So I read the rule about toxic behaviour but I was wondering if you guys could be more detailed.
Specifically, what is it that constitutes "toxic"? Would you be willing to message me first if I am behaving in such a way so I can correct my behaviour?

    Hi Ares, thanks for posting!

To clarify, toxic behavior constitutes negativity towards the site and its members. Now, I want to point out that no one will get in trouble if they disagree with something our someone, that is perfectly fine. It becomes toxic though when behavior reaches the point where it becomes harassment online and user(s) feel uncomfortable logging in and using our site. Again, everyone is perfectly fine to have their own opinions on stuff but if the behavior becomes toxic, then we'll take action.

You're probably wondering, "that still doesn't explicitly define toxic behavior" and you're right. Toxic is an adjective and there's not explicit way to define it which is why we ask users to be mature and use good judgement. The staff team also does their best to exercise good judgement when dealing with this stuff and in 99% of the cases, we'll privately speak to a user to clarify stuff rather than warn/kick/ban. To reiterate, we almost never take severe action as our first step.

Hope this answers your question and helps clear up stuff. We also plan to add a new guide on how the staff team works so that this whole process becomes a lot clearer.

Can you be more specific? This seems a bit vague but basically I'm worried that, as a more no nonsense serious person, people may take my attitude the wrong way since I notice a lot of people here like to joke a lot ^^

You don't have to worry! Like Vigilance said, if we felt any users were demonstrating toxic behaviour, we would notify them first and try to sort out the problem before taking any action.

Toxic behaviour can include the following:
    • Insulting fellow users, to their face or behind their back.
    • Consistently getting into arguments with other users.
    • Spreading negative thoughts and comments about Lake Valor, its users or in our threads/discord frequently (it's ok to vent and rant, but don't overdo it basically).
    • Negative bias against certain users and staff
It is not solely limited to this, but these are a few things that make up toxic behaviour. Like we've said, if we feel someone is being toxic we will always aim to let them know and try to work to a solution if possible.

Oh ok thanks for clarifying, I wouldn't do any of that anyway but I just wanted to make sure!
