Civilization Series Discussion

I got Civ V in the Sid Meier's Humble Bundle and It's about the only one I've played aside from a little bit of Civ IV.
I tend to go for either the Culture victory or the Diplomatic victory. Otherwise, I'll go as a random civilisation and go for the victory/victories best suited for that particular civ.
I usually play as France.

 

My roommate plays Civ V occasionally and once I tried to borrow his copy of it so I could play it on my computer, but it failed due to those packaging code failsafes they make. From what I've seen him play it's a really cool game though.

 

Civilization is one of my favorite series, I have both 4 and 5. On civ 5 I usually play as Japan. Every time I play Civ I go for military domination victory as the other leaders end up betraying me later on lol.

 

I've only ever played 5 and BE (which is pretty much still 5). I have a hard time managing a military in either of these games, so I've never managed a militaristic victory.

My usual victory type is Cultural, and I play as the Moroccans (who are pretty darn cool even outside of the game). My goal is to be as friendly as possible with everyone, make money off their trade, and use that boosted income to buy even more friendship, so nobody dares attack me and risk losing the stuff I'm giving them. Like an incredibly shallow high school rich kid who buys friendship to avoid being beaten to a pulp in the hallways because he's so weak.

Actually... that pretty much does summarize my playstyle. Weak and rich nerd who buys people's friendship to avoid getting beaten up.

 

I have civ 5 and all its expansions as well as beyond earth but i had to uninstall to make room for other games sadly.

my play style would normally revolve around developing a few big cites with a lot of population mainly going for a tradition build, but on other occasions i just mix and match different play styles.

one time i was playing as Babylon and i had the best science but a small empire, so at this point on my continent it was basically me and Greece so when china told me i was going to be attacked by Greece i attacked first and got overwhelmed. luckily Nukes, and i conquered a now radioactive wasteland and soon won a score victory due to running out of time on the space ship.

 

Has anyone else tried going for one victory and somehow ended up getting another?

I swear, in my last game with Greece I was going for a cultural victory (4 out of the 5 policies) and somehow I won a domination victory even though I have no idea how.

 

I have yet to get a space victory as i always get time victory when i am close or cultural victory.
