Edit: Whoops... the title is supposed to be Changing a Pokémon's Name... hah... stupid Enter Key... Have you ever just said a Pokémon name out loud and think... "That doesn't sound right..." If you could change a Pokémon's name, which one would you choose, what would you change it too, and why?
For me it's a toss up. When Volcarona first was released, I had thought that it said Volacrona and this would be my pick for changing. It's a minor change, but retains its namesake for the most part while sounding a bit cooler
Naming Pikachu "Pekachu" is one of the largest mistakes I've ever done without realizing. I need to change it.
For years I thought that Salamence was Salamance, and when I finally realized my mistake I was so used to calling it Salamance that Salamence just doesn't sound right. If given the opportunity I would change it what I thought it was.
Apparently Honehedge is spelled honedge? Seriously, I keep spelling it and pronouncing it as if it's a grass type.(It seems with honedge's sword I need to trim that hedge!!)
Are you telling me I've been reading its name wrong all my life? I just looked it up. I honestly thought its name was Salamance, too. Oh jeez. I feel as if my whole life has been a lie...
Decidueye's name is kind of one big jumble to me. I don't exactly know what I would change it to if I had the option, but its pre-reveal "Robinroot" nickname did kind of click with me.
I would change braviary to murica! in all seriousness, I would change vivilon to vivilion, because that's what I called it for the longest time.
I would change Beautifly to Beautiefly. I used to always say "Beauti" as "beauty." It makes so much more sense to me than cutting off such a potentially beautiful syllable with an ugly "ih" sound.
Chinchou always seemed so random to me, as if they didn't want to stray from its Japanese name. Lanturn makes sense based on it's design. I feel like Flobulb or something with "bulb" (like a light bulb) fits chinchou so much better.
I thought Vespiquen was Vespiqueen for years, and I've gotten used to calling it Vespiqueen. I'd change it because it sounds cooler, plus it straight up has the word queen in it and Vespiquen is supposed to be the queen bee Pokémon.
Mareanie is the one I would change. I kept calling it (and spelling it) Marinie, like ma-rine-ee. Marinie also looks a bit like 'mermaid' to me as well, so there's that too. #MissingNo
In first grade, I seriously thought Raichu was pronounced Ray-chu... and somehow that made sense to me because I thought ray sounded like a ray of lightning (don't think that's a thing, but okay, first grade me!) and Raichu is an electric type. I wouldn't change the spelling though!
I would change the name of my Psyduck from 'Gift' to 'Banana'. I think 'Banana' is a good name for a yellow psyduck. Also, I think it sounds cute!
