Hello! To those of you who want to help, I've run into a bit of writer's block in terms of naming characters in my stories (on FanFiction). I can't post chapters until I've thought of names for the characters I describe in the thread. Please be aware that most (if not all) characters will be based on an existing video game character or characters. Any help would be appreciated!
The first set of characters are from my current story, Requesting Trouble. I need help naming: - A Tyrouge that 'leads' a band of about three other Pokémon. - An Aipom that seems to be well versed in pick-pocketing. And - A Slowbro that is completely lazy, but is also a 'competent' medic. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!
I've thought up some names you could use: Tyrogue - Lex (means 'defending men'. Can be short for Alexander, Alexis, Alexandros, etc) Aipom - Phineas [m] (possibly means 'serpent's mouth. I was thinking a pickpocket may be associated with sly reptiles, which brings us to: ) Tanith [f] (means 'serpent lady' goddess of love, fertility, the moon and stars), Lucky [f&m] (means... lucky. Which is what a pickpocket would want to be) Slowbro - Hui [m&f] (means 'wise') The website Behind the Name is pretty useful for this kind of thing!
Hmm. When naming them, I'd consider how much of a role they play (are they minor characters or major characters?), where they're from (it's kind of silly to give a Welsh name to a Japanese person, for a very obvious example), and how it rolls off the tongue. Presumably, these Pokémon live in the wild and don't have much human interaction, so I'd expect they're more likely to choose either A) a name which is derived from a local object, person, or valued concept and/or B ) was simple/made sense to the parent at time of birth. Good luck with your story!
