I know, at the time of writing this, it's only the 3rd of November, but I've been seeing Christmas stuff in shops since September. By their standards, this thread is late! But on the subject: with Halloween over, have you started thinking about Christmas yet? Bought any gifts, got any hopes for yourself? How do you feel about Christmas being advertised earlier and earlier with each passing year?
I've already bought my family Christmas pressies because last year I ordered in November and they all arrived in january?? So I ordered them in september this year and they're all wrapped and hidden away. I'm making my friends Christmas presents this year but I'll start later this month. That said, I am one of those people who dislike seeing Christmas stuff way too early. The Christmas adverts have started on tv and radio and I'm just hhhhhh. I cant.
Not thinking about it yet, probably will start beginning late November once Thanksgiving ends haha. A little too early for me. Have more to think about this time around with presents and all though, so it'll definitely be a more stressful Christmas than before......gahhh maybe I should start thinking now. :droplet:
For the past 3 years, I've never really though about Christmas. When it comes to receiving a gift, I personally don't have anything that I want, so it gets very bothersome when people keep asking me about things that I might want. But when it comes to giving, I would certainly try to get a good gift, but when you never really receive any money, it gets difficult to get them a good gift with no means of actually getting said gift.
As a walmart worker, I hate it! Not only am I about to have christmas shoved down my throat in massive amounts for a total of 3 months, but now I have to hear the customers complain about it too and there is nothing I can do even though I agree with them. And with black friday coming up that means that I'll have to work on thanksgiving instead of spending it at home with my family. As for gifts, I haven't bought any yet but, I am on the lookout for good gifts and ideas because I am on a strict budget this year.
Haven't bought anything yet, I'll probably go shopping last minute lol. I'm not a big fan of splurging on Christmas gifts, especially if the gift isn't really needed. I think small (read: cheap) gifts are a nice way of showing you care without spending a fortune. I really don't like how Christmas has become so commercialized though, everyone's just out to get your money sooner and sooner.
My family doesn't really start thinking about Christmas until after Halloween is over. So early November is free game when it comes to Christmas things. Especially Christmas music. I'm part of two different community choirs, and we've already been rehearsing for a month for both of them. So when you're in the performing business (or hobby), Christmas most certainly starts earlier, and I really love it. I could do without all of the commercialism though.
No. Halloween isn't over. It'll never be over. I'm not really big on Christmas. I just wanna build some snow sculptures and drink hot chocolate.
Don’t hate me for saying this but I hate how the day after Halloween, it’s automatically Christmas. It’s not. There’s still Thanksgiving. I hate the amount of Christmas advertisements and decorations and stuff I see everywhere. I understand it’s a marketing tactic but come on, it’s the first week of November!
I think I'm numb to christmas stuff being brought out early. Or maybe even enjoy it, as I did find myself fussing over the fake trees at walmart a few weeks ago and wished I had the space to keep one. I really did like some of those trees. As for presents, at least for others, my modus operandi is to wait until the week before or so and then just buy everyone gift cards of some sort. Seems to always work.
"On October 30th the midnight bell will toll... then BAM Christmas carols everywhere!" In all honestly, I can't think of Christmas straight away. I have birthdays prior that take priority, as well as graduation.
In my book, Christmas season starts on December 1st. This is partially because my father is an adamant "no Christmas music until after Thanksgiving!" person, but also just because I feel like it loses some of its novelty if it's anticipated for too long. A month is a decent amount of time, I think. The only exception to this rule is when my schools do book fairs and I buy a present for my brother there; that's usually during November. I've never been exposed to many things that do ads; we listen to ad-free radio and I don't have Netflix. But Kohl's ads on Spotify are already getting into the Christmas spirit, which I think is ridiculous. They were playing on November first. That's crossing a line, in my humble opinion. But if you're into that, good for you! More time to celebrate.
I went to Michael’s (a craft store) today and the amount of Christmas decorations there was crazy, as soon as I walked in there were so many decorations and I’m just getting angry because i t s n o t c h r i s t m a s y e t
yknow i always say "its too early" but weve been getting snow here already so im one of those people whos waiting unfortunately lmao. if it feels like christmas outside i want it to be christmas!! my town has a big winter/christmas event in mid november so thats when it starts for me. its this saturday so catch my icon in a santa hat soon haha
What do you mean "Christmas is coming?" It's been Christmas since June at Hobby Lobby! i hate lobby lobby btw Anyway. It's not Christmas yet, I only start getting into things after Thanksgiving. How they start rolling out the ads right after Halloween is so annoying! I swear on the 2nd, they started running that Hershey's Christmas commercial that's been around since the Roman Empire or something. Literally two days after Halloween. And stores stocking candy canes next to their leftover Halloween candy is ridiculous. Jumping the gun a little early there? (side note: regarding stores stocking for Christmas too early, I will have to exempt Käthe Wohlfahrt's, which I visited in Germany this summer because that store is stuck in Christmas limbo. even in july it's a really pretty shop hhhhhhh)
Maybe I’m getting my hopes up but... I’ll be completely moved to Las Vegas by the time Christmas rolls around. My brother is leaving school in Kansas for the break to go spend it with my parents and I’m hoping I can squeeze maybe a week of my earned vacation to go out as week. That all hinges on if it gets approved and I can get on a flight. This is the busiest time for flying though. May have to end up buying my ticket Already made my wish list on Amazon, so the family can see what we all want
