    For those still under their parents roof, what kind of chores agree you told to do? Do you get paid to do them? Do you enjoy your chores? What tasks would you rather do? What age did you start doing chores?

    Mostly I just have to take care of my younger brother, at least that's the most important. I also help cook(which I enjoy), and take out trash and help clean the house(which I don't)

    It's not that bad. I get a meager allowance, which is kind of 'payment' for taking care of my brother and helping out. I've been doing little tasks around the house for as long as I can remember

    Welp, I don't have an allowance, so... >__>

    I obv have to do chores (i.e. put away dishes, take out trash), etc. But what I REALLY hate is someone leaving me a list of chores to do and I see it the minute I get back home. Yardwork also really irritates me because I have allergies trigger (and then my parents complain about me sneezing/coughing).

    And honestly I really can't do babysitting... I get irritated too easily by kids (when my baby cousins are over I'm usually hiding in my room lol).

    Allowance? One summer I had a 75 cents per week allowance. No, I'm not so old I come from a time when 75 cents was actually something, my parents just legit thought that 3 dollars a month or 12 dollars over the course of the entire season was really invest-able and could be saved up and used as motivation.

    My entire life before and after that one summer has been allowance-less, and that's all right. I'd feel bad if not contributing to the flow of a household. Besides, I don't know how to cook and that's how I say thank you for food. You make the dishes dirty, I make them clean, circle of life.

    I get paid nothing since I'm told that getting food everyday is more than enough and even if I do ask, I'm told that 5 cents is enough, which is pretty much worthless. So I don't bother with it. Most of the time these days my chores consist of washing the dishes and occasionally mopping the house. Sometimes I'm asked to remove the weeds from the garden, but usually garden work is a no-go since I'm terrified of insects :sweat:

    Coming from a lower middle class household, we usually get taught to appreciate the small things. I do appreciate just having a roof over my head very much.

    I do chores just because hey I like to help out. Mow the yard, rake leaves, paint, fix things should they be broken, dishes, laundry, cook, etc. I also help out my mom since I work now and give her whatever money she needs to pay bills and what not. It is ridiculous to me that some kids living take what they have for granted and actually EXPECT an allowance from their parents for doing chores they should already be doing in the first place. Spoiled I swear man lol

    I think my sister and I are quite pampered compared to others from what I hear. The only things we have to do at home are serving and cleaning up the table, operating the dishwasher and make sure none of our stuff is lying around in inconvenient places. It'd be cool if I learned how to cook so I can take care of myself a bit more though ;;

    I like to help around the house, doing chores and stuff. Considering what my parents have to put up with I can't not do chores! Our house is pretty low maintenance though, so we don't need to tidy it up as much as some others may need to (which is a definite help).

    I used to get paid for the chores from what I remember. I now get paid for other reasons (I'd love if it was through a job I earned myself but it's taking me ages to work up that courage after the mental abuse from high school.). Considering my household earns a decent amount of money, I'm not legible to apply to the government for funding that way (if we earned a little less I could). I'm thankful that my parents are loving in that they'll fund me till I get a job.

    And trust me, one day I'll do my best to give back to them what they've given me, a good life.

    But uh, back to chores. Usually my work varies but the most common culprits are dish washing, hoovering, tidying up, cleaning the yard and taking the dogs for their daily walk (boy am I glad for having a brother to help make it all easier!). Occasionally we have a sort of "big clean" where we'll do things like cutting the ivy down in the back garden and mowing the lawn (I rarely do this part due to allergies but hey. It ain't all bad)

    I agree with my parents in that I shouldn't be paid for doing chores around the house because they already pay for so many other things for me, it's the least I can do for all of the money they have spent and will spend on me. As for the chores I do, I do my bedroom, and I sweep the kitchen and package the leftover food after dinner. Also, I occasionally have to clean out my cat's litter box, which smells bad. Not too bad, especially considering how much parents do in return. I used to have more chores, but that might just be because I have a job now.

    I don't really have a set list of chores, I just do what they want at the time and I do get allowance for it, so that's good.
