@Captain Comet The Church bells gong as Okla opens his front door he dashes for the kitchen to grab a box opener. He couldn't find one so he uses his Scimitar to strike the box open . He pours out the softening items and pops some bubble wrap. He takes out the package, a wooden box held by a golden latch. He flicks the latch open and opens the box. He finds a simple dog tag made of clouded glass. He puts it on his neck and checks the box to see if there was anything else in it. A simple note was written "Greetings, you've been selected to be apart of the Grim Reaper training classes. We will start your classes on the next morning of which the names are listed. In these training classes it's very difficult . As it's to show how it being a Grim Reaper will be like on the fields so you must be weary of your surroundings . Minerva placed the box down on the coffee table in her living room. She ran to her desk in her room, grabbed a pair of scissors, then quickly ran back to the box, too excited to care about basic safety rules one learns in kindergarten. She tore it open so fast that if there was anyone next to her, she would have absolutely whacked and possibly cut them. She opened the box, only to find a pile of packing peanuts. Throwing the packing peanuts out, she pulled out yet another thing in between her and the item; several layers of bubble wrap. She impatiently unwound all of it, then through all the unnecessary stuff off the table, placing the wooden box in their place. She admired it for a few seconds. It was just a simple wooden box, nothing special. No special carvings or designs on it. The golden latch was a bit ornate, but not anything that would draw attention. Still, the box seemed vastly more significant than that to her. Almost like it was giving off some sort of aura that said "I am important". She reached forward and lifted up the latch, then the top of the box. Inside was a simple dog tag made of clouded glass with a silver chain. The name "Minerva Winestead" was etched into it, with her birthday "May 24th" under it. She took it out and put it around her neck, relishing in her pride a bit as she watched it rest on her chest. She looked back in the box and picked up the note that was under it. "Greetings, you've been selected to be apart of the Grim Reaper training classes. We will meet in front of the head church when the bell strikes twelve times." She sat back and stared into space for a moment. Thinking about where she was now. She was still a bit confused about this whole "afterlife" thing. It seems just like life again, really. She didn't have to work, sure, but she always expected Heaven to be much more... quiet? She had always seen it portrayed as a place of eternal peacefulness. A place that basically acted like a reward for suffering through life. Granted, she never paid any attention in church, so what would she know? According to her family, she was supposed to be a certain somewhere else. I guess Mr. God Man either made an exception for her or just made a bit of a whoopsie that he has yet to notice. Or her parents could just be wrong, except they would never believe that. Well not until they died themselves, that is.
As Okla looked the paper back and front he thought "Is this really all ? ? No way. There's bound to be more" He checked the packaging and saw nothing. He looks through old cardboard boxes laying about to see if he can find anything that can help him. After shuffling for a little bit he hears a loud gonging sound. He slowly counts. 11 . . . 12 ." He sighs and pushes the boxes to the corner . He stands and stretches before running out the door . "12 hit much faster than I expected. . ."
The sound of the loud bell shook Minerva out of her thoughts. "Ah crap, 12 already?" She quickly got up and ran to her room to get her gear. She then flew out the door -quite literally- and flew off toward the head church. It was bright and sunny out as it always was, and the clouds where fluffy and wispy. Minerva normally loved flying through the clouds and just making a lot of twists and turns. But she was in a hurry now, so that would have to wait. As she got to the head church, she wasn't paying attention to a gender and didn't fly white high enough to clear it. Her left pant leg got caught and she was yanked out of the air, tearing said pant leg and falling on her face on the other side. She quickly got up and and tried to act like that didn't just happen, despite the obvious tear on the left ankle of her pants.
Okla jumped down his stairs and expanded his wings and glided down. He jumped from wall to wall making quick movements. He stumbles on one of the buildings as it had a loose nail . He lands and quickly catches his breath. He looks up and sees a large church that had large wooden doors reinforced with steel barrings . With cold stone bricks keeping it upright . Okla hops down and glides to a stop rolling as he lands . He looks up and sees a large gathering of people, some with notebooks, some with coffees and some falling asleep. He readies his stance and twirls his scimitars around like they're toys.
Minerva watches as the slender boy lands several yards in front of her. She walks up to him as he twirls his scimitars. "Careful you don't cut anyone with those." she says playful. She summons her lance and begins and begins practicing with it a bit, far enough away that she won't accidentally bash the other boy with it.
Okla looks at the female who just came by him. "You think I don't have cont-" He was being cocky twirling his blades between his hands and dropped it. "I stand corrected . . . " He kicks up he blade and twirls it breaking the blades apart and sheathing them The bell gongs one last time before a tall figure in a worn down cloak appears from the churches gateway Okla leans over to the girl and whispers "Any clue who that guy is ?"
Minerva chuckled to herself as the boy began to brag and dropped his blade. Then, just as the bell finished ringing, the large doorway to the church opened, and a tall figured emerged. "Any clue who that guy is?" Minerva heard the boy whisper. "No idea." she replied. "But I'd assume we're the reason he's here."
The cloaked figures cloak arms slowly droop before a large clock on a golden chain falls and sways from side to side. The man looks up at the crowd as his voice echos out "Greetings students, I am Father Time. I control time on earth as my duty. If I fail, crops will cease to grow, life will break down at immense rates." The clock keeps an even ticking sound before he speaks out once more. "This school is not easy, and it's very short. So make sure you pay attention. This school does not care about your well being like a normal school. We need to get each and every single one of you on the field as fast as we can. You'll be directed into one of our many school buildings in moments times. Please look at your dog tag that you were given to find your class. " Okla looks at his dog tag and finds "U-9" scratched into the dog tag. It wasn't very noticeable. He clutches the tag before placing it over his neck. "You are dismissed, you have five minutes to find your classroom."
Minerva looked at her dog tag again. It still had the same information she saw before. She flipped it over and found it. Did she seriously not look at the other side earlier? It read U-9. She turned back to the boy beside her. "Do you have any idea where these classrooms are?"
Okla shrugged as he looked around. "If I had any guesses . . .They'd be those buildings." He points at a large sign that says training "Though that can be for people who are already trained." He darts his head around the area. He points "Well duh it's right behind him." Okla watches as Father time turns around and walks in the church. A large sign hung over the church saying "Scholars come inside and find your classes." He reaches down to his belt and takes out a single token. Flicks it up in the air and catches it. "Will it be Heads or Tails . . ?" Okla ponders as he hears the coin ding in his hand. Throwing his hand over to his other arm to flip the coin. He looks down and sees the token had vanished. He feels a tap on his shoulder " I recommend not to play with your tokens." He looks to his left and finds a person with small black wings, a tipped black fedora, black tuxedo, dress pants, a black bow-tie, short blond hair, cold blue eyes. "Eh . . Sorry!" Okla stammers out before the person grunts. "Uhm sorry for asking but which way to U-9 ?" The man sighs "Listen if your gonna ask questions at least give me your names." He shoved his hands in his pockets and stared down with a glare. "Uhm . . . I'm Okla. And this is . .. uhhhhhh. I'll let her introduce herself."
"I'm Minerva. But I go by Minnie." Minerva was caught off guard just as much as Okla by the sudden appearance of this man. "Where you standing behind us this whole time or did you just happen to show up now?" The man's blond hair contrasted his black wardrobe in such a way that it was both charming and unsettling.
(you seem sus. imma vote you off) "I just got here, i'm only a mentor in ways. I've kinda passed the class yesterday but I messed up on the test at the end so I gotta retake it. If you don't already know, the class takes the entire day . But this isn't an earth day this is a heaven day which is about a week." He tips his fedora a little down before pointing to a building with a dangling sign "qrstuv" "You'll go 5 halls down and than 9 inwards, that make sense?" He asked before hearing a loud gonging sound "We have 10 more minutes"
"Five down, nine in. Got it." Minerva said, nodding. She wasn't quite sure why a day in heaven would be any longer than a day on Earth, but she didn't make the rules so she decided not to question it. "Thanks for the info, see ya!" Minerva said as she started jogging down toward the building the man pointed out.
(Sorry been dealing with stuff . Hi i'm here) Okla looks down at his watch before taking a dash for his house. He dashes up the stairs and opens the front door. He continues to search through old boxes before taking out a weird looking mechanism. A long light bulb sat inside. He went to plug it in but all the plugs were a different shape than what he needed . "looks like i'll need a different way to power this . .. " He sighs before placing it on the edge of a bookshelf. Looking down at his watch he noticed he has 3 minutes to run to class. He dashes out the front door. As he jumped from wall to wall he made a sliding stop to slow his momentum down a bit before breaking out in full sprint. He opened the double doors of the building "qrstuv" Slowly counting to himself as he dashed down the hall before sliding, missing, running back into the fifth hall and dashing for the ninth room. He grabs the door frame and jumps into class as the bell dings.
Minerva, already in the classroom, looks at Okla as he sprints inside just in time. He looked slightly out of breath. "What took you so long?" she asked. "You and I came from the same place." She leaned against the wall and studied the other students. Two girls were talking in the far corner from her, a boy was sitting down spinning a dagger in his fingers. Another girl was sitting with her back perfectly up straight. Her eyes were closed and she seemed to be meditating. Minerva thought she was cute and took a mental note to talk to her later.
"I ran to my house really quick. I had to see something." He sighed before he hears the door creak open. He looks up and sees an old man with a ragged cloak wrapped around his shoulders "What's with all of these people in cloaks . . ?" He mutters under his breath . As he grabbed the back of his seat and pulled it out sitting. "Greetings students. I am Father Time." Father time had a long chain that traveled around his arm . Pulling at his hood down long gray hair falls down, a large bald spot on the top of his head. A big smile was on his face as he takes his sit.
