize in alchemy, but the creatures of the multiverse have always interested me as well."
"That's cool~" Naz grinned, looking at the genasi in slight wonder. "I'm a monk, so we didn't get to see much of the outside world..."
@enderpearl @Jupjami "Goblins and kobolds in particular, yes!" The old lady's eyes seemed to brighten again as she began conversation with the genasi. "I've only focused on creatures from the material plane - but I am planning to tackle the rest of the multiverse, too."
"Okay, so there are goblins, some form of spell casters, and possibly other unknown threats. Your chances of finding much help are low, and without a proper reward, you're even less likely. Most capable adventurers nowadays are either merchants, mercenaries, or cutthroats; and they don't usually do charity work. How much do you two have on you? You're gonna need a fair price if you want a full party capable enough to pull of this rescue mission." Eleran stated, looking at the two half elves.
"Interesting." The elven mage spoke. "If we take out whoever is commanding them, they should be easier targets. However, finding their commander would be hard, as we don't even know how they're being controlled. Say, have you found any hints?"
@Barandofl "Elirus holds a single bag of holding. It is of not much use to myself nor he, as we do not travel often. Whatever items you find on the magic user can also be taken as you wish." Xylia responded. @Fchicken77 "The only leads is that they usually seem to approach from the west, and that no trace of magical forces could be found on any ones we managed to defeat." the knight replied.
Eleran's eyes opened wide at the sound of the half elf's offer. A bag of holding was no laughing matter. "Okay, wow... now that's a tempting offer. For a reward like that, I would gladly offer my assistance. But I don't think the three of us alone will be enough for this, you two should definitely ask around for more help."
@Barandofl "We will be," Xylia nodded. "Thank you so much for your help." With that, the two - now that Elirus had seemed to calm down some more - stood up from their table, splitting up to mingle along the others in the tavern.
Farrah thought for a bit. "Given the size of the army, I doubt I could do it on my own. Forming a party, even if only temporary, would be the best option here. However, I do not recognise anyone in this area. If you were to recruit a few more members, I would be able to help." Said the elf.
