    Boo! Blue screens. Freezes. File system corruptions. Even plain ol' exceptions. It ain't ever pleasant when all things technological come to a jarring hault. So why not share some of your unexpected software crashing stories here?

    I seem to be experiencing a spat of them lately.

    First, tumblr decides to freeze up my new phone, necessitating a restart;

    And then my laptop ultimately gives up on me. Poor thing;

    I ran into a corruption issue with my PSP a long time ago and I lost a lot of save files because I had to delete them because of corruption to prevent it from spreading.

    My old laptop also kept running into blue screen of death for a period but that somehow fixed itself because is not doing it anymore when I use it granted I rarely use it not but still, odd.

    My actual laptop crashed when I had downloaded Sonic.exe when I had just finished it the first time (Yes, the 666 version o_o). I felt very sad and scared when it happened because 1. it crashed my computer and it almost made me loose all of my files. and 2. it was very spooky for the way it happened... :S

    Once I had an external hard drive crash on me. I could access the top directory, but couldn't a single folder or read/write a single file. I was doing research for days on how to fix it (including literally freezing it in the freezer), but nothing worked. Everything on it was permanently gone. Until... I cracked open the case, hooked it up directly to a SATA connection, and did some kind of bios utility to repair corrupted sectors.

    Here's the thing though: this was with the help of my brother, and when we started recovering, the screen rapidly displayed the name and directory of every single file on that hard drive, occasionally pausing when it reached a corrupted bit. Can you honestly tell me that there isn't a single file on your computer whose title looks a little awkward? I was hoping none of those would be the unlucky ones to be shown when the list stopped for a few minutes... aaaaand... yeah, a folder with an awkward name (and every file within it) stopped up on screen. The thing is, the name was worse than the contents, but it wasn't worth defending myself and digging a deeper hole.

    What was that awkward thing? Here's a hint: it's a one-season comedy anime in which two angels hunt ghosts. Yeah, the name is pretty bad, it's hard to explain that away.

    Both the laptops and desktops had this new anti-virus program installed, since, upon some advice, decided not to use Norton again. It was a big mistake since it slowed down the computer, later we installed Norton again and the 2
    anti-virus programs had a full scale battle against each other and ultimately both of computers crashed as a result of it. Both had to be fixed up and the bill was quite hefty.

    Yeah, that's right... antivirus. I had an experience like that too at a time. I had installed AVG on my tablet, but I downloaded Avast too because that was the app of the day at some point. AVG immediately gave me a warning: "This is malware!" That was so weird... I mean, has capitalism even rooted inside the antivirus market that they try to keep their customers with them that badly? I don't see why they wouldn't cooperate.

    I've had "The save data has been deleted due to a corruption to the file" plenty of times, both with roms on my phone and games on my 3DS. I still don't know how, since I take pretty good care of all my games. I guess it will remain a mystery. It's really frustrating though, losing all of you progress if you had invented over fifty hours into a game...
