First time doing any kind of challenge or modified gameplay run through. I chose FireRed because it's like experiencing the classic original but easier to use/see. Also has a wider variety of possible Pokémon in it. I start out with three random starters to choose from, one of which is Cyndaquil. As much as this doesn't impress me for a supposedly "random" generation, I pick it since it's a lot better than Horsea or Ghastly. The rival then picks the Horsea, which makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why he then battles me with a Poochyena. I win the battle and head up to the grass patch. First ever wild encounter is a Nidoqueen and it's Poison Point ability means that although I win the battle by a tiny margin, I have to head straight back to the house for a heal. Unfortunately, I am only a few squares in front of the mum when the poison causes Cyndaquil to faint and I lose money and white out in front of my own mother in my own house, which is silly. I then continue training by doing one battle with nidoqueen and returning for a heal and repeating, eventually getting further up the route and noticing a cool pattern of Ekans and then Seviper encounter. Still no balls so no fun capturing anything and probably now not enough funds to buy many balls either, which rather does take out a lot of the fun. Will update with whatever team I assemble for the first Gym Badge.
Ooooo you're doing pretty well CK (other than losing money and not being able to get Pokeballs). But I can't wait to see more!
